It casts a debuff called "Soul Corruption" that does:
- 740 to 860 Shadow damage inflicted every 5 sec. (lasts 15sec, so 3 ticks)
- All stats reduced by 100.
This debuff is not dispellable.

Doable with 8-10 level 70s as long as you have your two tanks and a mage for sheeps.

Interestingly enough, he can apparently be pulled into Stormwind. He just rolled through there with a little help from the Horde. Needless to say, he laid waste to the Trade District.

Note that he only drops one of the fragment quest items per kill, so if your party/raid has multiple players attempting the quest, you will have to kill him multiple times.

Just did him with 6 people: Rogue, Ret Pally, Prot Warrior, Mage, Holy Priest and a Shadow Priest. Could have probably did him without the Shadow Priest but it would have taken quite a bit longer. Tanking him near the bottom of the ramp so our priest could LoS helped a lot. Increased DPS along with the MC buff made Mind Controls very dangerous so sheeping/CC'ing was crucial.

As of 3.0.3, he still only drops one quest item.
If he despawns, or if you need to kill him again for other people, just go up the ramp and out of the dragon area until you see a whisper from him in your chat log. Once you see that, he's respawned and can be killed again.

This mob does *not* spawn normally. He must be 'summoned' by an individual with the
The Nightmare's Corruption
quest in their book. Otherwise, he does not seem to be in the grove at all. Just have the person with the quest come into the grove, and he will recieve a whisper from the Corruptor.

Just soloed him as a lvl 80 prot pala in my tanking gear in just under 20 minutes, mostly 77-80 blues with a couple of Titansteel pieces, was able to block his melee (540+ def) and shadow resistance aura took care of 50% of soul corruption. (backed against the side of the ramp to avoid knockback)
Kept Judgement of light up permanently and alternated between Seals of Light and Wisdom depending on which bar got low (usually only the blue one unless I got distracted). Ended the fight with near full HP and full mana, no pot needed.
Remember he's lvl 83 in terms of hit/miss/resist/crit, and he has a lot of health even compared to Northrend elites, so he will eventualy wear you down if you don't have some sort of mitigation and/or healing available.

Soloed as lvl 80 feral druid. I had a couple blues iLvl 200, all other tems were epic (heroics/10 man).
Get a few potions (can use 1 per attempt), bandages, some food for buff.
Run in in tanking gear. Keep all buffs/debuffs up at all times. Be ready to use feral charge when he kicks you. Otherwise If you have a bad position you may land out of his reset range and he will evade.
Use Barskin/Survival Instincts/Frenzied Regen combo when you are down 8-9K (exact number depends on your hp pool). Should be back to full. Then potion and dps after. Frenzied regen w/e it's up. I finished with 3K hp in bear, but did a few mistakes so you should be fine if you stay focused the whole fight.
Took prob. 5-10 min (didn't bother to check).
It's possible to get a hot up or a couple bandage ticks if you are getting too low. Just choose position carefully and let him kick you w/o charge. A bit risky though, because reset range is pretty small.

If you're not a class or spec that can solo this boss and you can't find a full group, there's another way.
Find someone who can solo it (i used a deathknight) and make a party. Stand back and don't get into combat, while the other runs in and dps's the boss down to low hp. The boss only mindcontrols if there's more than one person fighting him so as long as you keep your distance and don't get in combat everything is fine. Just before the boss dies, run in and do some damage so you get credit and loot.

Soloed this as Protection in Naxx 10 man etc gear. ( edit: I play a Warrior )
Like the poster before me, I teamed up with a shaman who kept Healing stream totem up close to me all the time, but did not heal me nor attack the boss.
Do NOT fight him under a ledge as that will often make the boss evade and then reset, happened to me like 5 times before I changed tactic. instead I just fought him where he stands to begin with and as soon as I got knockback, I used charge to him again. Make sure your back is towards an open area.

Killed him tonite with a hunter. I am a tg warrior but have a really nice tanking set so i put on my full tanking gear with my 2handed mace and shield. One of the trinkets was the
https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=44597
. I am also an alchemist so I have lifeblood and an endless healing potion as well. Also have my Enraged Regeneration.
I would fight him as long as I could doing 200k-300k damage depending on luck or not. When I knew I couldnt hold out the hunter would run up and shoot him. As he did I would immediately shadowmeld run off and eat to full while the hunter popped deterrence and aspect of the monkey. Then I would wait for him to punt the hunter and immediately heroic throw. When I did this the hunter would shadowmeld and go eat while I picked the boss back up with renewed cooldowns.
We would rinse and repeat this for the whole fight around 20 minutes or so to kill him. He is a brutal mofo.

Soloed as retribution paladin. Took me 9 minutes, but only because I was PvP specced and he half-evaded to 50% of his health once -- would be much faster with PvE spec (and if found the "safe spot" faster so he wouldn't evade).
The key to this fight is to not let him knock back you far away and "half-evade". To do this you need to find a spot where his knock back doesn't throw you away. I found this spot at the moonwell where he spawns
between one of the "collumns" and a rock
-- just stand between them agaisnt your back as shown on the

Easily soloable as a Feral Tank in Heroics/Naxx10 gear. Use Barkskin and Lifebloom (if you're Herbalist) when available, around 35% use Survival Instincts + Frenzied Regeneration and a Runic Health Potion, if you have.
Around 38% Dodge and 38k HP, self-buffed.

Solo'd him this past weekend as Holy pally. At first I tried using the tree and well as stops to his knock back, but it was bugging him out and resetting his health. I got him down to 73K the first time and he reset to 443K, and then reset again to 675K. I then decided to just take the knock backs judge/holy shock while I was being knocked back. Once he ran towards me, I reversed my standing so he could knock me back to where we were originally. Rinse/Repeat. Overall, pretty easy.

Soloed as an 80 Resto Druid. I used my PvP set (all Hateful/Deadly kodohide) to do it for the STA and Armor. This took a very long time; i used at least 3 innervates.
Cast rejuv, LBx1, go bear and attack. Farie Fire/Demoralizing Roar, Enrage, spam Maul/Lacerate. When he knocks you back, rejuv, LBx1, shift bear, rinse repeat.
make sure that when you are knocked back that you run back to the moonwell.
Takes a very long time, but i was never in danger of dying.
Not sure if I could have done this in my PvE set (full Epic 213/226 gear) due to lower HP/Armor.

Unlike Dr. Weavil, he will mind control ANYONE, not just the highest on his threat list. So this is definitely NOT soloable as a hunter or lock that is relying on a pet/demon to tank, as you will be mind controlled as soon as you send your "tank" in. Even geared at 80, the best bet is to get a group of 5 or more, including at least one mage for easy sheeping, or to find someone who can solo it (druid tanks and most plate wearers), and just watch, out of combat, until 10% or so and then unload on him to finish it off. Good luck.

Solo'd as an 80 fury warrior in decent (naxx10/25) tanking gear, in defensive stance.
A 20 minute fight. I Took 200k damage. 77% of my healing came from bloodthirst, not sure how I would have done it without bloodthirst. Just make sure you put it up immediately on every cooldown. The rest came from enraged generation and lifeblood.
I stayed near the moonwell and kept turning around each time I got knocked back. That seemed to be the only place that was save from evades.
I kept him shouted, clapped and sundered the whole time. Not sure how necessary it was. He was hitting me for about 600 damage when he did manage to hit me, which was pretty rarely. Most of the damage is spell damage.

Took a while to figure out the best place to put the Twilight Corrupter but an Enhancement Shaman (80) can solo this monster. Normally I am Elemental and hadn't tried to do the Corrupter as such spec but here are some tips for those melee shammies.
Usage of what totems would be SoE, Healing Stream, WF, and Searing Totem.
Use Flameshock for the DoT damage to get the best out of this fight.
Save your Maelstrom Weaponx5 stacks for Healing Wave as much as possible. He can hit hard and the debuff can tick quite heftly.
Water Shield over Lightning Shield, need to keep that mana up as much as possible.
Getting low on health? Use your rage as a mini-shieldwall and get your health back up.
Absolutelu
NO WOLVES
at all. The Twilight Corrupter will MC you and kill the wolves and reset the fight at 100%
Lastly the best place to kill him is beneath the ramp between the pillars. The knockback is a nasty ability and often hindered healing and positioning (he liked smacking back in the mountains). Good luck to all 80s that wish to solo this guy. :)

His Mind-control ability is
Creature of Nightmare
; though in-game tooltip says "up to level 135" instead of what's listed on wowhead.
This effect increases target's damage by 100% and melee haste also by 100%. Removable with Ice Block / paladin bubble, but not with the pvp trinket.

It is, in fact, possible to solo this boss as a level 80 hunter.
Here's how I did it: a BM spec with Tenacity pet, both specced with a heavy emphasis on durability and health regen. A Glyph of Mending is essential and Glyph of Feign Death very helpful. Also very helpful are, as mentioned above, a Medallion of Heroism or similar Battlemaster trinket with a reusable heal, and a Lesser Flask of Resistance.
Cast Mend Pet and send the beast in, then
immediately
feign death before he reaches the boss. Eventually Soul Corruption will knock you back and break the feign. Once Feign is ready again, wait until just after the Corrupter casts Soul Corruption, then cast Mend Pet and feign
immediately
afterwards. If you start to take some damage from the corruption you can use your trinket, but only at the same time you cast Mend Pet so that you feign the very next instant. You can stand out of range of Soul Corruption, but you'll have to move back in whenever it's time for the next heal. If you follow this pattern and do
nothing
else except to fire a few shots and Bestial Wrath when he's at <20,000 HP, you can kill him, if you are phenomenally patient and willing to practice. Aspect of the Viper, Spirit Bond, and Roar of Sacrifice are safe to use; Bestial Wrath is risky except at the very end.
If your pet gets knocked under the world (sometimes happens near the moonwell) the Corruptor will follow him; just bring him back by setting him on passive. Wait until just after a Soul Corruption before casting Mend Pet; most screwups and MCs happen because a knockback right after Mend prevents a feign. Keep your arrows/bullets unequipped until you're ready for the coup de grace because then if you do get MCed, you'll be so ineffective you may be able to feign when it wears off without killing your pet in the meantime. Finally, make sure that as you deliver your shots at the end you Bestial Wrath your pet--you will probably get MCed right before he dies, and you need to make sure your pet can fight the last 5k or so HP alone without your being forced to fear him. Not only would that stop your pet's damage, it might even reset the Corrupter...which, after 15 minutes of chomping, is a real drag.

Soloed just now as Prot pally in Naxx-25/Ulduar-10 gear - no sweat, once I got him placed properly. I tried to place him with me hiding under the ramp, but he reset and ran off before I could get him in place - and seemed like he would reset on some of the knockbacks as well. I backed him straight up to the treetrunk on the ground near the moonwell, though, and just stood in place and played him like a target dummy. Guru's Elixir, Dragonfin Filet, Greater Blessing of Sanc, Seal of Light, Judged Light mostly, with occasional Wisdom when mana dipped a little. Shadow Aura to remove most of the DoT. Thanks to Raxiel above, your post encouraged me to try it. :)

Just solo'ed this boss as a Level 80 Discipline Priest using my PvP talent spec which included
Reflective Shield
and
Rapture
. I was in mostly 25-man Ulduar gear, with the
T8 4-piece bonus
and about 2400 Spell Power self-buffed.
I should also mention that I used
Soul of the Dead
, which was VERY helpful with mana regen, since it can proc from Reflective Shield crits (I had about 24% crit with my gear / spec).
The fight took a total of about 20 minutes. Basically I shielded myself every time
Weakened Soul
fell off, kept my DoTs up, nuked him with Holy Fire / Penance / Smite, and healed myself whenever he broke through my shield and actually did damage to me.
I pulled him into the open so that his knockback wouldn't put me on top of any obstacles that might cause him to evade. Each time he knocked me back, I would turn him around to face the opposite direction so that the next knockback would put me back where I came from.
When you begin to run low on mana,
DO NOT USE YOUR SHADOWFIEND
. If you do, he will Mind Control you, kill your Fiend, and reset, healing to 100%.
When I was low on mana, I stopped all DPS spells and proceeded to only use Shield and my wand to damage him (still healing myself when necessary, obviously). If your gear is good enough, you should slowly regain mana this way due to Rapture every time he breaks through your shield. Once I was back up to ~80% mana, I resumed DoTing and nuking him.
It's a long long fight, but with patience it is very soloable for a well geared Disc Priest.
Make sure to keep Inner Fire up at all times. He hits for about 2k on cloth, and crits for 3-4k. Be very mindful of your health, and quickly heal yourself to full if you fall below 50%.

Soloed as an elemental shaman with full 213s with two or three 226s...
DPSd as normally, kept water shield up as well as mana spring totem, and used thunderstorm whenever it was off a cooldown. Whenever he knocked back I would heal because it gave you 4-5 seconds of unattacked time. It took me about 5 minutes due to the constant knockbacks and heals. At the end of the fight I had about 40% mana and full health. All in all, not too bad.

Soloed as a druid.
I'm balance, so I tried like that first. Didn't go well. Twice I got him down to 30 percent or so, healing as needed, but I ran out of mana. I used Innervate and popped a potion, but that still probably wouldn't have been enough. I thought about switching to my healing set for more mana, or my pvp set for more survivability, but that would have hurt my dps. He reset both times - I thought I was keeping him close enough to the spawn point, turning around after a knockback like someone said upthread, but apparently not. One time, if he hadn't reset, I would have had to shadowmeld to keep from getting killed. So I switched to feral. I used to be feral until WotLK so I still have a feral set, just out of habit. There are a few pieces of T7 and an epic Naxx staff in my feral set, but it's mostly level 80 instance drops and rep rewards from Northrend factions, and even three pieces of level 70 gear still. I didn't want to take any chances, so I bought an epic necklace with emblems of heroism and enchants for the gear that didn't have them yet including mongoose for the staff, and tried again.
This time, I didn't even drop below 85 percent health. I don't think I used barkskin, but I know I never needed to use Frenzied Regeneration or shift forms to heal. Now I wish I hadn't spent all that money on getting my feral gear up to snuff...
tl;dr version: A level 80 balance druid might be able to solo it if you're well-geared and specced right, but save yourself some trouble and go feral for a day. If you don't already have a feral set, level 78-80 blues should be more than good enough.
And some more general advice for anyone: he evades at the drop of a hat. I actually made three attempts as balance, but on one attempt I let him knock me up on that tree branch near where he spawns. I got a few seconds of uninterrupted dps while he ran up the branch after me, but when I jumped down, he reset instead of going after me again.

Oh my gosh, this is the most useful piece of advice here. +1 from me.
Yeah, he evaded few times for me too until I tried this strategy you described.
Pull before moonwell, let him knock you back, turn around so he will knock you back into moonwell, run out of it and around him and so on. If he knocks you behind moonwell into slopes, he will probably evade and get back to full HP.
P.S. Soloed as a Resto Druid, long tedious fight, he's no danger to me, only takes a lot of time and risk of evading / resetting.
Basically I kept Rejuv + LB up, Swiftmend if needed, shifted into Bear to keep Demo Roar all the time up (helps a lot) and then spammed spells or Bear abilities, both do pitiful damage but w/e. The only hard part is to keep him from evading all this time.

Solo'ed as Affliction 55/0/16, have to use Imp in Phase Shift otherwise he MC's you or the pet, and you're done for.
Hits for about ~1.5k, adds a Shadow damage DoT that ticks for about ~850 - Shadow Ward absorbs it completely.
Biggest problem I had was finding a spot where the Knockback won't cause him to evade. Best place I found is inside the tree trunk, which you run past to engage him, worked like a charm:

Soloed as protection warrior (TotC25 half TotC 10man half gear).
Used Burnished Quel'Serra (just couse I love the model) with Lifeward for some little healing.
DO NOT use trinkets from Brewfest (the ones that summon Brewmaiden). I mean DO NOT use the "on use" effect. He can mind control You, You will kill the maiden...and You will stay mind controlled while he goes to 100% HP again.
Most of the fight is pure "smack him". Used Last stand + commanding shout + enraged regeneration at about 60% to go all the way to 100% (he was at about 60% then). After that I went back to battle shout for some extra damage.
All the damage made to me was mainly from the DoT he puts. It throws You away - about 20 yards, so You can charge him straight away back. It's on 15sec cooldown. The DoT itself, does more or less 600-800 damage every 5 sec, so about 1.5k - 2.4k total.
And one more thing. Try not to get to far away from the fountain. He resets not so far away.
Good luck :)

Killed him the other day with a 73 Arms Warrior, 78 Prot Paladin, 78 Holy Priest, 76 Assassination Rogue, 77 Affliction Warlock, and 78 Feral Druid. Although we were concerned about the mind control since we had no mage, we found that other forms of crowd control were more than sufficient. The result was an incredibly fun fight that lasted around 5-6 minutes. Since everyone was watching for the mind control, the controlled person was instantly rooted, feared (either by Psychic Scream, Intimidating Shout, or the warlock's fear), and blinded.
One thing to keep in mind about the Twilight Corrupter is that he keeps one person mind-controlled at all times. As soon as he releases someone, he grabs hold of someone else. He will mind-control the tank occasionally (as others have mentioned), so it's nice to have at least two people who feel comfortable tanking him (for us, the paladin and druid.)
All in all, a great fight, and my favorite part of the Green Scepter Shard questline so far. :)

Only one fun thing was 40 level paladin, who tried to help me and got mind control. I killed him.
Ofc, didn't use pet.

I just soloed him as a lvl 80 retri paladin, in Icc gear and it took me about 2 minutes to take him down. My hp never dropped more than 80%. I also suggest when pulling the mob to stack on the tree, or somewhere else where his knockbacks wont affect you. Anyway, its really easy to solo.

Solo'd as warlock in pvp affliction spec... rather easy took maybe 3 minutes in i264 gear. CoE + Corruption + Unstable Affliction + Haunt whenever off cooldown, keep draining life. He hits for 2-3k on cloth with a couple of nasty 6k crits, but if you don't let your health drop below 50% nothing to worry about. Knockback can be annoying but is actually helpful to regain some health as it doesn't cause any fall damage and you still regain health from Corruption.
As all the other posts state - DO NOT use pet.

No problem as a protection Paladin.
While I was looking around for him I noticed Ysondre has spawned in the same area too, so I took her out first. After killing Ysondre, this guy was a complete joke.
Thanks Blizz for making Paladins imba =S

Just did this solo as a priest in 258/264 gear (holy gear), using a disc spec with reflective shield. All I can say is; this guys reset mechanic is the most broken one in the game. If he so much as misses 2 melee swings because you're out of range, he'll reset, which means when he boots you around, and you back up even a bit, you're done. I had to run at him every time he kicked me to keep him from resetting. I can understand not wanting him to be dragged to SW and the like but this is just ridiculous. It took me 12 mins to kill him, no mana issues, no near death experiences, but that was only after having the darn thing reset on me like 15 times, so all in all it took over an hour.
This guy is a pain for a low dps class. Make sure and spit on him when you're done for me :P

Just soloed as a T10 Shadow Priest.
I let him knock me back from the moonwell, then ran behind him to turn him around, kept my shield and dots up on him at all time and used my normal rotation *without* Shadow Word: Death. His damage would generally eat through my shield just before weakened soul ran out, but I never dipped past 60% health thanks to Vampiric Embrace (oh how I love thee).
Had a couple of false starts - the first time silly me summoned my Shadow Fiend when I was low on mana (bam, Mind Control and reset) and the second time my staff Nibelung summoned a Val'kyr and the same thing happened. Luckily I could change to my (currently ungemmed) Mag'hari Chieftain's Staff via my Argent Gruntling to avoid that happening again. Had to disperse once around 35% of his health when I was down to 30% mana, but apart from that nothing really stressful. I was down to 1% mana when he fell over.
The knockback gave me enough time to either reapply my shield or to apply a dot without being damaged, I was expecting to have to shift out of shadow form to heal myself through this fight but luckily I didn't need to. I'll have to keep the Val'kyr in mind next time I need to solo something that mind controls, though. I guess the same could be said for Abracadaver, but with less danger unless you have the summon linked with a macro somewhere.

Soloing this fight is HARD.
My main is a level 80 holy priest in ilevel 232-264 mixed gear. I tried taking this guy down as both holy and disc specs. Disc was painfully slow. I tried it numerous times, just wanding and using dots, and after 20 minutes I'd have him almost dead and he'd reset. Even if he was right next to me. Mid-swing, he'd reset. It's super frustrating. As disc I didn't have problems getting close to death, though I did have some mana issues towards the end because of how long the fight was with just healing priest weak dots. After an hour or two of trying various techniques I gave up.
Came back later specced as shadow. I was wearing mostly my holy gear with a few +hit pieces. As shadow I came very close to killing him more than once, but the resets plagued me. I decided to flask for more dps and I grabbed the glyph of disperse so I could make sure my mana was always full. After a couple false starts I got him.
As shadow, keep your shield up on every cooldown and use disperse every cooldown. I had weak dps with my healing gear (under 2k) but had no problem killing him once I used that method.
Also, it works to just keep turning around every time he runs to you after the knockback. You might get unlucky still and have him evade, but if you're diligent about turning EVERY TIME it's less likely.
Good luck!

Soloed him today as a level 80 Hunter with 3k gs, a turtle and no buffs. Terrible terrible preparations. Which is why the fight took 35 minutes.
Pretty much just sent the turtle in and used a feign death mend pet macro (FD isn;t on GCD so it can be cast practically simultaneously making sure you don;t get MC).
So yeah, just click the macro whenever the cooldwon on FD is up and stay at max mend pet range... and wait.

1 guild called for help and 2 other major guilds popped up there. We were with almost 100 man i think.
We just started running from graveyard and kept some OOC ressers alive and some priests with dots, we dotted him till dead.
Was a very impressed fight, died only 4 times. Took 20 minutes to kill him.

What an amazing encounter, I don't know how you can't zerg it but we totally Sleepered this guy. Graveyard running FTW.
We went on an illfated if run afterwards too.

This guy IMO is a completely broken fight, but once you get the strat down it's pretty much a matter of luck. Took us 1 try to come up with a strat and 2 tries to get him down.
He does an AE knockback pretty frequently that does direct damage then lays a 700-800 dot on you. The dot ticks 2 times in a 5-8 second intervals so it's possible to bandage after taking one tick of the dot.
The debuff text says that it's supposed to do 100 damage a second and reduce all stats by 100 - I think it lasts like 8-10 seconds, but clearly from my description of the dot it's not doing what it's supposed to be doing.
Besides the dot, he grows in size every time he kills somebody. Once he kills like 3-4 people, he'll be hitting for like 4-5k against plate so this is definately NOT a fight you want people dying in. We were able to kill him with 40 people with 3 deaths.
Finally, he randomly mind controls people which doesn't seem too bad except for that it's possible to mind control the main tank. This is a complete aggro wipe. We had him to 50% our second time with 1 death, then the tank got MC'd and we wiped.
Edit: We got a funny message once we killed him for the AQ scepter questline (read the PS):

This is very easily done with a 40 man raid, possibly even 30 or 25. Just have everyone stand behind the pillar, and the MT tanking with his back against the steps on the other side of the pillar.
Hits for about 800 on a Tier 2 tank, nothing real special. Keep in mind though that even though he gets stronger when people die, you don't start to see significant results until ~10 or so. Not sure if they nerfed him, or the poster claiming to be hit for 5k when five people was wrong, but we have ~5 people dead and he was barely hitting for over 1k. It did seem he had spike damage reaching 2k, but nothing near 5k
If your guild has done Firemaw, then this should be very easy. There is actually a "safe spot" on the pillar in which you can heal the MT without getting knocked back.

40 Manned him.
He does an AoE knockback every 10 secs, maybe sooner. It puts a Shadow Damage dot on you. He also MC's someone every so often. He gets stronger when someone dies.

just use the scenery.. think of positions.. wipe a few time to learn what he does and what he doesn't and think how you can exploit that. it is a real easy fight. we did it in 1.5 hour including beating Taerar who was in the way (only second Taerar kill for us) we hadn't seen him before we wiped 3 times got postions right and the last time NOBODY DIED at all and we could have done it with 30 ppl

Killed him yesterday with a group of 19 people level 70.
The fight itself is very Firemaw-like. Keep the raid behind column and the tank with his rear to stairs so he didnt fly away, and it is pretty easy. We wiped once but killed him on second time. The main problem here is healing, better get more rogues/melee dps as casters can get interrupted often with knockback.

Just killed this guy with 27 people on Westfall server, level 60's, most in BWL gear. He has a knockback that deals damage and adds the debuff that is mentioned in other comments. The knockback is random and the debuff lasts 15 seconds. On one attempt, he was hitting us with the knockback and reapplying the debuff every 2-3 seconds until we wiped. Might have been a bug, not sure. The knockback range is 40yds, as a Hunter I was able to avoid it completely by staying at max range (41yds).
He also has a mind control ability, best to keep the person poly'd or feared. Hunters should refrain from multi shot (of course).
Raid needs to be careful about threat as he seems to have an aggro wipe, thus, we used 2 tanks. Took us a few attempts to get him, using the pillar for LOS. One attempt I was 3rd on threat, he wiped the tanks threat and I jumped to first, he resisted my feign and it was a wipe. For hunters, it's best to feign regularly, I began doing it around 20% threat on my Tiny Threat meter.
This fight isn't about burning him down, but more just being patient and focused. The actual kill took about 4-5 minutes, once we figured out the mechanics.

This boss is pretty simple if you treat him a bit like Firemaw. My guild hid behind the pillar while 2 tanks gained threat with their backs to the wall of the stairs, we had 1 dps behind the boss as bait to see when it was safe for melee to go in and hit him a couple times before returning behind the pillar. Healers positioned themselves in a way that they wouldnt get punted away but could still heal tanks and bait dps. Take it slow and avoid DOTs incase a threat wipe does happen.
Few things to know avoid standing on top of the pillar edge because that can ^&*! out the boss and cause threat wipes. We found this out from experience wiping several times for hours.

Just tried to help a guildie with this in 3.4.1:
It will reset after moving about 50y from the spawn point, making soloing for non self-healing classes a lot harder.
The knockback will send you almost to the reset distance.
Boss is immune to roots.
The MC,
Creature of Nightmare
, is listed as a charm, but is not removed by
Tremor Totem
or
Purge
.
The MC increases the targets dmg by 200% and haste by 100%, so you don't want to really try to off tank it, but depending on the tank and the mc'd, it should be okay.
The MC lasts 30s, and it seems to only MC the current threat target, so will want an off-tank and someone that can keep a cc up for a while like a mage, lock, or rogue.
So will want a mt, ot, heal, dd and cc, so at least 3-4ppl.
Self-healing classes, like DK, War, Pld, dru, priest, etc should still be able to solo.

Not difficult to solo on a geared level 80 elemental shaman. He doesn't MC his main target. Enhance, prot paladin, and ret could probably get away with it, too.

I have seen a lot over the last 18 years on this game. But this one was a first for me. Thanksgiving day 2023 on wotlk classic realm Grobbulus, a couple of horde brought one of these guys to Stormwind. Completely and utterly brilliant.
Retail, this is what you are missing. The old ways in the old game are what brought us together to form what Blizzard and World of Warcraft became, not sitting around the campfire singing kumbaya while holding hands scared to death that we might offend someone.
