Quite obviously this is Borean Tundra's, and Blizzard's, very own version of the Portugese Man o' War.
Hope they're not as nasty as their IRL counterparts.

I have been buying up hundreds of these ones from auction house. They are dirt cheap now since they aren't used for anything. I am hoping some future patch will change this, and make them super useful, thus making me a small fortune.

I'd suggest they make a food that has a chance to increase your crit chance by 10% for 20 seconds. It could also be one of the few foods that restores just mana instead of health and mana.

My recipe idea would be:

Requires Level 70
Use: Restores 12960 mana over 30 sec. If you spend at least 10 seconds eating you will become well fed and gain a chance to increase your critical chance rating by 10% for 15 seconds. This effect cannot occur more than once per minute.

Requires Borean Man O' War (2), Fresh Apple Juice, Northern Spices

The novelty of being able to throw jellyfish at people would make this fish awesome.

Perhaps a sort of eye-stinging weapon would be neat :) like how tailors can make the little nets.. maybe fisherpeople that have high enough skill cld make a little "bomb" of... POISON out of them lol... just an idea :P

Seems like it'll be used in a cooking recipe in 3.1:
Black Jelly, uses 3 fish, ~~restores 18,000 health and 15,000 mana~~, which is more than other cooked foods.

Edit: The food was changed in 3.1.2 to restore 45000 health and 38400 mana over 1 min, which is 22500 health and 19200 mana over 30 seconds.
This actually makes them restore equally fast as other foods, be it ~~conjured~~ or cooked.

Edit 2: Okay, strudels got buffed a little since the Cataclysm, but it used to be the same.

I'm seeing about a 33% drop rate for the coast of Icecrown, open water fishing. Mostly Rockfin Grouper and the occasional Imperial Manta Ray.

After 330 effective fishing skill in coastal named waters of Borean Tundra, I saw a dramatic reduction in the amount of junk catches. Instead of the 75-85% junk I was catching it switched to being barely 30% of the catch.

After 200 casts, I had 34 of these. Saving them up for when I can make the jelly, but, the raw fish also sell awfully well on the AH (1g per on my server).

Of course, the "no-junk" (term taken from el's) level for the Borean Tundra, Dragonblight, Howling Fjord, and Grizzly Hills is 475.

My personal suggestion is that if you are after this fish, you can expect an extremely reasonable amount of your catch to be no-junk starting at effective skill of 330-350. Yes, it's still an irritation to catch junk, but, the 65-75% of your catch that isn't junk is quite a bit better then anything in say Outland.

For those actually wanting to know where to find the schools of Borean Man O' War, they can be found in the vicinity of Une'pe on the South East coast of Borean Tundra, and in the middle of the Riplash Ruins at the far South of Borean. In several hours of flying/fishing (unfortunately not fly-fishing..) I had only seen 3 schools. (2 by Une'pe and 1 in the ruins.)

I just happened to look at the places where you could catch this fish, and I noticed that it could be caught in "Crusaders' Coluseum: Trial of the Crusader"? Can anyone explain this?

Same thing happening here today.... never had a problem getting these before but today all I get from fishing from Borean Man O' War pools are empty loot windows or the occasional pygmy suckerfish.

My skill is maxed out (450 Fishing skill, Epic pole with Truesilver line and a Sharpened Fish Hook lure).

No Man O' Wars caught from roughly 40 pools now.

Is this broken?

Bah why do blizzard always do fishes with no use?

Remember the ^&*! in plaugelands... tried fishing for ashbringer (like all the morons) and got loads of white crapfish..

So I guess we'll see some pathetic attempt to save the day in upcomming patches... maybe a hand in quest... yeah... let's do hand ins by the 100s of them to some wierd faction that will give you... nothing useful, but maybe something fun...
