Very nice for restro shamans who all ready have nice mp5 and no not need to jem for it. Otherwse you should go for jem with mp5.

Luminous Ametrine is one of/the best gems to socket your items as if you are a Discipline Priest.
After scanning many compendium for gear choices, if you are still in need of intellect (under 30k buffed mana) or thereabouts, socketing with Luminous Ametrine instead of one +23 spellpower and one +20 intellect gem, the Luminous cut provides one extra spellpower, making it an easy choice for me.

Of course, if you run often as Holy you may wish to consider the spirit alternatives. Spirit is roughly 2:1 with mp5, but it's a personal choice.
