Tamed this after it was summoned by Ordo Warbringer. For me, it did NOT keep its ghostly form. It just reverted to a normal white wolf. I was disappointed, but perhaps it will work for other people and they can let me know which way (if any) there is to make it keep its ghostly appearance.

Oddly enough, its character icon on my screen appears as a spirit wolf rather than a normal wolf.

After seeing these worgs spawn I decided I had to have one - luckily going back in again without completing the quest caused the event to restart. Mine is translucent white, although depending on the angle you're looking at it can appear almost opaque.

Yeh, as stated prior, these wolves are definitely not as transparent at most angles, likely due to the new lighting system in Mists. It shows best in shaded/dark areas, in well lit places it definitely looks opaque. Kind of a bummer after wanting the frostworg from the Hodir dailies- but great for those who don't mind a more subtle effect.

You don't need the quest to have these pups spawn. Just go into the cave and attack Ordo Warbringer. For easy tame stay at the entrance of the cave and attack until he summons the wolves. Lay down an ice slick trap just ahead of you then dismiss pet, and tame. the trap will slow them to give you time to tame before they reach you, although at 89 they didn't do much damage.Ordo stays stationary when he summons the wolves and until there all killed, so he wont be going after you.

Seems to be "somewhat" translucent; however, definitely not spirit looking in comparison to other spirit pets. Added a screenshot showing some of its look. Nothing real exciting.

Tamed one of these beautiful pups earlier this afternoon on my Worgen. As stated in other comments, you do not need to be on the quest to encounter them. In fact, I had three chances as I stayed behind to assist a couple of Horde players in the kill.

It's really not a difficult tame. Engage Ordo, deal some damage, and he will eventually summon four of these guys to his side. Ordo seemed to have stopped attacking. I believe he goes invul while the pups are out. I just set to start taming one straight away, to see what kind of knocks or interrupts they had, and encountered none. It was a simple, click-to-tame encounter. Keep in mind I was level 88 when I did this. Anybody 87+ should be able to get one of these beauties no problem.

They don't appear as ghostly as some would hope, but I personally really like it. From the right angle, you can see through em, but under most circumstances, they're just adorable (though somewhat blood thirsty) looking white puppy dawgs.

Also bares noting: I expected him to be a Spirit Beast (meaning he'd have Spirit Walk and Spirit Mend ) but he is in fact classified as a normal Worg. Raiders and dungeon goers will know this mean he has Furious Howl, one of the abilities that, at least from what I'm told, makes wolves such fantastic pets to have in PVE encounters. Thus, I can use this boy in dungeons, and keep Skoll for me "Look how awesome I am" pet while I'm strutting around Stormwind.

Ordo is in a cave, and the cave has a firewall, that i dont get throught.. please help me. How do i do? do i have to do a quest before?

Okay so I changed factions, all my quests reset, and the cave is blocked off by a giant wave of fire, and I cannot get in even after killing the other NPCs that create the fire shield. I don't see how you guys are gaining entrance so easily :(

FYI, It seems that Ordo only summons the pets after he is at >50% health. As a 90 with ToT gear, I was afraid to kill him too fast, so I simply engaged him using Tranq shot. After standing around for about 5 minutes without damaging him and letting him beat on me, he still hadn't called the worgs. So I did some very light dps with Concuss, and he finally summoned the pups at 47%. Good luck!

I have an alliance hunter, and didn't see anything here about what to do if you couldn't find a handy hordie around to open up the wall of fire for you thru the quest line. Soooo, for anyone in my situation, here's what you can do:

Dismiss pet, and pull a bunch of pats that roam close to the front of the cave to you. Stand right in front of the wall of fire. Depending on your level, you may want to be sure to bring healing pots since you'll be razzing into combat.

Die.

Rez inside the firewall, dps him down below 50% and tame your wolf. Pretty much that simple.

Another little tip for those hunters wanting to tame this pet. If you can't do the quest line, or simply don't want to, but have the legendary cloak then you're in luck.

Seeing as the cape's proc shoots through walls, it can be very useful in many situations. Luckily for us hunters, this is another such situation...

Just pull a mob (like the yaks conveniently placed outside the cave) and wait until the cape effect procs. When it does, auto-attack/click on Ordo. The proc will shoot through the fire wall and aggro him. Just kite him out, dps until he summons the wolves, tame one.. and you're good to go.

Easy :)

I took off all my gear, pulled the nearby beasts with an Ice Trap, let them kill me, and resurrected just beyond the fire wall.

Since no one has mentioned it. For some people that might be worried about completing the quest and not being able to return some time in the future to tame one of these. Go ahead and turn the quest in, Ordo will still spawn in the cave after the quest is complete so you don't have to worry about losing your chance. :)

For Legion and beyond; either faction:
1.) Go to the cave entrance.
2.) Get naked. Make sure your rings, trinkets or cloak(?) doesn't have some sort of damage proc if you're going to leave them on.
3.) Either walk in (if you can, skip to step 6) or mount up and fly really high.
4.) If flying, fall and walk back to you body.
5.) Go into the cave as a ghost then rez inside the fire wall.
6.) Hit Ordo with 軟趴趴的泡棉長劍.
7.) Tame your pet.

Update for patch 9.0.1
Soft Foam Sword no longer works! Maybe level 35 is no longer trivial to a level 50? I'm not sure so it might work at level 60 and beyond. Anyways, new strat below:
1.) Fly to Kota Basecamp
2.) Get completely naked, that includes jewelry.
3.) Fly really high and fall to your death.
4.) Take spirit rez.
5.) Fly to cave entrance.
6.) Again, fly really high and fall to your death.
7.) Do not take the spirit rez this time. Fly back to your body.
8.) Rez inside the cave. Make sure you're still naked.
9.) Beat Ordo with your fist until he's blow 50%.
10.) Tame your pet.

No longer tameable as of Patch 8.3
Fire Camp Ordo is now cleared out of all NPC's including Ordo himself, and the firewall is gone. Shame.

I just got the spirit wolf today. (9-5-2020) I had to fly up and dismount in air and die since I didn't do the opening questline because i'm lazy and have no patience. I did rez inside then I had an issue, I couldn't hit him without killing him. Good thing a Horde player was doing the quest and beat him down until the worgs rezzed. I immediately tamed one and he is now my pet! If If the horde didn't come along to help me out, then I would have used the method mentioned as top response. Get the Foam sword and try that. Being 120 and not able to do no harm sucks sometimes! Happy Hunting folks!

I tried today, using the fly up, die and res within the chamber approach. The foam sword toy would not engage. As an Engineer I was able to finally use the Deployable Bullet Dispenser, Legion Engineering (1). It took 4 of them, ( they have a 2 minute cooldown ), to get him to 51% so that the Spirit worgs would appear.

As of 9.2 you just die revive behind wall use 軟趴趴的泡棉長劍 and he spawns 4 of them so if you play BM and want a pair just tame and dismiss and tame another one.

Quick update, Expansion :war within.

lvl 35 i went there died by the door. got Ordo to 50%.
Turtled and tamed one of the Spirit wolves!
lvl 35 this was very easy.

As of this note, was able to tame Spirt Worg. Lvl 70 Hunter. Died above cave & rez'd inside, to get past Fire Wall. Used Foam Sword on Oro, & then Freeze Trap on one of the summoned Spirit Worg. Killed the others & then Tamed one in trap. Then killed Oro.
