Their Flamespit attack has only 15 yard range, so casters and hunters can easily back up enough to make it fail while still doing damage. This is especially useful to shadow priests, who can back up to 20 yards and Mind Flay while the Roc casts and fails.

...also, has anyone else noticed that the location for these things forms a big question mark on the map?

no, they do not glow after you tame them. because we cant have nice things.

In the 'Clamlette Surprise' cooking quest, you are advised to kill Fire Rocs for the giant eggs, but in my experience, the drop-rate is closer to 10% (10/106) rather than what's listed here.

I just tamed this about 60 seconds ago. It does NOT keep the fire effect. At least it didn't for me, not sure why it is for others.

Confirmed. I tamed one and it did NOT keep the sparks/fire effect. Also tried a Searing Roc just for good measure, with the same result.

The macro /script PetAbandon() (as posted on the Searing Roc comments page) did not work either.
