巴納比‧伏萊齊 is occasionally present at Halfhill. On days when he is he'll be standing facing a table between 蔣‧鐵爪 and 年‧鐵爪. Testing on various characters at various rep levels suggests that you will not be able to get the quest, nor buy the shards until you are Revered with the Tillers. (Much like Songbell seeds)

At revered or higher 商人青田 will give you the quest 寒酸的新面孔 asking you to speak with the visiting Mage.

Completing 一塊魔法飛行王國的...垃圾 with 巴納比‧伏萊齊 awards an 不穩定的傳送門裂片 which you can plant on your farm in Halfhill to produce the following...

You will, of course, only be able to grow portals for your own faction.

Every shard you plant will take the normal amount of time to grow, just like other seeds. Each one will need to be clicked on to stabilise it resulting in a 裂隙潛獵者 appearing, once defeated the shard will be able to grow.

•A mage who fell on hard times back in Dalaran has found a new home on Pandaria. 巴納比‧伏萊齊 will occasionally visit Halfhill Market to peddle a new type of seed – and take advantage of the Tillers’ hospitality.
•Portal Shards grow into consumable items which can be used to open a portal from Sunsong Ranch to a major faction city.

Note the occasionally. You'll want to stock up on 不穩定的傳送門裂片s when 巴納比‧伏萊齊 shows up to cover you for days when he doesn't, since 商人青田 doesn't sell this type of 'seed'.

Glad to see him finally out of that sewer and about.

Kind of makes me wonder how he got washed up anyways.

I decided to take him up on these shards and planted 8 of them, each one I had to fight a short battle after planting it, but we shall see how they turn out.

If you can't find him and you're wondering where he went, he randomly shows up on the farm. If he's not there now, he may show up tomorrow.

His name origins from the surnames of two fictional British detectives.

Tom Barnaby and Jessica Fletcher.

Both who are pretty old school and I must say I'm surprised to find references to them, especially in such games as World of Warcraft.

These shards are insta-mage. Buy as many as your bags will fit from this NPC. Planting them is annoying because they all attack. But, once you've done this, you can hearth your character in "Farmville" and then just portal to places you need to go. This is especially useful for the Thanksgiving event when you have to go from city to city.

I just wanted to comment that if, while doing Tiller dailies, you get his quest "A Shabby New Face", and he isn't in the market that day, try a realm hop in custom LFG. I just tried and he was there in the first group I picked.
