I bet you that this is just another one of these ach blizz creates to trick data miners, just like the old version of I've had worse:

Defeast the Black Knight in 10 minutes while wearing all blue items, before 3 Volcanos erupt, while everyone in the group has at least 1 stack of Spurting Blood and there are no shamans or paladins in the party but before you spend at least 1000 gold in repairs wiping to the Black Knight.

While it's probably a placeholder text, this could be refering to Cataclysm. Some people may say it is a hint that cataclysm is going to be released very soon after 3.3. This could hold some truth as blizzard said that aside from a few possible hotfix patches 3.3 is going to be the final major patch for WotLK. Cant hold players on Icecrown Citadel for about a year, so cataclysm may come sooner then we think.

well, this may be old news but what the heck, I'll just put it here anyways.

there is a mild spoiler alert here.

the 5man fight against the lich king, isn't a fight per se, it's more of an event a la Tribunal of Ages in HoS.

when you reach the lich king, he's fighting your faction guide (jaina for alliance, sylvannas for the horde) and OMG they actually manage to solo 7kk of his health o_O girl power!.

anyhow, when you reach them, your guide decides the lich king is too strong, then she freezes him with a spell that will lock him in place for about 20 secs, and then the encounter starts.

during the entire encounter you are running away from the lich king, he has a passive aura arround him, it reduces his movement speed by 75% but it will deal about 8k damage per second to anyone standing within 10 yards or closer to the lich king (AKA instant death)

the whole event takes place in a long straight narrow corridor, at specific points the lich king will summon a massive ice wall, and then summon adds, the adds consist of non-elite ghouls, elite vargul spellcasters, and elite abominations.

the idea of the encounter is to protect your guide (jaina or sylvanas) while she breaks the barrier, you must kill the adds FAST because you have limited time before the lich king reaches you, once all adds are dead the barrier breaks, you run some more and the whole process is repeated.

the lich king summons a grand total of 4 barriers, each harder than the previous one, with increasing numbers of adds to deal with.

do note that it's crucial to protect your guide (jaina or sylvannas) because if she dies, then the lich king will execute his skill "fury of the frostmourne" dealing 1.000.000 non-resistable shadow damage to the whole group, efectively WFTPWN1-shoting the whole party.

SPOILER ALERT

after the last barrier is down, you reach a cliff, and there are no more places to run or hide, the lich king keeps aproaching you, and just when you think is all over, KAPUT, your faction's gunship (skybreaker for alliance, ogrim's hammer for horde) shows up, and opens fire on the tunnel, collapsing it, and blocking the lich king from reaching you.

on board of the ship is a chest with the loot, and a portal to dalaran.

this achievement is obtained by completing the whole event in less than 6 min, wich of course will need some MASSIVE AOE tank and DPS to burn the adds as fast as posible (a hunter with their aspect of the pack could also help, as long as they are carefull enough to deactivate it before the adds hit your group)

overall, this is one exelent fight, made even more cool by the epic music that comes with it.

this fight represents the Pinnacle of 5man content on the entire expantion, and the loot of this fight, it's the best loot avaliable in 5man dungeons both regular and heroic on the entire game, till the arrival of cataclysm of course.

you just can't get anything better than this on a 5man (save for emblem farming but that's another story)

As you run from the Lich King, there are 4 walls blocking the path that Sylvannas needs to destroy.

These walls will be destroyed once you have killed all the mobs spawned by the Lich King during each phase.

Thus, when you see the Lich King start to summon mobs, turn around, and AoE them down hard. The faster you kill the mobs, the faster you will go through the tunnel, running fast has nothing to do with getting this achievement.

Do note the event is not over once you kill the last few mobs. It isn't until after the gunship shows up that the event ends, and you get the acheivement. I imagine you want to be killing the last mob at around the 5 minute mark.

Just obtained it today, and I think it can be achieved if your tank knows where and when to stop, and a good amount of DPS helps as well.

Here's a list of the team I was in :

Tank Blood DK
Healer Druid
Elemental Shaman (that's me)
Destruction Warlock
Retri Paladin

The initial encounter of this dungeon begins with the VIP of your faction (Lady Jaina Proudmoore for Alliance, Sylvannas Windrunner for Horde) fighting solo against the Lich King. (OMG, talk about girl power! *squeaks*) They decided that he is way too strong and suggest an escape, trapping the Lich King in ice.

At this point, you still have some time to rest, and maybe explain what is going to happen next. Once your party is ready, talk to your leader and start moving down the path ASAP. It is important that you should be walking together an start running from him. There are 4 blocks that consists of non-elite ghouls, elite vargul shadowcasters and elite abominations. Each block is harder than the last, with the 4th block having 2 waves instead of one.

Just run all the way to the end of the roadblock then turn around and protect your leader. NEVER, EVER charge at the mobs, wait until they come to the tank! Just make sure the tank picks up ALL the mobs before they can slaughter any other party members. Shadowcasters must be brought down first, they have Shadow Bolt Volley and that is never nice. Tanks should face the Abominations AWAY from the party to avoid unnecessary damage. You must nuke them pretty fast before the Lich King arrives (He moves slowly but his aura will deal 8k per second to anyone within 10 yards, pretty much an instant death). Once all mobs are defeated, keep moving.

Tren was wrong about the Aspect of the Pack. Even if you outrun your leader, the Lich King WILL reconstruct a wall everytime you break down the ice wall, so don't worry about overrunning. Tried and tested while grouping with a Survival Hunter. (Thanks Karashk for the error.)

Save all your CDs (Heroism, Arcane Power, Mirror Image, Rapid Shot) for the final block, cause the mobs will just keep on coming. Survive the last one and head all the way to the end of the line. (For this case, I save Heroism and Elemental Mastery for last, and pop out a Fire Elemental to deal with incoming mobs.)

Very nice loots even in Normal mode. Too bad Elemental Shamans don't benefit a lot from the new loots in the new dungeons.

To get the achievement, your group must have a good amount of DPS to take down the mobs as fast as possible. Bringing a Hunter and activate Aspect of the Pack whenever you are running is not necessary, but it is an extra help. (Just make sure he knows when to deactivate it.)

EDIT : This is what I find out about the waves.

1st block : 1 wave of non-elite ghouls and 1 Shadowcaster. Easy to beat.

2nd block : 1 wave of ghouls, 2 Shadowcasters and 1 Abomination. Easy to beat if your tank face the abomination away from the party.

3rd block : 1 wave of ghouls, 2 Shadowcasters and 2 Abomination. Harder than the 2nd block, and yes it is getting harder the further you go.

Final block : 2 wave of ghouls separated, 4 Shadowcasters, 4 Abominations. Make sure to nuke down Part 1 of the wave before Part 2 arrives, otherwise your tank will be overwhelmed.

why would u *!°#ing write 6min if u have to do it in 5:30min..
i always finish this with 20-27 seconds left on timer.. but then b#tc# sylvanas talks for 30 seconds and spoils the achievement..
that's just plain stupid.. so u either fix it or fix it

Cleared it with "1" second left on the timer today. We had about 43 seconds left on the timer when the last barrier went down.

Yesterday we did this achievement.
I'm not sure is that a bug or the second story line of the dungeon passing, but we went behind the Arthas, not in front of him. Arthas summoned mobs and they jumped from Lick King back to us and were easy tanked by me and killed by our damagers. Arthas was unable to kill us, because he was moving forward and we pass the dungeon from first try by this method and get achievement "We're Advancing in a Different Direction".
When we passed the dungeon I had feeling that I'm cheater :) I guess that this is a bug. I don't thing that this behavior is idea of Blizzard gudgeon designers. It doesn't look plausible, because Arthas' speech is the same as in "normal" mode. He didn't say something like "where are you heroes? Nobody can hide from Lich Ling" etc. :)

Achievement can be gathered in "normal" mode too, today my friend was in random party and they got achievement while running away from Arthas, not following him.

Anyway if this is a bug than it will be fixed soon, but I have got achievement pursuing Arthas :)

Can anyone else confirm that the trigger to start the next wave is to physically reach the next barrier wall with your toon? So by getting to the barrier wall faster, you can start burning the next wave faster. On my druid I was shifting to catform and sprinting, or having a mage blink, or a hunter Aspect for greater run speed to try and touch the wall as soon as possible.

So, I'm trying to do a simple number crunch on something but I'm missing an important variable. Assuming Sylvanas is killed by the lich king on the very last wall, how long does it take? Like from the start of the event to her death on the last wall, how long is that?

I got this achievement the other day, I didn't even know it existed until it popped up at the end. Even funnier it was in a random PUG, which took a bit to get going because a lot of players when they see its HoR immediately head for the green eye. I was healing it as my Holy Paladin.
