They give out a horde version of this particular mount but also give out alliance AND horde equivilants of the non grand one so I'd assume they'll give out the alliance grand version too.

The item tool tip does not say it caries two other people. The spell tool tip however, does mention you can carry two passengers.

Just some more blizzard typos, it does indeed carry 2 passengers.

Clarification: Possibly more of a space limitation than an actual typo.

I just hit exalted today and there are no vendors on this mount, but it has great graphics.
Submitted a screenshot but not sure how long it takes wowhead to approve.

No vendors on this mount, but an achievement for purchasing it.

I was able to invite someone to my party and they were able to hop onto one of the back seats, so this is now absolutely confirmed as being a multiperson mount.

Correct, this is working as intended and is not a bug.

The only mount that is supposed to have vendors is https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=44235. Hence why this mount is only 10k (8k at Exalted) as compared to the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth which is 20k(16k at Exalted).

...Not really intended, but working mostly right. Meaning, it's following the mechanics semi-correctly. The multi-person mounts are technically vehicles. So, therefore, mounting up is not replacing the vehicle. You should notice, however, that 60 seconds after riding on a mount on top of a vehicle (the only ones I know the mount on mount trick works with are the mammoths, though there may be others), you get disconnected.

I believe Blizzard has said that they are looking into changing this effect (the stacking of mounts deal), as it isn't really the intended functionality. I don't have citation of this, this is from the top of my head.

I'd say it's best to get this if you only want to carry people around, but if you want vendors then be expecting to pay at least 10k more (Traveler's Tundra Mammoth)

I would say it's a RP mount. Tho giving your lowbie friends a ride while helping them with some quest before they can get their own 100% mount I can see how this is useful.

The reason you don't take fall damage on this is because it's technically not a mount, but a vehicle. Vehicles don't take fall damage, much like the Mechano-Hog.

Edit: Blizzard broke it :( Now all passengers and rides are vulnerable to fall damage and Mammoth no longer has a health bar.

Using the opportunity high here on the page to say that this mount will cost 8000g at Exalted, and have 2 extra seats for your friends to sit in while in party, but there are no vendors on this mount.

Just as a side note, Hunters get a speed buff on this mount when you have Aspect of the Pack active. Aspect of the Cheetah however doesn't apply the boost. Found this by mistake when I mounted with the buff on.

Edit: It starts out at normal speed sometimes then increases.

They're less expensive, without vendors, it only costs 8k gold, which is basically just a tiny bit more than an epic flier, sure most people who have vehicle mounts don't use the vehicle portion, most noticeably are the Tundra and motorcycle, but whatever

I think it should be noted that while it can make traveling in cities difficult, the height provided allows one to run through small rivers and streams that a smaller mount would otherwise swim (and thus slow down to swim speed).

If you're feeling singularly sadistic and are a paladin or warrior, you could always leap off a cliff with passengers on board and then bubble/charge to survive the fall, leaving them to plummet...obviously, I'd never do such a thing if I owned one. Ever.

If you're low on money but want this achievement badly without caring about the mount itself: you can buy the mount for 8k, get the achie and resell it for 2500gold to the vendor. It saves you 2500gold if you don't want the mount itself, just the points.

Actually it is a 31k rep bonus from that quest (for a human) and it takes you from hated to revered. I bought the Ice mammoth (normal) right after that quest.
