Objective of quest: Encroaching Storm

This is a normal wolf class beast, tameable by hunters. This will not be a Spirit Beast (as of the time of this post), which may make it a highly-sought after pet for Marksman and Survival hunters, however it is not a rare beast and is easily obtainable.

Thundermaw can easily be tamed by simply using a standard freezing trap.

The same skin is also used on a level 91 mob appropriately named "Cracklefang" (un-tameable due to level restriction), also in the same zone: Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Cracklefang has been observed holding a sword in it's mouth.

Note: This is a different color version of the Spirit Beast Skoll.

I saw one on the river earlier and thought "OMG! SKOLL HAS A TWIN!"

Then I found out it was rare. =/
But still cool, nevertheless. Super easy to tame, I just used glyph of tame beast just in case.

As someone who camped for Skol I'm a little salty about this, but at the same time I don't really care beause now I can use his skin when I'm not in BM.

I tamed this wolf thinking it would retain the Thunder spell, it does not. :'(

Anyone else been having issues with overly bursty spawns of these? Tonight I've had a few pulls of around 20-30 wolves at once on killing gazelle packs. Which wouldn't be so bad if I were in frost spec, or if arc/fire mages had a bigger AoE cap to compensate for the fewer freezes.

Get this guy while you can, he keeps the lightning around him when you tame him. how cool is that for a non-spirit beast? Blizz will probably make them untameable in the future. That's my guess at least..
**edit they are by the river, at 36,57. That's where they don't travel in packs

In addition to the "What do you MEAN, you called another pack to help?" effect, so far I've found these guys to be unoutrunnable. This word, which I just made up, means "OMG, how big is your territory anyway?" They think they're real. Masters of the server. Masters of you. They are a wolf pack--patient, enduring, and OP'd.

I don't understand why so many people are having trouble with this guy.

I found this guy alone by the river at 36, 57 just like the cords on the map. He was really easy to tame. Hit me once, that's about it.

Blue is my favorite color and I really love canines. So when I saw this guy I flipped. The lighting effects looked so awesome. He may not be rare, but just for his looks alone makes him worth having. I didn't even know about him until I tamed him and looked up his information on here.

I saw a pack of Thundermaw's today at 3-26-2013.. I'm wondering is it a glitch or is there suppose to be a pack of Thundermaw's? Oh well, it was cool. :P

These are actually pretty good for farming Skyshards as long as you can pull a big group at a time.

As someone who:
1. Doesn't have the patience to camp for spirit beasts
2. Prefers MM over BM,
this is a good Skoll look alike. Not quite the same color, but still cool.

Firstly this is likely the Best looking Normal Tamed Mob in the Game. 2ndly, this makes Skoll look no longer unique an any 90 Hunter can get this Mob. However it is classified as a Normal Wolf an not a Spirt beast so there are still reasons to get Skoll.
Hoping Blizz makes more of these Spirit like beasts for non Bm Hunts, maybe still set them as Rare so we can have a good hunt for em. But otherwise this Pet is a Must have the moment you enter the Vale!

The screenshots really don't do justice to my favorite part of this wolf pet - it constantly crackles with lightning and static electricity. Very cool looking.

What's not to love about a spirit beast skin on a normal wolf? I actually like this guys coloration better than Skoll's too.

If your looking to tame one I believe that on one side of the hill they are on their own rather than in big packs.

This NPC is amazing. I've been killing it for weeks to get Skyshards and combine them into a Crystal shard. The only thing is, it takes pretty damn long to get the Crystal shard.

i actually tamed a thundermaw, as well as Skoll, and come to find out when they're tamed, the thundermaw is actually smaller than a tamed skoll of the same level. talk about extra disappointing. P.S. thundermaw is just a regular wolf when tamed, it's not a spirit beast just for those who are wondering. which means you can use it without being BM o;

I love the skin color even more than the spirit beasts' - Thundermaw will be a great beast to have before I get Skoll!

If u are wondering why there is so much groups farming them... Since personal loot, every wolf can be looted by all 5 people in group. As group u got more coverage to kill them more often therefor loot them more often. Re-spawn time of these wolfs is about 10 sec. Pretty quick Skyshard farm :)

Edit: After an hour of farming I have looted 2xSkyshard ...
Edit2: 1h:11min: 3rd Skyshard dropped... I'm getting pretty good at killing those wolfs...
Edit3: 2h06min: 4th dropped... i'm done for tonight. So 2 shard per hour it seems.

Edit4: Well I stayed a bit longer... an hour longer. After 3h14min i got 5th Skyshard. So I guess its about 6-7 hours farming in a group to get a mount (But it is RNG based so time my vary, remember !). I'm halfway there.

Today I was the saddest sad little Hunter with no Hati anymore...so I just went and tamed one of these to take her place.
