One of the best ways to counteract his Photosnythesis double healing during Sunlight: CHANGE THE WEATHER. I have my rare Scourage Whelping ready to use Call Darkness whenever he makes the weather sunny. Great tactic making it twice as easy to DPS him down

EDIT: I have narrowed it down after extensive tests with this boss that a (H/S) breed rare Mirror Strider with Water Jet:Healing Wave:Pump can easily 1 shot this entire tamer, making it able to powerlevel 2 pets at once

Use a Terrible Turnip(or a other pet with a backline damage spell and a team-heal like a Sea Pony) and a Electrified Razortooth (or a other pet with high damage versus elementals,) and a pet that needs xp.I myself use lvl 1 critters so they get level 10 instantly and because of the decreased damage of Sunlight to critters they are save to join even at such a low level.A critter can join with 120ish HP otherwise go for one with more then 165HP,in case of a mechanical pet 240 HP.

The Terrible Turnip has the following spells :
1.Tidal Wave(same for Sea Pony)
2.Inspiring Song(use Cleansing Rain for Sea Pony)
3. does not matter you do not need it.(you could use Pump for Sea Pony for the 10% bonus and can even use it as a nuke to kill Siren after rotating your pets when the backline is dead.

Open with Inspiring Song so you heal the damage to your backline instantly and you have room for one more Inspiring Song before your backline will take damage again.Building a small HP buffer(Non-elementals get a free bonus to their HP during Sunlight,lets fill it up :)
Use Tidal Wave untill your backline has taken damage again,then heal with Inspiring Song.

Do so untill are enemy backline pets are dead.Now wait for Sunlight and heal a last time using Inspiring Song.Then swap to your powerlevel pet,let him feel the joy of battle for a round and swap him for the Electrified Razortooth.

Kill the enemy using Rip then Blood in the Water then do Rip Again or Devour it does not really matter because we need to wait for the cooldown of Blood in the Water anyway.Use Blood in the Water again and the enemy pet is now totally dead.The backline was already dead so we are done and so is your powerleveling efford.

If you decide to use a Sea Pony you maybe could field not one but two powerlevelee's but in that case they will share the xp and get less then 10 levels(if using lvl 1 pets).I only used the Sea Pony once and i only killed Siren because of two Pump crits.It was a lvl 20 without a battlestone upgrade though.

Disclaimer in this tactic you have to be lucky with not getting crits to your backline powerlevel pet if you are using a level 1 pet.I am always lucky in this case myself,hope you are also :)

6.X edit : Doesn't seem to work anymore since the trainer now uses a nuke instead of passing a round.

However, I found that Terrible Turnip was only marginally useful, I tried counting and timing to miss his Solar Beam shots with Sons of the Root up, but his seemingly vulnerable 2-round Recovery period, where he can do NOTHING, was apparently nothing compared to the idiotic 8-round cooldown for Sons of Root.

And Electrified Razozback only hit Siren for about 700hp before all his (Razorhead's) were wasted and used up

What really saved me, and took Siren and his 2 pals out of the fight, was the Sea Pony, with Pump turned on for about 13 straight rounds.

It's really a shame that 5.4 "fixed" this to start using 太陽光束. It was nice to have one pet battle where you could kill the back rank before killing the front one. I really liked the old method you could employ in this fight.

Just 1 shot Siren with Eternal Strider and Pump. (1986 damage!) After many rounds of failure this was very satisfying.

This battle pet Siren has one undeniable feature, her big smile.

The best way to beat this pet is to use any frog that has 淨化之雨 and 青蛙之吻. Open with cleansing rain because she will cast 日光. *Note, if your pet is faster than her, you can always use a kiss, then cast cleansing rain. Your cleansing rain will override sunlight, so she will not heal too much or increase the other pet's health. After that, just kiss away. It doesn't matter if she gets turned into a frog and switches out to 斷齒菜頭妖 because he will take extra damage from your frog kisses as well. 9 out of 10 times, your frog will kill Siren and Toothbreaker, and still do some damage on 摩沙拉的幼蟲, which will allow you to easily level another lower level pet at some point in this battle. As a last resort if I have bad rng, I will always keep a mechanical pet as my third to take out Brood of Mothallus easily. Leave comments and let me know how this works out for you.

As far as I can tell, the only way to beat this fight is if you change the weather. If it's sunlight, the heals are still too strong for any strong aquatic attacks (except maybe Pump). Gotta' change the weather. Then, it's fairly easy to win with any number of strategies.

Here is the technique I like to use for this battle; it has worked for me for a number of years and I hope it'll work for you.

I use:

1. Pandaren Water Spirit (water jet, healing wave, dive)
2. Spiny Terrapin (bite, shell shield, headbutt)
3. Leveling pet (to play it safe, it should probably be around level 14+)

A. Against Siren:

(Start with Pandaren Water Spirit; basically, use dive whenever it's off CD; that way you'll avoid Siren's worst attack each time):

1. Dive
2. Dive hits
3. Healing wave
4-6: Water jet
7. Dive
8. Dive hits
9. Water jet until Siren is dead

B. Against Toothbreaker:

1. Healing wave
2. Switch to leveling pet while Toothbreaker casts Sons of the Root
3. Attack once
4. Switch back to Pandaren Water Spirit
5. Water jet until Toothbreaker is dead. If due to RNG Toothbreaker casts Sons of the Root again, use healing wave or dive.

C. Against Brood of Mothallus:

1. Water jet (personally I have always had a bug where even when my Water Spirit has dived, it still takes damage from some of Brood of Mothallus' attacks; that's why I don't dive on this turn. If you don't have this issue, maybe you could dive now)
2. Healing wave
3. Dive
4. Dive hits
5. Water jet until your Pandaren Water Spirit dies; use healing wave if/when you can.
6. Switch to Spiny Terrapin
7. Shell shield
8. Headbutt
9. Bite until Brood of Mothallus is dead; renew shell shield when it has two stacks left, use headbutt on CD if available

I defeated him last night. I started with Lil Ragnaros and just spammed Magma Wave. When he got down in heath, I swapped in Terrible Turnip and did the same until he wiped out the entire back line. Then it was a long long marathon to bring him down. I hate that lightning spell to change photosynthesis. I think it hurts my guys more than theirs.
