(This post is in reference to how he was tamed during the first week of WoD. Hotfixes have changed some things, see replies below.)

I went on a hunter to tame one of these today and it's currently a bit buggy but doable. I didn't need to be on any quest to get this to work.

First off, you'll want to locate this guy. He's standing in front of a giant electrified holding pen, to the west there's a big rounded rock ledge. Rexxar will appear to help in whatever even this NPC in involved in so you can tap him and let Rexxar do the rest while you head over to the big rock ledge and look for one of these rylaks in the air just over the edge.

When you see this rylak there may or may not be more than one of it, probably attacking the non-armored local rylaks. It's being used as a mount for the orc NPC on the ledge just below you somehow but it can still be tamed. The real challenge is in taming your armored rylak before the orc NPC can interrupt you with her spear attack, you might need to kill her (and there might be multiple copies of her) before you can turn your attention to taming the armored rylak without interruption.

I'll see if I can upload some screenshots, hope any of this helps other hunters.

I visited Darktide Roost near the start of WoD to tame this pet. I re-investigated today to check on the spawn points after hearing rumors of its removal, and I can confirm that as someone who triggered the event and saw the rylak when it was around, as of 11/19/2014 it is definitely not spawning where it used to, or at all.

It's now 6.1 and there is still no sighting of any replacement for this beast. This is quite frustrating, because myself and others really would like this color variation of the armored rylak.

Reply to this comment if and when you spot this in-game AND tameable, I'll also keep a look out and update this comment.

If you're coming here from Petopia, you're out of luck. They haven't updated their page for this mob, but it is definitely unobtainable.
