Totems, Idols and Librams are a great source of extra abilities only available to a few certain other classes in replace of a secondary ranged weapon.
This one is a better PvP idol if the 81 extra damage is modified by shred's 225% modifier, rather than just at the end. Or to express it with math:
2.25*(damage + 81) + 405
2.25*(damage) + 405 +81
The first way would be very good, the second way, not so much.
Mangle gets a 160% modifier, and the same question about where the +28 extra damage goes applies to that too.
Man...this Idol combined with the Tier 5 set bonus....godly
u'll be happy after u get this idol cos u'll crit cloth wearers ~3k with shred
I'm curious whether this extra damage is modified by the +30% bonus from mangle. Anyone know?
you figure with a name like everbloom idol, it would be the one that increases healing from lifebloom... blizzard makes silly decisions
Sadly, this is still the best PvE damage idol. Nothing for us in raiding unless you are healing.
Anyone else think the dev's made an error getting these two items names & uses mixed up?
Seems to me they got the names & effects mixed up....we can see the dev's don't play Druids >.<
Is this still best for dps over idol of terror
Any idea if this gets multiplied by the +30% of mangle and 2x from crits?
nice toy but it should be cheaper since its useless while soloing, which is where you will get to dps most of the time as a feral druid. unless you spend your time stealthing in for a pounce>mangle>shred, but then you only get to use it once, twice if you get the chance to maim before your mob dies

They don't design the game around
particular social circumstances.
I DPS as Feral all the time. Sometimes purely as a DPSer, sometimes as DPS/offtank.
Wish I had the link to the really good kitty dps guide I saw. Basically your dps as kitty comes from shred and rip. You only use mangle if you can't get behind the oppenent or to keep up the debuff. My general rotation is Mangle, Shred, Shred, Rip. I also have macros to switch to everbloom idol when I shred and idol of feral shadows when I rip.
BTW, this idol is awesome for solo play. You open with Pounce and shredx2 with this puppy on and usually your target will be down to half health. Then switch to idol of terror and mangle away.
Ok tell me if I'm just wasting my time, i've made macros for this idol and idol of terror
first macro is
/equip Idol of Terror
/cast Mangle (Cat)(Rank 3)
and the second is
/equip Everbloom Idol
/cast Shred(Rank 7)
and my rotation is
tiger's fury>pounce>mangle macro(hope for proc)> shred macro till 4CP ( 5if it crits on thrid one) Wait for 70+ energy (preferably 80+), Rip, mangle repeat. this keeps up the idol that useful for the attack being used.
once i get one i will have a macro for Idol of Feral Shadows
or are the macros really not helping? it seems to me they are, but I'm fairly new to playing a druid any info would be great.
Can you change idols in combat? Not that it'd be worth it I agree, but I had never had any purpose for trying it.
Is this damage bonus subject to the casting-time rule, stating that the full effect listed is only granted to spells of 3sec cast-time or over, and everything that's shorter takes a hit?
This is an essential for ANY feral druid who loves cat form. +50 dmg w/ each Shred? What feral / PvP Drood wouldn't want that?
"Gilldel" lvl60 Uther All.
it probibly adds to the base damage, precrit and all. Should add a lot of damage.
I'm pretty dang sure you're not going to get a 2000 shred non-crit unless you are blowing loads of consumable and then backstabbing lowby mages. If you ARE getting 2000 shreds, then quit wasting consumables on lowbies ;) Other wise, adding 80dmg to the non-crit 750 shreds I land on lvl 70 mobs is dang nice, especially if it is base damage and gets multiplied on crit. go go druids.
i've attempted to calculate the amount of AP this is for shred.
since shred is 225% dmg 81/2.25 = 36
36 x 14 = 504 - because 14 AP = 1 dps
so this is supposedly worth 504 AP for shred, thats INSANE, i dont know if this is correct though but seems like it is.
and this is not even considering the mangle debuff, dunno if it works with it though
And the difference is very nice indeed, with about 1970 AP in my PvP gear I went from 1600-ish to 1800-ish crits on plate, 2000-ish to 2250-ish on leather and 2200-ish to 2450-ish on clothies.
This is a must-have for any serious pvp druid :D
Got this idol yesterday and i have been hitting 2.7k shreds with it in kara (mangle + tiger's fury)
i love this idol. go feral druids ^_^
Just got this idol... it's really sweet.
How to get: You'll need 15 badges of justice to purchase this from the Shattrath vendor. Each heroic boss killed drops 1 badge. You can only run a heroic instance once a day. However, nothing is stopping you from running multiple different heroics in that one day eg: Heroic SV, mech, SP, ramparts.
Popular opinion is that heroic mechanaar in tempest keep is the easiest to obtain badges. It's basically a slightly buffed version of normal mech and if you have a group that cruises through it, you can probably do well in heroic mech. A full heroic mech run gives 5 badges.
Effect: As for damage increase, I'm glad to report that my shreds have gone from about 1100 against a fully sundered Attumen to about 1200. Crits have gone from 2400 to about 2600. Overall, seeing about 3% increase in DPS for just 3 nights worth of work. Very nice indeed.
i get 2.5k shreds with mangle without this, got 2415 ap, 34% crit
note that when u equip Mangle idol, dmg goes from
317 - 346 on a tooltip, so i think its the same for this idol for shred so it does gets modifyes by dmg and crits, imm 3 dabges from gettin it,
