Useful things to note when doing this:

While carrying the Element 115 you can mount up without dropping it, but you won't run any faster than normal running speed, so don't bother. You can however swim or water-walk across the water instead of running around the piers.
When you're riding the torpedo, use the keys to turn and not the mouse. If you use your mouse, the camera will turn faster than the rocket and disorient you. The keys will turn at the same speed as the rocket and keep your camera forward all the time.
The boat you have to destroy is the wooden Horde boat up by the lumber mill, NOT the central metallic one with the captain. Don't waste your time aiming for the one in the middle, your target is northwest of this.
Avoid all the ice while on the torpedo, if you hit any of the ice floating on the water, or an iceberg, the torpedo will explode and you'll have to go back and get the element all over again.

Steer by just holding down right click and directing - it doesn't turn very fast so you gotta get used to it and prolly won't get it on your first try.

I did this just now by making a right at the beginning - don't try to make a sharp right to go to the right of the giant iceberg, go to the left of that, and just keep steering towards the right you'll make like 270 degrees of a circle, at the very end you'll have to steer a little left to actually hit the boat - the big boat when you look at your map (west one) which is the horde's.

You'll nail it from the back. Good luck!

Bloody awful quest, I wouldn't bother unless you're desperate for the PvP dailies achievement, and that's doing it on a server with basically no opposite faction, add in the possibility of being ganked on a more balanced server and I can see this soon becoming the most hated quest ever.

I took almost an hour of attempts before I found the right path through the ice, each failure rewarding you with a looooong swim back to get more "rocket fuel" and the prospect of retrieving more element 115 and crawling back to the rocket dock.

Never ever bothering with this one again now I have the achievement. Seems the venture coin reward are only of interest to shamen anyway, since they seem to be exclusively for purchasing totems -_-

The rockets are located behind the lighthouse, I looted the fuel three times before finding them, but after that it all went smooth. Once you exit the boat just jump in the water and swim across.

If you spent an hour getting it right..something is wrong. You should have known after the first attempt that making the first right turn too quickly would fail. The only other thing u would have tried was to make the next turn. And after making that turn..everything becomes obvious. It's a simple case of "this door is locked. maybe I'll try opening the door right next to it instead of twisting the doorknob 50 times"

OK - So I got the rocket fuel - hopped on the rocket and crashed into an iceberg. Repeat about 4x. Then, on the 5th time, I get my rocket fuel and horde has taken control of the base. Can't do the quest because there are no alli to be found who can retake the base.

This was very frustrating. Maybe there should be a prequest to learn how to steer the stupid rocket without crashing and having to repeat the entire process over and over again with no guarantee that you'll even be able get to the rocket if the horde takes over. :(

This quest was bugged for me. When my rocket got to the boat it went under it and glitched around for a second or two and threw me up in the air as the boat was exploding as it is supposed to, but I didnt get any cred for it though.

The easiest way around in my opinion is to steer the rocket in a large U-turn against the large ice bergs out in the deep water. This is to the right side when you enter the torpedo (West side/Horde side). Coming in towards the bay near the large ice bergs, the path is pretty curvy, like a very weak S-bend.

Just get far out there before you go in!

I recommend that the area is scouted manually first, before you go get the fuel. You definately have to plan a large circular U-motion around until you get to the S-bend path along the edge, and you will get a good picture if you see it without being stressed by the rocket that never stops.

The boat you have to take out is the small boat with a crane on it, NOT the large one you see on the map. If you go for the large one, the rocket will submerge and explode. I think this is something that should've been clearer in the quest text.

While the quest does mention the rockets are 'at the end of the dock', the dock mentioned here is not so clear. I had first wondered around the entire ship yard trying to find the rockets when they are actually behind the quest giver, at the end of a small pier (refer screenshot, hopefully) ...

Steer with the keys, avoid the ice. Just look at how fast it can turn and you should be able to get to the ship in 1-2 tries.

As for the ship itself.

YOU NEED TO HIT THE BACK OF IT!
The back end is the one with the rudder, pointing in the direction of where the torpedoes spawn. If you don't know what a rudder is on a ship, Google search it. Hitting the front or the middle won't work. You need to hit the back (doesn't need to be straight on back, you can hit the rudder's side.)

A million times easier using keyboard to steer, vs. the mouse. In my opinion the mouse steering is bugged.

Also, let yourself go forwards 2-3 seconds before beginning to turn towards the right.

Fair warning - not sure if this was a bug or not - but if you accidentally hit an iceberg and can't make it back to the docks (I'm assuming) before the fatigue runs out...

You die. And apparently the closest graveyard is in Dragonblight? Skip this quest if you can.

Quest is horribly bugged. I've hit the X 6 times now. 3 of those times instead of detonating before the ship as per the video I just end up sailing right under the boat. 3 other times I detonate at random points and get launched properly back and into the air, get all the buffs from the quest, have the boat go up in flames but failed to get credit.

It's not worth it.

i did this quest once, hit the boat the first time, but didnt give me credit.

Went again hit a block of ice.

Third time i did the thing where the guy mention to point ur camera down, it worked, but when i went to turn it in, i didnt get credit in the achievement :(

So not entirely obvious when i read through the quest, and the comments here... but I am a bit overtired lawl...

The 'rocket fuel' is the Elerium 115 that you pick up in the captains room in the middle ship. Same as the other quest.

For DKs

I had a lot of trouble with the ship explosion not registering for the quest, tried it about 6 times before I thought about turning off Path of Frost. Worked first time after that.

Hit the rudder and it worked like a charm. The rudder is the back of the ship and looks like a cog with teeth up close. If you slam right into it you blow the whole ship up. Hitting any other part of the ship causes the rocket to go under the boat.

Aim for the rudder and its 100% success.

After about 20 attempts at this on my mage (which was after having it complete properly on the second attempt for my shaman,) none of the above mentioned techniques worked. What finally worked for me was removing the buff that counts down your time before the warhead explodes just as I reached the boat. Hit it right in the middle of the boat even, just clicked off the buff as I hit it and it completed. Nothing else (no hitting the rudder or the X's, or turning the camera any which way) made it work.

as for the quest bugging at the end and not getting credit ...

i tried the "point camera down" and "hit the rudder" suggestions, both don't work.

after 5 tries, i noticed there's an "X" close to the water line towards the back of the boat. hitting that got me credit, finally.

with the exception of hitting icebergs a few times i got this first try, this may be because they fixed it with 3.0.8 but i didn't target and specific place on the ship. hoping its that they fixed it and i didnt just have dumb luck

Hit ship but don't get credit

I have done this quest at least 2 dozen times. Sometimes I would find that I had to blow up the ship 3 or 4 times to get credit. I tried different angles on the ship and today I finally figured out what was causing this. If you adjust your camera angle high you will note that your rocket rides lower in the water. If you are too low in the water you will pass under the ship. While you will still receive the animation of the boat on fire, you will not receive credit for the quest.

Before you strike the boat make sure you adjust your camera angle and act like you want to fly that rocket up out of the water. This will ensure that you stop at the side of the boat and get credit for the quest.

After many attempts the only times it ever worked for me was when I aimed for the X on the left side of the ship. It triggered before I even touched the ship whereas going for the X near the rudder I'd be stuck halfway into the ship for 5-10 seconds and receive no credit. I even got stuck inside the ship and had to hearth out one time.

Impressive q....Although might take some fails till u get it done.
If u have played Jak 3 on PS2 u might know how to navigate this rocket ^^
Avoid ALL obstacles on your way,might be useful to start by going deep into the sea,so u give yourself the chance to get a straight line back to the ship. You can't steer so comfortably.
I suggest you follow the route as in screenshotted map,i found it very useful

I asked a GM how to fix this issue, and he said to delete my Cache file and try again. I did this, and it worked, so if you can't get this quest to give you credit no matter how hard you try, delete your Cache folder and start again.

Go to the boat at the cords 16,80 then you go inside the boat and get the fuel.
Go back to the lighthouse with the fuel, while u are running back with the fuel your movement speed cannot be increased.
Jump onto the red rocket behind the lighthouse.
Move the rocket you are riding to the right. (Horde Boat)

Do NOT look "down" look UP!

I found that when I was looking down, the nose pitched down, sliding under the ship. When I looked UP, the nose pitched up and hit the X perfect.

What a waste of time. IMO don't even bother with it. I read the suggestions on how to complete this successfully before doing it. I get the fuel and get on the rocket. I've missed the ice everytime but one. I line up the rocket and change the camera angle to look down over myself and yes, i've change the angle to look up too. I've hit the wooden "X" on the front side of the boat, I've hit the side, I've hit the front with nothing above me; I've done it all. After attempting it 8-10 times and hitting the boat everytime but once and still not completing successfully, I have chosen to move on. It's a waste of time unless you enjoy the aggrivation. This requires a "fix" IMO (and that's an opinion so if you don't agree then go do it and good luck to you).

Okay, after reading another post and trying again it worked. Here's what I did to make it complete. If you examine the target boat you'll notice it has an "X" made of two wooden planks at two points on the boat. One X is near the front and another at the water line on the back of the boat. Target the "X" at the back of the boat. Also, in preparation of the impact I did not angle the camera up or down but simply lowered it closer to water level and perhaps just a bit above. I've had this quest bug multiple times on me. After attempting the quest around 8 times in a row with no success, I tried the method of looking straight down before impact. That didn't work for me, so I tried impacting the bow, did that multiple times to no avail. Finally I decided to try something different and right as I hit the boat I hit the "exit vehicle" button. That finally gave me credit for the quest. I'm not sure whether it was just a lucky coincidence, or a valid work around for the bug. Hopefully one of the three of these work arounds will work for anyone else who encounters this bug.

The rockets are not appearing at the end of the dock. We control the lighthouse and with or without the Element 115 buff, not seeing any rockets. Filed a ticket.

While carrying Element 115 you don't go any faster no matter what you do. The Element 115 only lasts a short amount of time so you have to hurry on the rocket. The rocket is hard to control. The Horde lumberboat is to the right on the edge of the Venture co. place.

I haven't had too much trouble with this quest as far as the actual controls go, but its the goddamn BUGS that keep killing me. I only get one try because there's an issue with spawning rockets and sliding under the boat.

Blizz really needs to fix this.

General Note: Even after dumping my cache folder, I still, occasionally come to the end of the pier and find no rockets! I've gone and done Zorna and other quests and come back to find them still gone, so it's not a "respawn" issue. Blizz needs to get on the ball with this one. It is a fun quest, but still one of most "buggy" quests going.

As insane as it sounds, people have actually done just this in real life.

During World War II, the Japanese Navy developed a weapon called the "Kaiten" - a rocket-propelled, human-piloted explosive missile essentially homologous in functionality to the rocket in this quest.

When doing this quest today, the rockets are gone. My guess is that people already used them, so I'll have to wait for respawns, but it seems respawn timer is REALLY long

This quest is nothing but a headache. On top of all the troubles people are having, my torpedo just up and exploded for no reason. Not near a single obstacle, it just blew up. This quest seriously needs some bug fixing before it's worth trying.

Easy quest, did it the first time.

Opened up a minimap and used it to keep me oriented and on course. I scaled it (I use Cartographer3) to the point where I could see the icebergs on the map.

I hit the X at the stern - there is one at the bow as well. Worked like a champ.

You get the Elerium 115 from the middle boat, you will have to kill the Venture. Co workers before you can get it, then you kill the dude in the last room, then there's 2 Elerium 115, take one, then it will say " Looting Elerium 115 will bind to you",

Then you go to the torpedos. Get on one, use your arrow keys, you must dodge the chunks of ice, or your torpedo will explode, then you'll have to have to get the Elerium 115 again...so...yeah :P

I tried it and it exploded for no reason D: no iceburgs no nothing... damn..

So, after wasting 20 mins reading BS posts here I figured out how to do it.
Fella that gives you the quest spawns when that small island is capped ALL the way to the end.
When you pick it up, head to the boat right in front of him. There are 3 of em, you need the middle one. It filled out with "Venture Co" dudes. In a small room there are 2 red cans (that 115 crap). Pick up one. Go outside. Get on flying mount. Now fly back to the NPC who gave you the quest. If you face him, fly pass. You will see a dock there with 1 huge rocket and 4 small red ones. The red one is the one you need. Sit on it like any vehicle and head to the boat you need to destroy.
The boat which needs to be destroyed is North-West (if you look on the map). Unusual looking boat with horde flags and crates. You can see where it spawns with Blizz quest tracker thingy.

Alright so, the "rocket fuel" is Element 115 in the rear hold of the middle ship. It has Goblins and Dwarves on top of it.

Take that to the dock behind where you got the quest and jump into a rocket. Your objective is the horde ship w/ the crane on it (it's worth locating it BEFORE you get on the rocket).

The rocket doesn't maneuver very well and if you run it head on into any objects, like the little ice patches, it will blow up and you have to start over.

I got tired of trying, but I think you fly it out to sea, where you get fatigue, and then turn around and navigate it back to shore. Run it straight into the ship, you will automatically jump off and parachute down.

Rocket glitched out the first 2 tries and just dropped me off in the middle of water, no icebergs or obstacles anywhere near me. I remember doing this quest many times over the years so I know how its done. 3rd try and it worked, made it to the lumberboat and completed the quest.

If the rocket bugs out and drops you in the water randomly just keep trying and hopefully it'll work.
