Pyromancer Loregrain is not a rare spawn anymore. this was fixed in a patch.

This guy is no longer a "rare spawn." He'll always be there.

For those that just want to farm him for your 40-49 character, you can skip everything but the two groups near his spawn location, then kill his adds and kite him all the way to the beginning of the instance without aggroing any mobs. He is the type that loses aggro once you run too far, so cast a spell or hit him every once in a while.

If you're just looking for the enchantment to drop, this is simple enough with any level 70 character, whether your own or a friends.. whatever. You don't technically need to get in any fight.. I went about 14 times (bad drop luck I'm afraid) and the only things I needed to kill were his two adds, and him himself. Easy way to make money as an enchanter, or just someone who wants to sell the plans. On Ysera, they sell for about 80 gold.. and for a 14% or so drop with a fair amount of ease, it's not so bad.

Like most, I did this instance many times around level 50-60, but I don't remember instances very well and had a hard time finding this guy when I was solo grinding for the fiery enchant at 70. Hopefully this'll help others:

Enter the instance.
Go through the gate on the left, then through the next gate on the right.
Open the door on your left.
Go up the ramp, and then straight up the next ramp to where all the arena spectators are.
Go around to the other side of the ring and take that exit.
Turn right and this guy is at the end.

Very easy to solo farm as a 70 mage. Stick to the walls and you can avoid every mob around then run out. I got 3 Fiery enchant formulas and sold 2 of them.

Did the ring of law event to open the other door
went up stairs, then turning slightly right, up stairs again.
this is the gallery with the sitting mobs looking down at the ring of law.
turn right as you enter this room and take your next right out
down a small set of steps
to your right is a dead end with the pyromancer at the end.

This was my first attempt and he dropped a pattern and a blue fire wand.

Took about ten minutes. Will certainly be going back to get more patterns for the AH, i hope i am just as lucky next time as it sells for arouns 110G on my server.

Totally soloable as feral drood. Did him and his crew @59 with crappy gear. Had three outland greens and the rest was blues below lvl50 and three of them was even below lvl40!

Started off with a ravage and shred while he kneeled infront of the statue, shifted to bear and went on from there. Had to use all my CD's (innervate, frenzied regen...) and a Super Healing Potion. Popped a Magic Resistance Potion (+50 resist all) since there aren't any achemists that brew Greater Fire Protection Potion on my server :(, but it wasn't a bad choice since the escorts will blast you with Arcane Explosions. See to it that the CD on pots is down to at least 30 secs before you start the fight. To be on the safe side :)
Kept Demoralizing Roar and Faerie Fire up throughout the whole fight. First heal was a regular barkskin/healing touch, second was enrage/frenzied regen. See to it that you keep your bash/feral charge up for the adds to stop them from running!

First attempt was spent on learning the way of the fight. Second attempt I got them all but I was unfortunate enough to pull the group infront of them with my last moonfire (on a running add).
Third attempt was flawless! XP Got them all without pulling adds and ended up with all cd's blown, one less Super Healing Potion (out of magic resist pot's)

Too bad, the formula (which I'm here for) hasn't dropped yet so more fun for me! :)

Any rogue considering soloing at high level (I'm 65): Do not be discouraged by the adds. This is EASY as hell. Didn't need any CDs. All your CCs work on Loregrain. I sapped him, killed the adds, killed him, no problem.

one thing to keep in mind is that the adds do run at low health and trigger other mobs, so if youre a rogue doing stealth runs be sure to use your crippling poison and lay off the blade flurry. when i ran this at 64, 2 or 3 elites wasnt bad, but 7 was kinda painful.

I've gotta ask, did they change the drop rate for the Enchant Weapon - Fiery recipe? I know it comes down to luck but I've killed him 35 times in the last 2 days and I still haven't gotten it. Bah.

solod this on my lvl 64 ret b elf paly, was kind of hard cause i had 2 get the key first. Just ran past most mobs, and Pyromancer Loregrain died easily.

Definitely not a rare any longer. He's still got the silver dragon...but my shaman practically lived in BRD between the levels of 50 and 57-or-thereabouts. Loregrain was there every time.

sigh. wanted the fiery enchant, killed this guy like 55 ish times and finally i see an enchant scroll drop, though it was enchant boots - spirit ._. it's like 0.01% chance to drop. n_n time to continue farming.

Everything above is true he is no longer a rare spawn but he still has the silver dragon on his name, if ur a 70 who just got enchanting and want feiry this is the only way to get it or otherwise buy it from som1 but the drop will drop on about the 3-4th try but if it doesnt (this i recently found out) there is a limit to how many times u are able to enter BRD so than u have to wait 5 hours before uca n start again. (if ur 70 than the guys in the hall way leading up to him can be easily passed)

just a random thing i found out...if your like me and never ran this instance or got the key, and dont feel like fighting anything, you can skip the ring of law event. I ran in to activate it, and ran back out, and the gate shut me outside. when the first set of mobs spawned, i left the instance and came back, and the gate i needed was open! hope that helps somebody

--Edit here: i also found i can sit outside the gates, which re-opened in about 5-10 minutes (wasn't really counting), though it may be just as quick to kill them anyway <_<

Easy as hell to do this as a Rogue just stealth past a few mobs and then kick his ass hehe

To bad blizz implemented the Instance cap though since it takes me like 5 minutes each run to do it i get locked out after 5 runs and have to wait.

Here is a recommendation I know it may sounds stupid, but if it just may be the case.

For the past few days I have been killing this guy. Every time I do he doesn't drop the Formula for Fiery Weapon. I would walk the short way through the instance, since I'm an 80 Warrior, but I would kill him first and then his companions.

The last time around I decided to kill the companions first and then him. That's when it dropped. Food for thought or maybe BS. Who knows. Good luck.

EDIT: Since The Shadowforge Key has been removed from the game, it is even easier to get to him

Go into BRD, on your left you see a gate with a door "Shadowforge Gate". Go through this first one. Then, on your right you will see another door in a gate, go through this second one as well. On your left up a slope you will see a friendly NPC called "Razal'blade" standing to the side of a door into the wall called: "East Garrison Door".

Go through into the hall called "East Garrison". Go up the slope, veering right. You might have to kill a fire elemental on the way. At the top of the slope, go straight ahead, up another small slop into "The Ring of Law". In this case, as you have not completed the Ring of Law challenge, the spectators can aggro, so keep to the inner part of the ring to avoid this. Go across the hall, in a semi-circle. ... and the rest is the same. :)

You can still do this, WITHOUT THE SHADOWFORGE KEY. It's really not that hard if you have a buddy taking you along, or you are a high enough level.
You will need to clear a few extra mobs on the way, but not that many.

~~Enter the instance.~~
~~Go straight up the ramp.~~
~~Cross the middle of the main room, heading straight on.~~
~~That entrance will lead you to the Ring of Law (or Arena as commonly described). This is on the left.~~
]Clear the Mobs that come, and the Mini Boss. (Altenatively go the the centre until you see the arena master appear, then run back out of the arena. Eventually, the gates will re-open after some time and you'll be able to walk through. This means however that the arena spectators in the upper circle will be aggresive so be especially careful.)
~~Go up the ramp, and take a direct right turn and up the ramp again. Stay CLOSE to the wall. Watch out for the mobs in the middle part between the two ramps, especially for the Fire Elementals.~~
~~Go straight past the spectator area to the exit on the opposite side. Since you have done the Ring of Law, the mobs will be neutral.~~
Go down the ramp and turn to the right. There are two sets of mobs on the way, before you get to him.

- You will find him at the end of the corridor. :)

I'm a very visual person, so I love the "we're walking, we're walking" video tours you often find on YouTube.
For Loregaine, I found a video on YouTube that is pretty darned useful, once you get to the BRD instance entrance. The music is a little too frantic, but it clearly shows how to get in, get to the pyro & light him up, along with the 2 cronies with him. (As long as you know how to get to the meeting stone and then to the instance entrance.
As a side note, I initially used my Direbrew Remote to get to the bar. It got me no where but confused and frustrated, so I popped out then went back in through the main entrance on the Searing Gorge side of the mountain; followed the chain path to the brick walkway; to the little crypt room, and past the blood elf that takes you to the core and on down to the meeting stone.
I hope this helps out a few people, like it did me.
Oh, and the fiery weapon enchantment dropped first time - as that was my goal, for my alt leveling enchanting, I then hearthed out, happy for my little enchanting warlock. LOL Definitely worth the trip as the enchantment recipe is selling for about 200g a shot on the Norgannon AH right now. May have to go back and do this again, just to turn a little profit. LOL

I've heard this guy is a rare spawn in BRD, but where exactly? I've heard that he appears in place of the patrol after Naga Ambassador, and upstairs after arena spectators (near Ironfel Statue). Can anyone confirm either of these two locations?

i see him about every 1/5 runs, he spawns on the path to the right, after the second level of the arena area, there is one group in the way then him with 2 other mobs

Has anyone had any luck using the warlock's eye, stealth, track humaniod, or any other method of quickly finding out of this guy has spawned? I would very much like to get the fiery weapon formula without feeling like I just visited a proctologist.

I have the shadowforge key, but am having a hard time remembering if any other doors need to be open to get to where he spawns. Do you have to clear the room where you fight a couple waves of spawns first?

Any help is much appreciated.

sap one of his two guards, cheap shot the dude, evasion, adrenaline rush, and lay into him with a flurry of sinister strikes and eviserates, loot, then vanish. 2 for 2 so far. still no fiery enchant, but the staff sells for over 4g

What you will need

as much +spell dmg gear as possible
"Fire Resist" gear helps with pyromancer
arcane/frost resist gear helps with guards
evocation, mana gem, cheap stat boosting food, major healing pot

bypass two locked doors with shadowforge key
evade or engage fire elemental patrols
hug the inner wall over the ring of law to avoid spectator aggro, to the top of the stairs
check for rare spawn "/target pyromancer" - instance reset if not present
drink pot of invisiblity
sneak past mobs at the bottom of the stairs, turn right and sneak past second mob group. Situate against a wall between the second mob group and pyromancer with his two elite caster mobs
activate ice barrier and fire shield
activate cold snap immediately
drink and wait until fire shield at 15 secs
sheep highest level caster mob. Silence second caster mob
unload DPS on pyromancer as fast and furious as possible avoiding AoE spells that might break sheep. Do not kite, these are all caster mobs
use fire shield and ice barrier again where needed. Use mana gem and evocation where needed. Use major heal pot where needed
loot pyromancer corpse, quickly accept BoP prompt then die. Your not leaving alive

A few notes. You silence the second guard to encourage it to melee you as the arcane missiles the mob cast are painful. If you ice block the pyromancer will run into the mob group behind you, and you are fubar. Shift-Loot quickly once the pyromancer falls as you may die within seconds. If you do die it is possible to run back from Thorium Point in time to loot the corpse. (do not delay though)

The whole encounter may be easier if you use a fire protection pot but then it is hardly economical to kill this mob then.

Killed Pyro and his 2 elite buddies. Opened with a ravage and put a couple of points on then rip. Shift, warstomp+heal, bear and kill pyro. Then take down the two other elites, they dont do much damage. The two adds run at low hp, so make sure your bash is not cooling down or use feral charge if available. Pretty easy fight.

Hello all! So I am currently farming for the kindling stave, thought I'd let everyone know that you can solo him as a 60, non-epic, holy/disc priest in 1.10 without lesser invisibility pots.

All you need is the Shadowforge key (obvious), then take down the one elemental pat near the gate. You can get through the arena and two groups of elites right before him just by using mind soothe. Just mind soothe + tab through the first group (yes, all 5 of them), then stop against the wall across the hallway and do the same to the second group. That will bring you to Loregrain and his two adds. The mind soothing part is very easy, did it my first two tries without any aggro.

Then I just popped a shield, opened with holy fire, sw:p, mb, smite, etc etc. Now this will take most of your mana because you will need to repop shield and renew during the fight. I use Inner Focus and Desperate Prayer (dwarf) as well as a major mana pot. If you have a greater fire protection potion, this will be very valuable, but a good priest could try without. I did it using my pvp gear - 4100 hp and 5100 mp.

Just make sure to loot when he's dead (you can fear the mobs if they're bugging you). I don't think you can get out of here without dying, but you could try to MC one of the caster adds to take down the other. It's a stretch.

Before the Naxxramas patch the fiery weap enchant dropped like mad for me and this boss was literally my cash cow. Now I've solo'd him 9 times and it hasnt dropped once!

i like to buy invisibilty potions and run all the way to this guy. Then i get pumped up and i charge him(i'm a warrior) he goes down fairly quick and i loot him and i try to kill the other 2 with him. it the 12 times i have done this, 5 times the enchant weapon fiery has dropped. i just health and try again. i made quite a bundle doing just this. plus it's easy for me cause i have an alt that does alchemy and i get all my potions from him so it's not that hard to do. must be easy for those rogues that can just go in there sap and gogue kill one of his friends kill him and then kill the other one.

I did this twice last night for the first time. I was on my way to the bar so I looked and he was there both times. He didnt drop anything decent but I wanted to say its pretty easy to do this and survive. First of all, I'm 29/2/20 with only about 600 AP. I would sap one of the mobs, ambush him and then SS/evis him. I also got off one Cold Blood just to make sure. The second time I didnt use pots and he iced me so I died. I killed him but had to use my vanish to get out of the ice so I died after he was dead. I ran back and sapped one of the mobs, blinded the other, looted him and vanished. Very fun! I counted and have 7 green armor items. Pretty lame stuff. I do have Alcor's and Shadowblade so decent daggers. Very fun!

so after Patch 2.0.3 (01/09/2007)came out, i jump on my money maker toon to farm out a few fiery formula's and when i get to pyromancer loregrain, he shows up as a silver elite (whereas his guards are regular elites). Anyone else notice this? Does this mean that Loregrain is now 'technically' a rare spawn again? or just a fine way to identify how much of a cripple he really is? I'm on run 2 of 5 and he's shown up both times so far, wondering if he'll still be there or not come the 4th or 5th reset :\

As a well equipped level 60 feral druid ive been able to kill him and his adds very easily for a long time. However since the 2.03 patch i am just barely able to down him before i die, and then i have to go back kill the adds and loot. I don't know if it is druid changes or changes with him but he seems alot tougher now.

Once you enter the Instance, go to your left and open the Shadowforge Gate. Once in, you'll see another shadowforge gate to your right, open that one as well. Once you're in, again, you'll see 'East Garrison Door' which is your left right when you go through the second Shadowforge Gate, open it. Once you go in the door, you'll see stairs/ramp right infront of you (right), Go up, follow it up. Once up, you'll see another flight of stairs directly infront of you, go up. This will take you to the top part of "Ring of Law". Go right, and follow it til you see a doorway to your right. Once you find it, go in once again. (NOTE: There's only two doorways on the top in Ring of Law, the one you just entered, and one directly across) Once you find that door way to your right, it'll take you down a flight of stairs, once you're down the stairs go right once again, follow, and go right again. (NOTE: When you get down the stairwell and make the right, you can only go right again) And there he is all the way in the back. The tauren!

=P really can't get lost with those directions.
I'm a level 70 Subt specced Rogue, I solo him very easily. Take him out first, then the guards. If you're 70, you'll only lose about half health or less. Simple :)

I was in BRD 15 times yesterday just to farm the fiery enchant. Pyromancer Loregrain was up everytime (takes 5 mins to kill him and reset the instance). I don't think he is rare anymore.

ran it twice, first time got the fiery enchant and some staff that added some fire dmg

then ran it again for kicks and got ANOTHER fiery enchant formula and some exceptional blue leggings.

DEd the blues for 2 small brilliants and learned one fiery and sold the other for 25g

took me about 19 minutes :).

Ok, so a bit of an update.

I'm a level 70 enhancement shaman, decent gear (kara).

He spawns every time. Its possible, with the shadowforge key (easy to get @ 70), to farm this guy without killing a single mob. I did it 9 times, takes about 8 minutes a run. then you get locked out for an hour :(

Here's how to do it without the key.

I'm a 61 rogue and I just went to the Ring of the Law. When the guy comes out and sentences you to death or whatever and the beetles come out, I just stealthed and waited. The gate that is on your left when you enter the ring will eventually open and the beetles will despawn. Go into that gate and you will be in a hallway. At the end, turn right and you will see another slope upwards, going to the 2nd floor of the Ring of the Law.

Go through the door at the opposite end from where you entered. Turn right and follow the hall until you see Pyromancer Loregrain. Like everyone else has said, if you're a rogue, sap one of his pals and the fight is yours. Got Fiery Enchant on my 2nd go. =)

incase anyones confused about getting to this guy WITHOUT the shadowforge key this is how you do it..
enter the instance and clear the large room with the 3-dog patrols and dwarves & make your way straight across the room.
Make your first left in the next hallway to enter the arena.
Do the arena as usual, kill the groups and the boss that comes, Once this is complete.
Go through the west tunnel (the only way you can leave the arena apart from the way you came) and up the stairs.
At the top, turn to your right and you'll see another flight of stairs to you right.
Go up those stairs and you'll enter the spectator area of the arena.
Go around the arena and exit the other side.
Kill the 5-6 mobs at the entrance & the fire pat, turn right and hes at the end of the corridor,

Soloable as a 57 disc/holy priest. This guide assumes you have the shadowforge key, a lesser invis pot, and above average knowledge of your priest.

Enter BRD, head through locked door on your left. Dodge the fire pat - don't be afraid to fight him if you aggro. Head through locked door on your right, then the one up the small hill on your left. Another fire pat guards this ramp, but you should be fine if you're mindful of his position. Go up the ramp, then straight up the stairs - yet another fire pat is in this room. Enter the ring of law and continue straight forward until you're touching the barricade. Using mind soothe for mobs sitting in the first row, make your way around the Ring of Law to the other exit, where the stairs are. Pop the invis pot, then go down these stairs and to the right. Stop when you are halfway between Loregrain and the preceding group (so that you don't aggro either one!)

This strategy works only for a priest (or, maybe, someone with gnomish mind control cap.) MC one of the Emissaries. If you're lucky, it will be equipped with the Arcane Missile spell. If it is, use it to burn down the other Emissary as fast as possible. If not, do what you can to harm the other Emissary. DO NOT USE THE FIRST MIND CONTROL TO ATTACK LOREGRAIN. The reason is after the first minion has died, you want to Mind Control the other emissary and use it to attack Loregrain directly. This will direct Loregrain's aggro to the other Emissary, instead of your priest. Allow Loregrain to kill the Emissary while again causing as much damage as possible. At this point, Pyromancer Loregrain will have approximately 60% health if you've done it right so far. As soon as MC breaks, shield and dot, Power Infusion + Inner Focus + Blessed Prayer Beads if you've got them, and burn him down.

Cost: 20s for the invis pot
Gain: 1g if vendoring. 8g if disenchanting. Bragging rights.

Chance: Kindling Stave, Fiery Enchant recipe

You get to him by opening the first door using the shadowforge key. Go to the next one and open it, then the other door. Go up the stairs to the top part of the ring. Go around the ring avoiding the mobs. Then make a right and hes right there

Got a nice haul.Ran my friend through BRD and and killed this guy didnt drop the Formula.Then after she got what we killed the emporer I reset and came back in.Got my Chant.decided to test my luck and reset till i wasnt alowwed in again.Got three Formulas in total.Very happy.

I've been repeatedly going after him over the past few days. He spawns about 1 in 5 attempts (I've seen him 4 times in 19 visits). He's soloable as a 60 rogue, but his two spellcasting bodyguards will probably kill you with frost and shadow damage before you can get away. I try to vanish each time, but they appear to see through it because they both still cast a spell and hit me each time.

I'm able to buy myself enough time to do a quick loot by summoning a battle chicken or mechanical dragonling. It also helps to down a fire protection potion at least two minutes beforehand (so your 2m timer on the major healing potion you'll need will have run down).

2-manned him a few times. Balance druid tanking and a resto druid healing, both 60. The guy drops pretty fast. Get him first and loot. Then blast his two buddies, one at a time, making sure they don't run and get adds.

He spawns near the statue you turn in the BRD key quest to. Go through the BRD arena stands and turn right.

My first time going through BRD (lvl 53 priest) and he dropped the fiery recipe and the blue wand!

With Key:
-Upon entering the instance, look to your left and you should see a gate, open it.
-Now through, there should be a patrolling fire elemental in front of you and to the right another gate, open it.
-You'll now be in a passage along the outter edge of the first room and on your left should be a metal door set into the wall, open it.
-You should now be in a room in which there is a stiarcase in front of you and to the right, and the door mechanism further in front and to the left.
-Go up the stairs (there is a fire elemental that patrols the stairway)
-Run up the ramp that leads to the balcony above the Arena.
-Run along the inner edge of the balcony and go through the passage at the other side of the room.
-Go down the ramp and either:
1) kill the mobs that are at the bottom of the ramp, and then take the right path
or
2) if you are a 70 or a high level stealther, jump onto the right stone "handrail" of the ramp and jump over top of the brazier, skipping the mobs.
-Now in front of you you should see another group of mobs, either:
1) kill them
2) if high level, jump ontop of the brazier that is to the right of the group, and walk along the edge past them

You are now at the Pyromancer, and his classification as being a rare mob has been changed to a boss, so he should always be there. (even though he currently still has the silver dragon around his portrait)

Without Key:
-Upon entering the instance you should see a ramp directly in front of you, go up it and kill the mobs that are on it
-You should now see a large open room filled with mobs and several passages branching off of the main room
-Directly in front of you on the far side of the room is the passage you want, either:
1) kill your way to it
or
2)if you are a high level, run past the mobs to it
-Run up the ramp and you should see a mob directly in front of you and a doorway to your left, go through the doorway
-You should now be inside an arena, stepping into the center circle will trigger the event, step into it
-A dwarf will appear and open the first gate where 2 waves of mobs pour out, kill them
-The dwarf then opens another gate and the boss will come out, kill it
-One gate counterclockwise from the one that the boss came out of should have a ramp in it going up, go up it.
-You should now be in a room in which a stairway going down is directly in front of you, turn right and make another hard right and go up the ramp
-Run around the balcony and go through the passage at the other side of the room.
-Go down the ramp and either:
1) kill the mobs that are at the bottom of the ramp, and then take the right path
or
2) if you are a 70 or a high level stealther, jump onto the right stone "handrail" of the ramp and jump over top of the brazier, skipping the mobs.
-Now in front of you you should see another group of mobs, either:
1) kill them
2) if high level, jump ontop of the brazier that is to the right of the group, and walk along the edge past them

You are now at the Pyromancer.

Does it only drop if you're an enchanter? I've done about 10 runs on my rogue no luck, don't want to fork over 100g on the AH. Rogue is not an enchanter though, it's for my warlock who is enchanting.
