Make sure the meta gem doesn't require additional gems to be active. If it says that it requires 2 yellow and 2 red gems, you must have those color gems already socketed somewhere in your equipped gear before the meta gem will become active.

it's based on wether you have a gem that matches a socket...
red socket x1 with a red, orange, or purple counts as 1 red gem... in meta terms... etc, (i'm not listing them all out) i found that out hard way on my rogue :P

what do u mean so dose it have 2 all b in the same piece of armor or can it b in the chest and 1 b in the bracer wtf

No the gems colors that you need just have to be socketed in your gear somewhere

like your going to put a meta into the head peice n it requires 2 blue and one red
you have a red gem in your chest peice
a purple in your legs
and a blue in your gloves.. your good to go

once it's activated can you change out your gear to different gems ect? or does it deactivate?

Only works if you have the required gems equipped in your gear, so for example if you have met the requirements then change your leg armor and equip different gems you would lose the metas effect. Unless of course your new gems also meet the requirement in which case you're good to go :). Hope that made sense.
