Assassination Rogue Best in Slot PvP Gear
PvP Role for Assassination Rogue DPS in Wrath of the Lich King
Rogues are powerful damage dealers in PvP but they also come equipped with powerful crowd control, interrupts, defensive cooldowns, and mobility abilities as well. Large group engagements in battlegrounds find the rogue sometimes unable to accomplish much, but they excel in small group engagements and one on one combat like in arenas.
The main strength of the Assassination specialization for rogues is very high sustained damage output through

. As long as you can stay on your target, this specialization has the highest sustained damage output which is great for forcing defensive play from your enemies. While Assassination does have the wonderful

talent, this doesn't offer nearly the mobility of Subtlety's

.
Assassination's advantage over Subtlety is higher sustained damage output. There are two main drawbacks for Assassination. The first is much less mobility without access to the phenomenal
暗影步
spell. The second drawback is that your maximum damage potential relies on placing damage over time effects like

on your target, which restricts the use of
致盲
and
凿击
making your decisions a little less flexible.
All the different specializations of rogue get access to two new abilities in Wrath of the Lich King that are great additions for PvP. The first one is

which is like a turbo-

. It removes both main hand and off hand weapons, shields, and even ranged weapons from the target for 10 seconds. This completely prevents the use of any weapon based abilities and is excellent against other

s and more - anyone who relies on a weapon is temporarily shut down by this ability.
The second new ability is

. In PvP of course the threat redirection is not important, but the boost in the other player's damage output is very good. This can help your arena team secure kills on the enemy, offering a substantial boost in damage to one of your teammates exactly when it is needed.
PvP Viability for Assassination Rogue DPS in Wrath of the Lich King
Assassination rogues are a decent choice in PvP but generally considered weaker than the Subtlety specialization. Assassination excels at dealing very high sustained damage output through

. This makes them really great when paired with a good team that can help support the rogue. Friendly dispels to remove roots or snares really help an Assassination rogue stay on their target and continue dealing that high damage output.
Subtlety is considered the all-around strongest PvP specialization and the benefits are pretty clear. Subtlety brings the most with utility from

, and a extra strong defensive cooldown in

Arena Viability for Assassination Rogue DPS in Wrath of the Lich King
Assassination rogues are a good choice in arena in the right team. They will need sufficient support to help with removing slows and immobilize effects from the rogue, since they are more easily kited than a Subtlety rogue. A good Assassination rogue will have weapon swaps setup for different poisons so they can control when they want to be applying

and when they want their target free of damage-over-time effects in order to have

as an option.
Battleground Viability for Assassination Rogue DPS in Wrath of the Lich King
Battlegrounds that involve large group engagements like Alterac Valley or battles for the Blacksmith in Arathi Basin can find a rogue a little bit less useful than usual. In large group engagements the rogue's toolkit just isn't as effective. They can still contribute by trying to land some

s on enemies in the back lines or hope to assassinate a healer before they inevitably have more spells and crowd control thrown at them than they can handle from the large group of enemies.
Small skirmishes in battlegrounds are where the rogue shines, where they can control the flow of the fight and manage the enemy abilities properly.

can help control enemies while you focus on your preferred kill target.
Best PvP Talent Builds for Assassination Rogue DPS in Wrath of the Lich King
Assassination 44/4/23 Rogue DPS PVP Talent Build
The final talents in the Assassination tree are definitely not essential, and going only 44 points deep allows enough points to pick up a lot of exceptional PvP talents from the Subtlety tree including

allows you to very easily and quickly load up your opponent with a bunch of different poison debuffs, making it unlikely for the enemy to be able to dispel the important ones.

is great if you are with a healer, but if you are not this can be skipped and instead opt for more points in

.
In any team with another damage dealer,

2v2 Arena Teams for Assassination Rogue DPS in Wrath of the Lich King

Rogue / Mage is one of the most powerful team compositions in the 2's bracket, because of how strong both classes are. Both Rogues and Mages have potent crowd control abilities such as

Both Rogue and Mage also have the ability to quickly swap targets and pump out major burst damage. Mages have the ability to control when a

that healer is in big trouble and maybe dead. Because of this massive burst, swap potential, and potent crowd control, the Rogue / Mage composition is extremely dangerous in 2's.z
While this is a classically good composition for rogue, Assassination rogue is not as well suited to this composition as Subtlety. The use of

goes against one of this team's main strengths which is being able to quickly crowd control and swap targets since a damage over time effect will prevent most of the crowd control used by this team combination. The reduced mobility of Assassination also hinders the rogue's ability to quickly change targets when the situation calls for it.

Rogue + Rogue has always been a fearsome team combination that can grab wins with just a little bit of luck. It is a basic formula that functions with all specializations of rogue -

an enemy, attack another, followup the Sap with

, and blow cooldowns like mad to ensure you stay on your target. Secure the first kill quickly, then either double team the remaining player or try to reset and heal if need be.
With such a short kill window, Assassination's

is quite valuable in this team composition.

The Discipline Priest combination is a very strong 2v2 team that is recommended for beginners to arena. The rogue offers reliable damage, crowd control, and interrupts while the priest offers good defensive cooldowns like

that is both offensive and defensive, reliable healing, and some offensive tools like
法力燃烧
. This is a good combination of important PvP abilities from both classes that makes this a great pair. The defensive abilities from each class make this composition good for beginners since it is slightly more forgiving than double damage dealer teams if you make an execution mistake.
Shadow Priest + Rogue is another strong team composition, trading some of the defense and sustainability of the Discipline Priest for more offensive power and the very powerful

from the Shadow tree. You don't lose all the utility from the priest though as a Shadow Priest still has access to things like

This is an excellent combination particularly for an Assassination rogue, as the priest offers great support with

to remove magic slows, roots, and a few other types of crowd control on the rogue as well as dispels on the enemy. The goal is to keep the Assassination rogue on target and eventually secure a kill with a little bit of

on the second enemy player.
3v3 Arena Teams for Assassination Rogue DPS in Wrath of the Lich King

This is a classic combination that has been good for a very long time. It combines the exceptional damage output and burst potential of the

with the defensive and utility tools of the Discipline

to make a very solid team. Both the

have strong defensive abilities to use if they are focused by the enemy. If the

is focused the

can easily use their plethora of crowd control abilities like

teammate - who isn't at all helpless on their own either with

and healing abilities. This team combines two of the best class combinations of 2v2 arena to make a 3v3 team, and it definitely works.
With the support of a Discipline Priest and added dynamics of a 3v3 team, the Assassination rogue is much more capable than they would be a in 2v2 Rogue/Mage setup.

This is the incorrect talent build and glyphs for muta...you never use ambush period as muta rogue, never ever..so the 2 points are wasted for improved ambush as well as serrated blades is a waste, muta never ever uses apr, and rupture is rarely used outside for some niche things as muta. Glyph of sprint is a must for muta, as you lack mobility, the 2nd glyph should be prep, mandatory for muta, and should be glyph of muta, glyph of prep (those 2 are required for this build to work in arena) and 3rd is either sprint or cos, sprint is highly recommended.
The Standard muta build used in competitive play by Reckful and woundman back in the day in 3.3.5 was 44/2/25 and there was a 3v3/5v5 Hungering cold build as well that was played competitively.

This build is all wrong man. Im sure some pros put together some crap that seems to work for them, but they are playing with top notch players and are top notch themselves so really any build will probably work.... that being said...
Your dps output relies heavily on envenom. Mutilate is garbage especially against high armored targets, but will still shred a clothie, its simply a combo point generator, so go ahead and remove dual wield specialization and go ahead and put those points into your poisons.
to the guy above me saying you never open with ambush, you are wrong. Against stun immune DKs, sometimes you have to, and definitely against ele shaman because when they are stunned, silenced or rooted, they take 30% less damage, so really you just want to use bush, mut, envenom, mut, mut, envenom and try to interrupt with just kick, while stuns should be used exclusively for defense or getting trinkets . 4 point envenoms are good as well, so ruthlessness really helps improve your dps output, and quick recovery is ESSENTIAL....
murder is ok but definitely not worth it over improved kidney shot... after they trinket the first kidney, which they almost always do, the second one should be timed with tricks of the trade on your dps partner, increasing their dps output by 24% for 6 seconds! its incredibly strong, especially with a lock or mage...
fleet footed is a great talent, and i would love to have it, but it is not as important as the other talents you give up. rogues already have many ways to break movement impairing effects (double vanish, trinket, cloak) on top of which we get double sprint... again fleet footed is kind of overkill so my advice is to put those talents elsewhere, like focused attacks because mut rogues struggle with energy regen because mutilate cost is so high. Which leads me to my next point....
why the hell wouldnt you get relentless strikes? that right there is a major red flag to whoever wrote this guide... 25 more energy after an envenom is HUGE, why throw it away? makes 0 sense as the whole point of going assass in pvp is to increase your dps output and not having either focused attacks or relentless trikes puts a major hurt on your energy regen and thus your dps. not a good look here.
as far as glyphs go, glyph of vigor is useless because u get it from rogue 4 piece, and glyph of sprint is ok, but kinda not good. Glyph of cloak of shadows is a must, i dont care who u are or what u say as rogues biggest problem in arena is survivability and it stacks with pain supress and it just freaking amazing... glyph of prep is essential and then obviously glyph of mutilate to help with energy...
with this build i easily compete with dks, shaman, warlocks, and warriors in arenas in terms of dps.
