Quick note: They are highly resistant to Shadow magic. My mind blasts usually hit way above 500 with no shadow weavings; fully shadow weaved, i was hitting for 300-350. Same on all my dots. So, fellow Shadow Priests, I'd kill them with Holy Fire and Smite - your dots and mind blasts will be weak. I personally usually killed by Holy Fire-Smite-Smite-Mindblast finisher.

I have tested mage spells from all three schools of magic and can confirm they are highly resistant to fire, frost, and arcane schools of magic. They are a bitch for mages to kill, but not impossible.

They're just resistant to magic in general. If you've ever played WC3:TFT, you'd know that the faerie dragon is *the* anti-magic unit.

I ran some numbers as a 47 Fire Mage based on averages pulled from recount. I did a batch of fire spells, batch of frost spells, and a batch of arcane spells for variety. Not getting too specific but I consistently saw anywhere from 30-50% resistance to magic damage, example:
My fireball normally hits for an average of 421 damage (based on wolves and bears around the area + grimtotem nearby), on the sprites it was running an average of 288 (actual numbers pulled from recount)

288/421= 0.684

So they resisted 31.6% of the damage from my fireball consistently. The tests showed the same resistance numbers for arcane and frost as well. Not sure on priests or warlocks, someone else would need to run those numbers.

And one last note, you can see the resist's in your combat log if you should so choose to get that into it.

Bottom line, around a 30-50% resistance to spell damage.

I have just been grinding on these.
I found that all my spells as a frost mage kept getting resisted, so instead I used Arcane Missiles. Everyone of these hit.
So if your a mage and are grinding on these. Use Arcane Missiles as they seem to be alot more effective than frost and fire.

These guys spawn really fast for mobs as far as I've seen. With just myself out farming them as a level 80 shadowpriest, by the time I had dotted all the sprite darters and looted them, all the ones I'd just killed had respawned. Just thought I'd mention it.

A nice bonus while farming the sprite darter is they can drop the OOX-22/FE distress beacon, which is one of the 3 needed to get the Mechanical Chicken pet. Darter kill #49 dropped the beacon for me.

Edit: Kill #291 dropped the pet!

As a Warlock, even with 3/3 in the Suppression talent, and casting Curse of Elements, damage was only reaching 75% normal, at best.

The Sprite Darter's Mana Burn was a particular problem. The Voidwalker was taking a lot of hits. Also, the temperamental Darter would frequently turn toward my character, zapping 500 mana, and turning it into 250 damage.

Voidwalkers are well-suited to mitigating physical damage. However, this little anti-mana opponent was a nuisance. No mana, means no taunts. It was frequently necessary to re-summon, to refresh its mana pool. I wasn't doing much better. Even with the Affliction spec, it was a challenge to keep health and mana up.

It was a definite improvement. It just needs a little fine-tuning. The pet isn't terribly bright. It used Spell Lock when ever the cooldown was up. That's too random. The pet ability won't go on your action bar. But a quick macro fixes that. I'd temporarily borrowed the place where I normally have Fear.

Felhunters don't generate a lot of threat, but it's enough to fully DOT the target, and begin draining. When the Sprite Darter begins casting, let him waste his time. Around 75% of the way thorough; BAM! Spell Lock shuts the little guy down!

Now we're breezing through the darters with no problems. The Intellect and Spirit from Fel Intelligence is a nice bonus. Well, back to grinding!

I am with the Horde faction, and I farmed the darters for HOURS with over 1000+ kills and have been unsuccessful getting one of these pets. I am willing to bet that this is a Zone Drop in Feralas and you simply have to get lucky in order to get it to drop. Don't waste your time farming the Sprite Darters.

For those killing these in search of the 精龍的蛋, this item is now a zone drop in Feralas. As the drop rate has been reduced considerably (around 3/10000, or a 0.03% chance) from *any* enemy in the zone, rather than just Sprite Darters, farming them is no longer as necessary as it once was.

While in Feralas today, I wanted to farm the Sprite darter for the pet, but I can not attack them. They've got green names/name tags and I get the error text: you cannot attack that target... Change made in 4.3?
