Bit of fun lore: Ever wonder where they come from?
These are created by Callista Swiftglaive and then apparently dropped all over the forest in her many errands to gather stones for crafting materials and to make trips to the temple to pray to the Goddess Elune.
If you travel to her home in Lorlathil Coordinates 54:72 you fill find her home full of the various stones (inactive) and stone carving tools.
I believe she was also in a previous warcraft game and gave you a buff while telling you to

"Here, take this druid stone. It will aid you."

I can not remember which game or stage but I do remember thinking it was odd that she was a named character that we never saw again.
