He drops (or at least used to drop) 猴人長桿煙斗 on beta. On my last 2 kills I didn't see the Hozen Peace Pipe; it was either removed, put on some kind of cooldown or it stops dropping after a certain rep threshold is reached.

Scritch, a rare elite, can be found in Kun-Lai Summit, in one of the four caves around the Dooker Dome, just NE of Kota Basecamp.

@ThreeBlades - I've killed him twice on live, he dropped the pipe the first time but not the second, my theory is it was set to a chance drop.

I killed him twice, once in his south-western house on launch day and then again in his north eastern location. He dropped the peace pipe the first time but not the second.

Evades like crazy during going bananas. Keep him close to the mouth of his cave
Can be tricky since there are adds in the area including an elite. Call a friend if your DPS is low.

Hey guys! Quick post to explain the easiest way to farm this guy.

One, NPCScan is a given. After every killed clear cache, if you're happy to AFK on your mount above Chomp Chomp it'll be easy to farm.

He spawns in one of the four caves around the area, be careful, a LOT of people will be wanting to farm this guy because of the drop. The second he pops up you're going to want to find + tag him.

Once tagged, do NOT take him out of the cave. You risk pulling too many mobs and he can evade / reset once outside.

He has 3 abilities, the first, throw filth, is not important and is not something to worry about. The second is bananarang, it'll normally hover directly where he's standing- or fly where you had been standing at the start of the cast time.

The final is going banana's, he'll jump about the edge of the cave- hitting for 140k damage per jump. Stand in the middle of the cave and pop CD's if required, self heal. The best way to avoid this is to either stun or root him for the duration, but if this is not an option you'll have to do what you can to survive.

He has a 10% chance to drop the peace pipe, and he respawns between 30 and 120 minutes. Be prepared to wait for a LONG time before getting this pipe- but it's worth it, you can either sell it for a LOT of money or use it to get your reputation up by a fairly significant amount!

I took a chance today to find him this morning and did at about 5:30 am. And he did drop the pipe, first time I've killed him too :). I will say an easy way to kill him is let the filth attack hit you, dodge his bananarang, and just move out of the cave while he goes bananas. Just move back in right before he finishes. Easy going

Also a little tip for farming. If you are a shadow priest its stupid easy. His "going banana's" CD and your Void Tentacles CD are pretty much exactly the same. As soon as he starts casting just cast Void Tentacles. He won't cast it again until your Void Tentacles are off CD. I do not have to take him outside the cave for this reason and have never died while trying to kill him.

All Hozen rares use the same set of abilities.

Toss Filth hits for negligible damage, but its stacking damage debuff can be trouble if it gets too high. Fortunately, it should have time to reset during Going Bananas.

Bananarang is lethal if it strikes you. Simply strafe to one side while the Hozen is casting it until he throws it. Remember to stay out of the path even after this, because true to the name it will come back to him.

Going Bananas is the most dangerous ability in a Hozen's arsenal. During Going Bananas, the Hozen will leap around the battlefield causing massive damage if he lands on you. It's hard to get out from under the Hozen's landing point because he moves so fast, so surviving this attack is somewhat a matter of luck unless you have defensive cooldowns to pop every time he uses it, or can kill him before he does it a second time.

It's best to fight Hozen in a large, open area to give him more room to jump around, decreasing the chances that he'll land on you; if he doesn't start in such a space, kite him to one. Alternatively, stunning the Hozen during the channel will put a stop to the attack, while stunning him during the initial cast will only cause him to cast it again once the effect wears off.

This mob doesn't leash, from what I can tell. Pulled him a good 400 yards from his spawn and he didn't reset.

It became apparent to me that he has somewhere near a 40-80 minute Respawn timer. I never once looted the Hozen Peace Pipe, though, and from speaking with other farmers, it almost appears to have somewhere near a 5% drop rate, not the 10% posted. But that could just be RNG.

On another note, make sure you interrupt his "Going Banana's" ability with anything that disorients or stuns. Being a hunter, I used Scatter Shot whenever it was off CD.

I hope you all find this information useful. *hint: if you're fighting to tag him because of other farmers, make sure to incorporate /target Scritch into one of your instant ranged abilities, then hit the ability whenever NpcScan goes off, and it'll save you a second of target clicking.

If you're having troubles with Scritch, I suggest taking advantage of the buffs that are lying around the area. Objects called Luckydo. They give you 3 kinds of buffs.

幸運星 - Lamp looking thingy object (Sorry i don't really know what it is but I'll submit a screenshot) Gives you movement speed which will help you dodge Hozen's Bananarangs and/or Going Bananas, and also a dodge buff which can help you avoid melee damage.
幸運星 - Doll looking object. Tooltip seems wrong, but this will give you a buff similar to Zul Gurub's freezing cauldron, your next attack will cause a 15 second stun (and will also turn the target into a doll similar to the object) . Will help intensely.
幸運星 - Bottle looking object. This one's a massive dps increase. Will help you kill Scritch faster.

Stuns and other cc work like all other rare elites..

You can use a root if you have if he does Going Bananas -- he won't be able to jump around which will not cause you any damage. (I personally use 狂野衝鋒 from a Guardian druid which is a 4 sec root, or a 自然迅捷 + 糾纏根鬚 will work too)
if you're gonna use a stun/disorient to counter Going Bananas, do it milliseconds AFTER he casts it so that he'll go on cooldown with that skill. -- Knockbacks do NOT work when he starts casting it.

EDIT: Additional information: Luckydo's are actually friendly npc's/objects, they will have nameplates if you turn on friendly nameplates(SHIFT+V by default)

I killed this guy using my hunter. As a hunter you can send in your pet and avoid all of his abilities. Stand outside of the cave while your pet does most of the work. Yes I'm speced Beast Mastery and use Stampede whenever available. I don't think this matters much, but used my Core Hound.

I killed the NPC just outside of the cave around the arena, just to give me room. By the way the cave is at 50,52 next to the arena. You want to avoid the 88 elite that trolls the area, but that is easily done by squeezing in close to the opening of the cave without actually going in. Once he passes you can get back to business.

Mind you if you are hit with "Going Bananas" twice and you don't have some type of avoidance ability, you are dead. That is the main reason why I stay outside of the cave. For some reason these abilities don't hit the pet as badly. Also, whenever he casts "Bananarang" stay away from the opening as well. A few swipes from this and you are also down. Timing is everything, just keep healing your pet, sneak in a shot or two from time to time and in no time he will be dead. I recommend the use of a good casting addon that shows you what your target is casting. I use "Quartz" it is very nice and easy to customize. Once he's done casting whatever ability he is using at the time and the effect is gone it gives you the chance to go in and hit him with "Serpent Sting" or something else. It also gives you the chance to heal your pet, very important.

I got a couple of blues out of the deal, one BOP and the other BOE. Nice.

FWIW, I'm on one of the Taiwan servers, and yesterday at one time it took 155 minutes for him to respawn, which he dropped the pipe. Not saying it's related though of course.
Today I logged on and camped for at least an hour and spawned and dropped the pipe again. Was a bit lucky I guess.

Can someone confirm whether or not you can get multiple of Hozen Peace Pipe drop in your inventory? I know it says it's a 20 stackable, but I'm a bit skeptical since I got a pipe in my bag waiting for the cooldown, and I haven't got another pipe drop for a whole week.

Or I'm just plain bad luck now :(

His spawn can be short as 40 minutes (as far as I've seen in the past few days), and as long as 2 1/2 hours.

Edit: had a spawn of over 3 hours from last kill, but I did leave him for enough time to do a set of golden lotus dailies on an alt, so theres a low chance he spawned at his minimum time, someone killed him, and body despawned before I got back.

Tips for going bananas: if you have any stun or disorient, use it just as he finishes casting and starts channeling it. If you have a root, use it as he starts casting it so hes rooted for the 8 seconds that hes channeling (re-root if you have dots). Make sure you aren't dpsing him if your roots can break easily, and especially if you have dots on him.
If you have neither, run outside of the cave, and as he chases you out, and he jumps out of the way of the entrance, run right back in (after doing a small hit if you're able to to avoid evading him). Another trick that I learned after killing him on my shaman a few times. You can stand in the middle of the room when he first casts going bananas, and he tends to over jump it for the most part, just adjust slightly.

For bananarang you can put your back against a wall, and the banana will start going backwards right away. Make sure you aren't inside his hit box or you'll get hit by it as it spawns.

The first post on this page by Tunica is spot on. I found Scritch twice within a couple hours. The first time he'd already been killed. The second time I tried to solo him, but got destroyed. My main spec is holy (priest), so I went off spec (shadow) to try to down him (and my gear is not really ideal for soloing this guy - it's all spirit, no hit). I think you're gonna have to have a tank or dps spec with solid gear or get a friend to go with you. Primary healers like myself are probably out of luck. I tried Scritch twice, and only took about 40% of his health max and that was blowing all my cooldowns.

Been Camping scritch for the past day and I've been keeping time on spawns from death. Just had him spawn 46 minutes after death.

He seems to bug out an AWFUL lot, twice now I've found him just standing there and when you try to attack he does nothing but evade. Ended up ticketing it.

One thing I've noticed about people is that they have the annoying habit of sticking around and camping rares when they would otherwise just keep checking back if you were not there camping or they did not see you. With that in mind, I tend to try and find places to camp rares where I can /tar them and be able to pick them up, and at the same time not be seen. For Scritch, there is an awesome place to hide that completely conceals you and allows you to be able to /tar him when he does spawn. At the Dooker Dome (where Scritch is located) there is a giant head with glowing eyes partway up the wall behind the cage.... you can land on this head a little ways back and you actually sink down far enough into it that you are completely covered (when you do this you should be mounted on a hippogryph or gryphon or something equally small, drakes tend to stick out in places, making you visible), yet you can still /target Scritch when he spawns. I don't know how many times I see people do a fly-by and when they realize he is not there, they leave, whereas before the same people would sit and camp as soon as they saw me. Hope this helps you campers out!

For hunters I consider the fight easy.
It's not hard to down a hozen, just to time the CC's right and doing enough DMG.

For a 90 I wouldn't think Scritch is hard to down.
The only thing you should avoid is 香蕉迴旋鏢 and 暴走. The rest of the dmg wouldn't matter so much except if you have the aggro.

丟出穢物 isn't a huge problem for us hunters, the pet can take the dmg but remember to heal it, we don't want it to die, right?

First off, if I'm too late to cast Intimidation I just scatter is 暴走, I never know where he is going to land. He does around 100k+ dmg on me by just hitting me once with it. It would be great to choose Exhiliration if you don't have a Spirit Beast with you (or healer).

香蕉迴旋鏢 is easy to avoid, don't stand behind your pets back since it will probably get thrown there.
You could use an interrupt or scattering him when he is throwing that if you're unsure you will get caught.
Otherwise I'd save my scatter and stun until 丟出穢物.

Other than that.. I'd pull Scritch out of his hiding place, Cagemasters won't attack you, as long as you keep your bow away from them. The elites that walks back and forward may attack you. I usually put a trap at the spot they are walking, if they would attack me I could just get a trap out.

The other spots where Cagemasters and Elites aren't "placed", I'd clear the sides up so I don't accedently pull them during the fight, it would make it harder to survive.. If not bursting them down, ofcourse. Saves time though..

There's no spawn timer for these rares. Once all are killed in the area, they all spawn at once. If you have your route, you can kill almost everyone in a single zone unless there are campers.

If you are camping a rare and he's not spawned in 2 hours, there's another rare that has yet to be killed. Again, once that last one is dead, all are back.

I waited for Jon-Dar for 4 hours. Went over and killed Nal'lak, came back, and cleared the whole zone from there.

Can anyone confirm if he still drops 猴人長桿煙斗? I have had it drop in the past, but during my last 50 kills or so it hasn't dropped anymore. Could be RNG, but if the loottable has changed, I'd like to not waste more time on this... So any confirmation on this is appreciated.

Just downed him for first time today at 6:30 Server time on Aman'Thul. Used Voidlord to tank him in Destro spec. He dropped Kafa Picker's Bracers.
He was the last Rare NPC I needed for my Glorious! achiev. Good luck to any one who is still hunting for rares and congrats to anyone that already has this achiev.

Been sitting at this guy's spawn for FOUR HOURS while working today and he has yet to show up. I know I haven't missed him and I'm pretty sure my npc scan is working. This just feels kinda ridiculous.

I've noticed his spawn as far as I calculated ranges from an hour to one hour and ten minutes after death, I think how long the battles goes on for also depends on his spawn or even how long it takes for the body to despawn. I left the loot on him to test this and after about 15 minutes he despawned and did show up about 10 minutes late. (Chance? possibly would have to do it a few more times to be sure of this.). More to the point peak hours for him seem to be between the 10th and 20th minute of every hour, if he wasn't killed between then he might show up abit late. I've had as late of a spawn as 40 minutes on the hour. However this was early morning. On high pop servers I've noticed it was closer to the 10th minute than the 20th, on a medium pop server such as Sisters of Elune it tends to be between those minutes almost everytime. As long as someone is actively farming him. As for the peace pipe? Out of twenty kills I've had 5 drop for me, I had 2 drop back to back for me within his hourish spawn rate. The drop isn't as bad as the crystal of insanity So it's worth farming for.

If you die and someone else kills him while you still have tag, you will get credit for the kill but you will NOT receive any loot. This just happened to me.

Solo'd today as an 87 brewmaster monk in leveling gear. Just use lots of self heals, take it slow, and get out of the cave during Go Bananas.

flew around kunlai for about 5 hours yesterday and he had yet to spawn and today i log on and its been 2 hours and no spawn ... so idk

This guy should be soloable by all melee as long as you have 1 or 2 stuns. I would prefer 2 stuns and you will see why. First, of course, engage him. Do all of your attacks and stuff but do not stun! Toss filth is not an attack that you should worry about until the higher levels. Next, he will cast bananarang. Just simply move out of the way to avoid it. Next he will cast going bananas. While he is jumping around, cast one of your stuns. You will HAVE to run up to him for a second. For you druids out there, he will not be affected by immobilizes while jumping around. Then rinse and repeat. Once he casts going bananas again, your stun will most likely still be recharging. That's why you want your 2 stuns, although I am pretty sure pallys with the hand of justice talent or whatever it's called will be fine. This strategy goes for all hozen rares because of the ability sharing. Have fun doing this and get your pipes and vanity items! I can confirm that this works because I have tried it on various characters. (Druids, pallidans, and a death knight)

How to farm Scritch:

Get the addon NPC_Scan

Park your toon above the giant cage

Wait for the notification (noise/flashing screen) that he has spawned. Have a "/target scr" macro ready so you can see where he is on your mini map. I usually have WoW in the background and watch a movie or something.

Kill Scritch. Pretty easy fight. The Banana rang is the only thing that will kill you. It goes out directly in front of him depending on which way he's facing when he starts casting it. If you can grab one of the little dolls that spawn in the area it gives you one of three really good buffs.

Close wow, delete your cache folder, and repeat. Respawn time is 25mins -1 hour.

Word of advice: if any hozen shamans add in, especially while Scritch is in Going Bananas mode and hopping all around the place, get rid of them as soon as possible. At first as my blood spec death knight, I was simply focusing on Scritch and just slowly taking down shamans that added in with blood boils and diseases. The shamans would keep healing Scritch massive amounts, so the fight was going on far longer than it should have been. Once I began to take out the shamans as soon as I could, the heals stopped coming. Also, I kept an eye on where he was hopping to, and if he got too far from me (he did reset in my first encounter), I used my death grip to bring him right back at me. Fighting him in his hut did not work well for me as I got stuck trying to back out to avoid one of his banarangs and died, so it was easier for me to take him on outside.

Look for Scritch in a cave at ground level around the dooker dome.
If you are a hunter, send your pet into the cave, then hit him at the cave entrance. This is how I downed him on my second try.

level 88 elite with just over 2 million health. Mostly remember to stun the going bananas if you can. Sidestep the banana boomerang and continue dps.

Pick up the lootable pots all around this site. They can give you huge buffs to dodge and also a long term stun that turns them into a ragdoll.

People debating whether to pull him out of cave or not. He's fine in the cave, just stay in the middle of it while he goes bananas, he tends to jump around the edges, not to the middle.

Also, if this isn't working for you, try moving towards the spot he was just standing, but keep moving towards his next spot or he'll eventually jump back to that spot.

As a bear druid the first tactic works fine for me most of the time, I'll get hit once or twice but it helps if I didn't get a stun off in time and now he's jumped behind me... Just claw and thrash AoE...

I just killed this guy after 3 tries , definitely keep any of your stun or rooting abilities ready for going bananas. Both failed attempts i had him down to 3% just to be killed by this with 100% health. As a death knight i used both chains of ice, and asphyxlate right before he started going bananas. After that it was an easy kill. I also kept him in the cave.

He did drop Hozen peace pipe on my first kill which made my 2 deaths worth it. Killed him on
