he does more DPS than even the rarespwn of BC goretooth given goretooth is a tenacity croc
all wolves also have furious howl which needs to be considered when lookin for a dps pet
this buff affects u, pet, and surrounding party memebers.

anyway i only upgraded from him to King Mosh the devilsaur when i hit lvl 67

Lupos is one of the 14 rare spawn wolves. He used to have 2 static drops, Hide of Lupos and Nightbane Staff but they no longer exist in his loot table as of Cataclysm. Pre-Cataclysm he also had no special attacks and his health and damage dealt was in par with other wolves in the area, but rare mobs were boosted and in some cases slightly altered (new attacks etc.) making Lupos much tougher than regular mobs, albeit still easily killable by level 15+ players. Lupos uses Leaping Rush (it's like the druid's Feral Charge) and Rabies which slows down your health regeneration and reduces your intellect and stamina by 5% for 20 seconds.

P.S. Ghost Howl used to be marked as a rare spawn (even though he really wasn't one).

Lupos sadly has a limp due to having a worg model, when used as a hunter pet he limps and lags behind you.

I was randomly killing wolves in the area for their meat to feed my hyena and came across Lupos. Tamed him for the hell of it, don't know if I'll keep him. Just a random note - he had a silver dragon around his portrait so he his a Rare Elite - not just rare, like this site classifies him.

Just found him on my lvl20 Alt, I got a whopping 2.4k exp just for killing him.

Found him once by luck around the boarder between brightwood grove and darkened banks at the north east tip of the hills that surround twilight grove.
Does not move much from spawn area and is normally flanked by two dire wolves.

about 45 min of spamming/hunting, and he did not drop the staff i wanted. or the cloak i didn't want. meh.

there is also another wolf 鬼嚎 Ghost Howl although not considered rare or unique he is quite special he turns into a spirit wolf once his health gets low

I ran into Lupos today, and he had a Shivarra minion.

It was a level 20 Shivarra, <Lupos's Minion.> The minion did not patrol with him, but rather on her own, and when I killed him, she despawned.

I have seen many, many Lupos spawns killed, and never ever seen it with a minion. There was no warlock in the region, or at least none from my faction, and no faction symbol on the Shivarra. She was hostile.

I assume a warlock bug somehow. Weird, though!

I was taming him today when this player came up and started attacking him and killed him. Told me he thought he was a quest animal and that I was killing him. Made me so mad as I had been looking for him for a week.

Found and Tamed Lupos around coordinates 70, 25. Should be noted he did not spawn until I had killed a wolf there.

As of now, this guy sapwn in way less than an hour.

Hunters really like named rare pets.

Since the recent patch reintroduced pre-Cata mob-specific drops, I've been farming this guy to get 夜行法杖.
I've killed him around 20+ times, and got a random BoE green each time. No staff, not even 魯伯斯的皮.
I used a level 20 Mage with Chromie Time, but had no problems with getting other rare-specific drops before.
Then, I noticed something on the staff page. It is listed as a SPECIALISATION-SPECIFIC DROP.
So I switched to my level 20 Feral Druid, Chromie time off, and got the staff on 2nd kill.
Was it a coincidence? Maybe. Maybe I was just extremely unlucky before.
Maybe Blizzard changed the loot spec requirements halfway through the week.
Other rare items had similar requirements listed on the page, but I had no problems getting them all on my Mage.
Either way, my advice is to hunt for the staff on Feral/Guardian Druid, Survival Hunter, or Brewmaster/Windwalker Monk.
