Best in Slot Gear for Frost Death Knight DPS in Pre-PatchStats

Hit - With our talent 坚若精钢, we only require 5% to achieve the 'soft' Special Attack hit cap, anything past this has diminished gains and should fall below other stats like Critical Strike, Armor Penetration, and Haste, but is still more valuable than raw Attack Power or Agility, up to the hard cap of 27% for auto attacks.

Expertise - Expertise caps at 26, or a rating of 214 - through the talent 苔原猎手 giving us a free 5 expertise, our effective cap becomes 173. Further, your racial choice will determine your cap for expertise as well, as Humans gain 3 expertise with swords and maces, while orcs gain 5 with axes, and dwarves 5 with maces.

Strength - Strength - Your single best stat after hitting hit/expertise caps. Through multiplicative talents like 无尽寒冬, 贪婪亡者 and 铜墙铁壁, the value of strength is increased past the typical ratio of 1 Strength = 2 Attack Power, to the point where 1 Strength = 2.7 Attack Power.

Critical Strike Rating - Crit is another stat that sees significant modifiers from our talents, 血魔的狡诈 makes Crit incredibly valuable. In Wrath of the Lich King, Crit rating converts to both physical Crit and spell Crit, increasing our AOE damage through 凛风冲击, as well as single target, pushing this stat to the forefront above most other choices.

Armor Penetration - ARP for short, this stat changes from the flat reduction of TBC, to a rating based conversion like other secondary stats. This vastly reduces the value of ARP on level 70 gear, but it's still a very strong stat for Frost. Some of our damage like diseases and howling blast are pure magical damage, and not affected by armor, keeping ARP from being our best all around secondary.

Haste - Frost benefits greatly from haste as a dual wielding spec, even more so because of Killing Machine and our proc-based weapon enchants, but not enough to push it past Crit or ARP.

Agility/Attack Power - Attack Power, often shortened to simply AP, is the bread and butter of physical DPS classes. Unfortunately it's just not as great as secondary stats in most situations, and is even worse than Strength as 死亡骑士s don't have any talents that multiply our attack power, only our Strength. Before modification from talents, 1 Strength = 2 AP, after talents and buffs the rate is generally considered 1 Strength = 2.7 AP. Carefully consider any upgrades when looking at AP versus Strength, and try to keep that formula in mind. As for Agility, unlike the actual stat Critical Strike Rating, Agility does not convert to spell Crit, only physical Crit, and does such at a slower rate. Even with this caveat, Agility is still a DPS increase for Frost should you have no other options.

Is there any plan to add a Frost Tank guide? Blood's not the only tanking spec (technically, I know it does have some of the best talents) in Wrath.

While power players get great use from BIS pages like this, has anyone ever considered doing a page where you look for the best transferable / purchasable BIS items by class? I think it would be a more useful tool for those who do not have the time, means, or guild to do the high level dungeons where the BIS bind on pick up stuff generally comes from. It would also help power players decide what to buy / equip in preparation for going after the BIS items as well.
