Snarler used to be one of the most popular Hunter pets as he retained the 100 pts resist after taming that he has before taming making him deadly to dress wearing classes.

He has since been "fixed" by blizzard, and no longer bothers the neighbours kids and just sleeps all day beside the fireplace. He is one of the few all black wolves, and quite a nice looking pet.

If you try to tame this dude, you'll fast notice that the Fade Out thing cancels your Tame Beast ability. To prevent this, Mark him with Hunter's Mark :-)

I just tamed this wolf he makes a great pet i love him :D.use hunters mark so he doesnt brake tame.when i did it i 4got 2 put it on him but i had a druid sleep him 4 me.4 me he spawned next 2 this building that had this night elf from the lunar festival on it hope that helps=}.P.S:good luck on catching him^_^

It didn´t take long for me to find him at all...but!:P
I have caught many other rare pets before this, and I can say that I was surprised and thought it would be piece a cake just because he was there from the beginning... but nonono nothing is that easy:P
Got killed a couple of times by nearby beasts and as said earlier, the Snarler fades when taming O.o

So it took an hour anyway to tame! I didn´t have hunters mark, but if u have, try it:P
Well, I got him around 9 server time...

According to the official World of Warcraft Atlas, this mob is rated as Uncommon rarity with a respawn timer of ~5-8 hours.

Taming Snarler is quite easier then other pets if you use Hunter's Mark on him.
Why? Because mid-tame he will run back to his path to turn invisible for 2 seconds, but if you mark him, taming will not interrupt and he will merely run off, then run back to you.

I think his name could be a reference to the Transformer Cybertron character Snarl, a wolf transformer. I could be wrong though...

Snarler is one of the 14 rare spawn wolves. He has one special ability and regular melee-attacks which hit as hard as the other wolves attacks nearby. His ability, Fade Out, will make him invisible (= invincible) for 2 seconds. This ability is completely unique to Snarler and is not used by any other mob/NPC in the game.

The other 13 rare wolves are:

Snarler - spawns in Feralas
Barnabus - spawns in Badlands
Lupos - spawns in Duskwood

P.S. Ghost Howl used to be marked as a rare spawn (even though he really wasn't one).

This little doggy is a really good pet. I've had him since I could get him. It took me FOREVER to find him. He was well worth the search, I finally found him right as I was about to give up. Weird that's how I always find rare mini-pets and stuff.

Yup, Hunter's Mark sorts the Fade Out issue. Additionally, the little rascal seems to be immune* to Freezing Trap, so make sure that your Aspect of the Monkey is up, or you're in for a real beating if you're around Snarler's level...

Edit: Just wanted to add that Snarler looks really good; smooth animations and does the good 'ol wolf howl whenever it gets bored! ;D

*I was the same level as Snarler when I tamed him. Either I had bad luck with my Freezing Traps (possibly caused by the Fade Out ability) or higher level traps will work better. Who knows?

I'm a level 42 Night Elf hunter. I was on a different character and i saw a hunter with a black wolf of this design, so i did a google search and found out it must have been Snarler i saw. I followed the instructions here and i just got my very own Snarler!

This was the very first time i went looking for him. It was 04:30 server time and i jumped on my mount and started running about the area in Feralas shown on the map above, spamming the macro:

/tar Snarler

...and after a few minutes i found him!

Cleared the area first of other mobs so i wouldn't be disturbed. Put my hunter's mark on him (as advised) and bagged him. Had no problems taming him whatsoever.

He's gonna be with me all the way to level 80 - i always wanted a black wolf like this!

Ðhampir from Destromath here (Alliance side). It only took me about a half hour to locate and tame Snarler. He was right infront of the Pavilion. :3 Good luck and happy hunting! Don't forget to use your Hunter's Mark BEFORE you tame him or when he disappears he will end your tame pet. ALSO! Use your Freezing Trap before you start taming.

Are his resistances bugged after taming again? I logged into my hunter that I haven't played in forever and my tamed Snarler still has 55 magic resistance to everything unbuffed.

45 Night Elf.
Unbelievable luck. Stumbled around for a couple minutes trying to get to so I could start looking, found the spot, checked the beasts on my minimap, and there he was. Hit him with Hunter's Mark, laid a Freeze trap, tapped him with an Auto-Shot and started backing up. Couldn't find my Tame button >_< ... He did his 2 sec fade, ran straight through the trap, and jumped on me. Tamed him just in time to get jumped by a bear and another wolf. Close call, but I got a fine-looking scrapper out of it. My opinion, but he's the best-looking wolf/worg/what have you (except maybe the blighthound/demon dog thingies, but I'm not gonna see lvl 74 for quite a while :D ).
(BTW, +1 on the resistances thing; he still has 44 base on everything. Cool)

I've usually had alot of luck with rares, Found Humar the Pridelord on my Second Vist - Yay
And Azzere the Skyblade on my Second Vist - Yay!
But Snarler has eluded me for several attempts now :(
I'm hoping my Lucky Rock will help me get him now >:D

I finally got him :) I was tracking Beasts while flying from Org to Camp Mojache so I spotted him on my mini-map went round found him and tamed him with no problems - The Hunters Mark is important - Thanks for that^^

I always had this as my hunter pet and have started a new hunter since the Shattering... I went to Feralas but couldn't find him :(

Tamed Snarler on my level 41 night elf. Beware, there are a bunch of treants and dryads around the area he is found. They could prove an issue while taming Snarler. I found Snarler to be one of the hardest rare wolves to find. I went to the spawn point every chance I got for quite a while until I finally found him. He was well worth it though! Good luck to all you fellow hunters!

spammed for maybe 30s while flying around Lower Wilds / Lariss Pavilion. Lots of pats & mobs in the area for anyone around low-mid 40s. Looks awesome ^^

Well, I found him easy no problem. But killed him on accident. Noob move, I know. He was exactly above the top tree stump North of Camp Mochjace

Just got him! So happy, after 1h of waiting. Luckely for me, i have just started mining as proffession and could mine iron while i was waiting. I will post a pic of him to!
I found and tamed him at the exact spot of 75.75 38.25
and was only using hunters mark. But he didnt disappear for me..

Good luck finding this beautiful creature :)

Ambushed me while I was on my 39 (Now i'm 42) Cat Druid. I had to also take down a few other mobs who I was attacking for a Quest then this Lil bugger Sneaked up on me. I take it a Hunter wanted to tame it as while I was fighting fiercely to stay alive the Hunter (lv 90) Just stood there watching me take 3 or so mobs barely keeping up my hp. In my Pride I kept fighting an Successfully killed all mobs including him. Gave me a worthwhile Ding for such a battle.

Unsure why the Hunt wanted him as there is plenty of these models out there. But The Exp was certainly worth it. Just be careful When questing in the area you could suddenly find yourself in my predicament.

Seems to have a shorter spawn timer than I remember. I tamed him, then came back maybe an hour later to take a screenie of him "at home" and he was back again.
