Well, after searching through the beta's "companions" list, I've found quite a few pets that don't match up with the current available pets. Could these be the new pets in WotLK?

The following list links to the models, if possible. If there is no model in the database I've linked to the spell name.

Scourge Haunt
Pet Fish Apparently it's been around since the original beta. Probably not coming with WotLK.
Albino Snake
Albino Snapjaw
Baby Shark Confirmed as a WotLK pet.
Blue Racer
Bronze Whelpling
Corrupted Kitten
Elven Wisp
Essence of Competition Confirmed as the Olympics event pet
Frosty Confirmed as the Collector's Edition pet.
Ghostly Skull Confirmed as a WotLK pet.
Green Water Snake
Hawksbill Snapjaw
Island Frog
Leatherback Snapjaw
Loggerhead Snapjaw
Olive Snapjaw
Ribbon Snake
Stinker Confirmed as an achievement reward for collecting 50 pets.
Vampiric Batling

Additionally, I found two more interesting entries:

Pet Stone: Is the Pet Rock getting a model?
Faeling: Separate from the Sprite Darter Hatchling entry. Could this be the cross-faction version that the Horde have been waiting for?

Not considered "companions" in the same way that the Rickety Magic Broom is not considered a mount because they are temporary:

Corrupted Kitten (horde quest line)
Pet Stone

Vampiric Battling is obtained via the new boss in Karazhan during the Scourge Invasion world event. It drops off Tenris Mirkblood for each person in the raid.

The pets Lil' Smoky and Pet Bombling can now be obtained from the schematic dropped by Mekgineer Thermaplugg, the final boss in Gnomeregan, and Arcane Nullifier X-21 in the corridor outside. Unfortunately the actual pets are BoP so yet another way of engineers making money down the drain!

I'd like someone to make a Pet Selector addon (Titan Panel preffered). This would free up an Action slot or 2 and would be easier to use than Blizz menus.
It would be nice if it could randomly select a pet from All, or Selected (checked).

I managed to write a guide list of all the companions you can still get, as well as a check off list that my friend wrote which is pretty handy.
