He doesn't hit very hard at all. As a level 27 druid in cat form he was only hitting me for 40 damage per hit. His fire spell is targeted at the ground, so you can avoid it by moving around.

I never knew that this rare mob existed, so naturally I didn't know that the helm existed either. Luckily it dropped. Quite a nice upgrade over my lack of a helmet! =)

Soloed him as a 28 draenei mage. He resisted a lot which made it difficult to keep distance from him. His fire spell brought my health down quite a bit so it's very important to avoid it if you are squishy like me. :P Had to use one healing pot. I also threw out a 'solid stone statue' (jewelcrafted combat pet that heals) at the end. (I had about 20% health left) But I probably didn't need it.

he looks hard to kill but you can get that mace for level 38 but its like 0.2 drop :P

I'm not sure if him and http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=4274 are related in some way, but i found it strange that they had almost exactly the same name. Does anyone happen to know..?

Although it says his flamespike does 70-80 dmg; it actually hit me for 152; didn't stay in the fire to check dot damage.

Took my Orc Hunter to Brightwood Grove to level up from 23 to 25. There are level 25-30 Alliance quests there for some fun PvP. Plenty of mobs on relatively quick respawn timers make for good grinding. I can skin 'em all. Until WotLK comes out, I still need to learn the next level of Howl from a trained beast, and the level 25 Black Ravager Mastiffs have it. If you get tired of the grind, you can fish just north of the grove. If you can manage to get to Desolace (or get lucky at the AH), you can get the Lean Wolf Flank recipe to grind cooking and maintain a steady +6 well fed buff.

And there's Fenros. I found him at level 24. He killed me in three straight fights, but I was so close each time that when I returned to Orgrimmar for the armor repairs (/frown - it's a long trip back and forth), I stopped in the AH for some elixirs and scrolls, got about 10 buffs on and tried a fourth time . . . for a mutual kill. W00t! That last blow just looked so cool watching us both go down. Ran back from the graveyard, rez and loot. Got the Ravenwood Bow instead of the Tribal Worg Helm I wanted . . . but dudes! I killed Fenros at level 24!

Here's my suggestions. There's a field just south of the Grove (just around the "point" from Darkshire) full of black wolfs (Black Mastiff types between levels 23-26). There's a path on the north/northeast side of the field heading up to Brightwood Grove. The path comes into the Grove about half way between two camps, one a little northish (I'll call it camp N), one a little southish (camp S) of the path's entrance. Camp N is Fenros' main stop, where he's got a little hut he'll hang out in for a bit before wandering. When he wanders out of Camp N, his first stop appears to be Camp S, then back north through the Grove where he touches the other camps and returns to Camp N for a bit.

If you just try to jump Fenros when you see him, it'll be tough to take him without pulling adds. Maybe when you're level 30ish, that's not a problem . . . but it killed me. However, between those two camps near the southern path into the Grove, there's a wide open field with a few Worgs of various types (caster and combat) between levels 26-29. Maybe more than a few Worgs, but they seem to be less densely packed than the groups of Worgs as you head further north into the Grove. And there are relatively few trees behind which you might miss a Worg you're trying to clear. Keep that space cleared and wait for Fenros to leave Camp N for Camp S. That should allow you to attack him with minimal risk of adds.

I was grinding exp since my girlfriend had alot more exp than me. I was killing one of those Nightbane Dark Runner. And then Fenros jumped on me. In this time I was a lvl 25 Druid in Catform and he was lvl 32 so I began to run away and prepared me for killing him but then a Nelf hunter showed up and took him from me :P But I was lucky, cause the hunter died and I got aggro while just had 300 hp left :D I killed him, got the head piece and the ressed the hunter and gave it to him :)
Well.. I'm not stupid, just kind :) Cause he did all the job while I got the exp ^^

Spotted him one day as i was doing a quest up in the area with my 26 warlock. It was long but I managed to kill him by having my voidwalker tank and health funneling and 2-3 attempts to apply a dot : (

He dropped the Ravenwood Bow for me, his loot wasn't really worth it, but i found it fun killing him : )

Spotted him while doing the worgen in the woods quest. I was a level 26 Nelf rogue w/ a few blues (mostly from deadmines) and it was not too bad. I say that, but I have the nature healing spell from herbalism and the +crit from skinning which helped. I had to heal myself to full health w/ the herbalism spell and pop a potion and use evasion but it was surprisingly easy. Just be sure and kick his junk when he's about to use the flame strike. Also, imo it's a good idea to use whatever DoT's you have if you are a lower level than he is b/c they are guaranteed hp decrease instead of melee damage that can miss or be parried or blocked or dodged.

He dropped the helm for me which will fetch some nice gold on the AH! Gold FTW!

Just soloed as a 27 feral druid in bear form.

Most of my attacks were almost fully resisted or dodged, since he's a 32. But it's possible, used the "Aquarius Belt" once, and just kept shifting into caster form for a regrowth.

Tip for Druids: Use Bash when he starts to cast Flamestrike

Not to state the obvious here, but if you have a hunter who can use the bow or a druid who can use the helm, neither is BoP, so you can always kill him with a high level alt and mail them over. Of course, you could do that and then be a capitalist pig and stick them on the AH for quick cash too...

Been farming this guy for awhile trying to get the Tribal Worg Helm, but he has dropped the bow 6 times in a row for me.
I keep a character parked in the spawn points above and just check in every 5 1/2 - 6 hours later. Posted spawn times seem correct. The bow drop rate seems to far exceed the helm, atleast in my experience so far. Happy hunting

Still around in Cataclysm. It appears he grants an abnormally high amount of experience - about 2.5k when I killed him as a Level 22 Feral Worgen Druid in Cat form.

He might be still around, but I am quite sure Bliz removed the Tribal Worg Helm from the loot list. :( My new hunter was very sad, killed him after a few failed search attempts, only to get a crappy green, not the bow or the desired Tribal Worg Helm. RIP dear helm, I will miss you. (Hate you sometimes Bliz).

After Cataclysm, he wanders Brightwood Grove, pausing briefly at 3 camps of Worgen. Make sure to check the entire area, not just the camps if looking for him.

On another note, I'd hate to be the guy he stole that outfit from.

Fenros does not count as a Nightbane Worgen for the "Worgen in the Woods" quest, despite being a worgen in the same woods
