Runeforging is a profession-like ability for Death Knights. While it is used like other professions, you don't need to train it; you get new recipies like every few levels as class abilities. There are no skillpoints to train. A Death Knight can only change the runeforged enchant on his weapon at a Rune Forge (obviously). At the moment, you can find Rune Forges at least in Acherus and Shadow Vault in Icecrown.

A runeforged weapon cannot have an enchant other than the temporary enchants, such as sharpening stones. Luckily for Death Knights, the runeforging recipies scale with level and gear. Here's a list of the runeforging recipies and the level a Death Knight receives them.

55 - Rune of Cinderglacier
55 - Rune of Razorice
57 - Rune of Spellbreaking (Only for 1h weapons)
57 - Rune of Spellshattering (Only for 2h weapons)
60 - Rune of Lichbane
63 - Rune of Swordbreaking (Only for 1h weapons)

Loads better, with more of a value given to Unholy for use on a buffed Deathcoil or Scourgestrike, or Frost for the obvious choices it brings, for Blood the value of this enchant isn't as high as it is for the other specs, but you still get forced crit deathcoils, and Cinderglacier doesn't have a lowered proc rate for after 70.

I don't agree with you at all.

Think about it-- Cinderglacier gives you a 20% bonus to a handful of spells for only two charges.

Fallen Crusader, on top of its healing, gives you a whopping 30% increase to strength. This means more damage to ALL of your spells (Every DK spell is based on AP.), diseases, abilities, etc, rather than a flat 20% increase to two spells. Did I mention Fallen Crusader has a high proc rate?

Does this stack? Like if you're dual wielding weapons with it on both? (like Mongoose does) Or is it like Executioner which just reapplies itself

This is very useful for Frost, and less useful for Blood/Unholy.

The simple reason is that Frost will *always* use this to good effect with any of their spells, while Blood/Unholy will "waste" a charge on IT many times because IT was next in the rotation and/or DC wasn't available.

This test isn't valid, because IIRC the proc chance of the offhand is halved.

Damage of offhands are halved, but if they allows proc rates to remain the same then they would greatly surpass 2hers in DPS because you would essentially be able to have a 2h weapon with two enchants. To combat this, they reduced proc rates for offhands as well. That way, you can't put something like crusader or mongoose on an offhand to get double the PPM of a 2h weapon.

If you really want to test it, use a 2her and test this rune for 1,000 swings. Then, using the same weapon, use the other rune for 1,000 swings. Record procs with a damage meter or some such, so that you can measure the proc rate accurately. Eyeballing it could work, but you may miss one or two that way.

For blood spec, I'd probably dual wield and put Frost or Shadow oil on both weapons. Even if you don't have a frost attack in your normal rotation, the oil procs will get the cinderglacier boost.

I like Cinderglacier better than Razorice when tanking (frost spec). I'm not sure how they compare in straight up dps, but Cinderglacier allows me to time my Howling Blasts to increase AoE threat while Razorice just provides a constant threat increase against a single target.

The buff this rune applies is spell ID 53386, for those who want to plug it into mods (i.e. Parrot, MSBT, etc)

Try this out

Step 1. You spec shadowfrost
Step 2. You'll need to dualwield
Step 3. You enchant ure OH with Razorice and ure MH with Rune of the Cinderglacier
Step 4. You go into a BG, see if you can get 5 stacks from Razorice, then when you got "Killing Machine" ready, then you pop it and use death chill right after. Its an enormous burst and its rlly fun! :D

If ure bored, try it out, you don't need to spec differently than when using a 2H, since the burst you're going to make is magic DMG.

While possibly not ideal for competitive PvP, rocking out Fallen Crusader and Cinderglacier in BGs is most certainly amusing.

Few things in my own WoW adventures have made me laugh like camping the tunnel in WSG, cracking off a Hungering Cold, and then lighting up 3-5 people with several thousand damage through a Deathchill'd Howling Blast.

This doesn't serve much actual purpose, but it makes the WSG daily BG quest far more enjoyable.

I decided to try this rune while tanking heroics (Just because I've got defense rating pouring out my ears right now), and it seems to barely proc at all while DW tanking. Fallen Crusader on the other hand, seems to proc every single trash pull, sometimes it procs repeatedly during a single pull. 1.5 ppm seems accurate (at least in an anecdotal way), but it's not very exciting.

Is this by far superior than using Crusader + Heirloom wepon till level 60? for an unholy DK and/or PvP perspective.

There is an amazing trick to using these weapons, The 20% more damage on your frost and shadow works on icy touch and scourge strike, as well as the dots they get applied, you can roll the damage increase cause its a % and keep the 20% more damage on your dots while switching to your better weapon with razorice or fallen crusdaer on it.

Basically you can roll your dots with this enchant and not have to use it permantently.
