Shadow Bolt: Inflicts 2,500 - 3000 Shadow damage, but Bronjahm will only cast this if the tank is out of melee range.
Magic's Bane: Bronjahm will spam this ability throughout the fight as this is his 'base attack'.
Corrupt Soul: This spell causes no damage, but lasts 4 seconds on a player. After 4 seconds a 'fragment of your soul' will spawn which will walk towards Bronjahm. If the soul is near him, he will be healed for a large amount.
Soulstorm: At 30% health, Bronjahm will teleport to the center of the room and begin channeling this spell. It will deal 1000 shadow damage (2500 on Heroic) a second and will slow your movement speed by 50% for the rest of the fight.
Fear: This will only be cast during Soulstorm.

Based on extensive testing, I've figured out the best way to defeat Bronjahm.

1. First, have your tank get on up.
2. Once he gets aggro, have your DPS get on the scene.
3. Then have your healer get on up.
4. Finally, take him down like a sex machine.

Im not sure what the rate is or if its a rare drop but when my guild was doing the reg instance, Bron dropped a epic 20 slog bag calld "Pa's New Bag" or something odd like that. If anyone has any info related it'd be cool to find out more.

We had an issue with Bronjahm teleporting to the middle while a soul fragment was still up, healing him up and basically guaranteeing a wipe. Watch his health - unless he just drained a soul, stop at 350k health and wait for a drain.

out of curiosity, is this the first black npc in the game? ^^;; i don't believe i have run into any npcs who had faces darker than an albino's butt in the last two years of playing, but i also can't remember what i ate for dinner, so that is not necessarily saying much XD

I didn't see any actual strats or detailed fights against him, so I'll list how my pug managed to down him after two wipes on heroic. Have everybody as close to him as they can get, even if they're a ranged class. Ranged characters should be at least 10 yards away, while melee should (obviously) stay within melee range. When Bronjahm starts casting Corrupt Soul on someone, have them run as far away from the boss as possible while the tank kites him in the opposite direction. Have all the dps classes burn down the Corrupted Soul Fragment, then switch back to Bronjahm after the fragment is down. Keep the dps and heals hot after Bronjahm hits 30%, and he will die after a few moments.

After having killed him a few times today both on Heroic and Normal (Yay for random dungeon tool ignoring lockouts), I can say that if your group is even half-decent, you can simply stand up close to him from the pull and just zerg him the f* down.. We didn't bother to kill the soul fragments at all, and it never seemed to really make a difference..

Makes him a whole lot easier, too.

When i saw his name tag <Godfather of souls> i thought he was a refrence of James Brown, but when i heard the sound vid of him, i thought he IS James Brown! specially the crit hit sound "woaaaah!"

Just a warning, be fearful if your party happens to have a couple casters in the mix, Magic's Bane HURTS and is gonna be cast quite frequently. Thankfully he tends to lack any prowess in taking out the melee.
Taken a place in my favourite bosses of all time, despite the god-awful magic's bane.

This one always gets me on the second phase, realy should run to the middle asap. and I seem to get this one every LFG I do.

The vortex can wipe you out in a few seconds so have to be aware of when it is coming.

You can prevent the Soul Fragments from spawning if you stop Bronjahm from finishing the cast. While the cast isn't interruptable, you can stop it by removing the debuff/channeling. I've tested this with Cloak of Shadows and Divine Shield, though Ice Block might work too. Possibly Feign Death and Vanish as well.

Is this boss just plain impossible for casters to beat on heroic? If there is no way to avoid magic's bane, every caster will go down in about 2 shots, including your healer. Tried facing him away, keeping him at the far end of the room, still get hit and destroyed in about 30 seconds.

Do I need to get a pack of rogues, death knights, and warriors to do this for me while I sit it out? Even so, how can you heal it?

Bronjahm is easily the hardest working man in the Scourge. He has to gather souls from countless innocents and not-so innocents, run incomprehensably huge Soul Grinders, grind said souls in said grinders... and maintain an epic set of instruments to play the awesome music you hear during his encounter. One can but wonder what kind of soul-tugging shows he puts up for the Lich King. Pun not intended.

Me, as a 79 holydin, a 78 tankadin and a 80 hunter (in blues and some BoE epics) killed this fellow with just us in the group. I didn't even notice the soul fragments when I ran this on my main (resto shaman), because the DPS would overwhelm the healing, I guess. They were a huge issue with only 3 in the group D:

For the most part, he was very mana intesive. Using shadow resistance aura helped cushion the shadow bolts and soulstorm damage.

Just putting this out there to let people know how easy this guy is to farm, if you want a free bag :O

If you are a warlock, I reccomend you place a Demonic Circle in the middle at the beggining of the fight. It helps alot when you are being feared into the whirlwind.

I make it a note to drop a snake trap on him whenever I fight him, solely for the purpose of getting him to sing more.

Same goes for any other boss with amusing "getting hit" sound effects.

As for today, 11/26/2010 , patch 4.0.3a, on heroic mode we got that boss as if it was the normal mode one, and it had 219 loot. He also had only about 500k HP
Last boss had 232 loot and acted like himself and had 900K HP

Seems to be bugged lately on Heroic. I've seen the 219 leather shoulder and 219 leather chest drop, when the Heroic version should be 232. Verified it was on heroic both times and 232 loot did drop from Devourer. Probably introduced in the 4.0.x patch cycle.

Attempted soloing heroic tonight on my 84 death knight, currently blood spec (35/3/2) w/ 90k HP

This fight goes pretty smooth for the first 60% dmg you do.

I kept my diseases up, anti-magic whenever he shadow bolted, and icebound fort when he switched to melee. Always keeping blood shield active w/ death strike and festering strike to keep diseases going, and of course runic strikes between all.

Pet + Death pact and Vampiric Blood was always saved for any oh sht moments

This fight would probably help if you we're spec'd w/ Lichborne as once you get him below 35% he starts the Soulstorm that reduces your movement and *!@#s your #$%^ up / 2 sec. Thing is, I died because he chain feared me through the soulstorm since I was his only target. I have blood worms and think my ghoul summon would have worked as an alternate target for him but i'm not sure if they were up.

He never casted Corrupt Soul, but then again, I kept him moving. Pulled him all around the outer area, then pulled him back towards the center when he was getting low %. If you pull him too far out, he'll reset.

All in all, got him to like 5%, so easily soloable @ 85 :) - hope this helped

I just soloed him on my Fury Warrior Item Level 352. The trinket "Fury of Angerforge" really helped. I don't think I could have done it without it. I wiped 4 times before I was able to down him. I just tried soloing this guy but he keeps healing himself back to max but he couldn't kill me or my pet so it was a very boring stalemate. After 10 or so minutes of wailing on him (to no avail) I exited the dungeon. There were times when my 'killshot' proc popped up but his health was still maxed out...? Anyone know if there is a special way of taking this guy down? I thought that he was healing himself by disconnecting my soul (or something to that effect), but can't tell since lag may be a factor. I don't have great gear but do hit for around 1300-DPS (according to my character window). I'll try to go back in an attempt feigning death to see if that helps. Thanks.

Easy solo with a blood DK ilvl 346. I went in prepared for the phases and strategies but it end up being just a tank and spank fight.

Use anti-magic shell on cooldown, Death Strike to heal yourself on CD as well, keep diseases up, preserve your ghoul for the last phase when he starts fearing you.

That's all. And I got 爸爸的新袋子 on the 2nd run :)

Solo'd Heroic Bronjahm as an 85 Demo Warlock (ilvl 371)...I used fel armor, felhunter, moonwell chalice, and a doomguard on the edge of the platform to burn him down to 30% quickly and prevent him from healing himself. (I had previously tried a slow burn with a voidwalker tank, but his health increases... very counterproductive!). As soon as Bronjahm attacked the felhunter, I ran to the center of the room and placed a demonic circle for phase 2. When the felhunter died, Bronjahm attacked the doomguard. At that point I popped meta, summoned another felhunter and continued. He feared me twice during phase 2; I teleported back to the center the first time, and ran back the second time. I had about 15% health when the boss died. The fight lasted a minute and a half.

Aside: it's fairly difficult to get past even the normal mobs en route to the boss. I recommend fearing one of the humans and popping meta + felstorm and dot all the casters, and be ready to use a Healthstone.

just tried to solo this guy we were going back and forth for 10 min b4 i gave up and harthstoned out used an 85 beast master hunter with a fire breathing core hound pet. the hunter may need 1 additional person to break the stalemate

Soloed as a spriest with 352 ilvl. I shielded every time it came off cd, popped fiend at the start and dotted (then was spamming Mind Spike and Mind Blast since I'd become used to my questing rotation, so don't do that lol) and used Dark Archangel. He was hitting enough that I had to heal a bit. P2 I used Fear Ward and that saved the first fear from landing, then just kept MS/MB like a noob, when I got low on mana I dispersed, which helped with the Soulstorm damage too. I had to spam Flash Heal at one point cos I was worried I was getting too low, ended up finishing on half health.

TL;DR Use dots >_<. If the Tower staff doesn't drop from the last boss this run, I'll come back and update with how it went with a proper rotation.

Edit: Trash was no problem, just shackled an undead per pack/pair just in case and took each mob down one by one.

Soloed as Blood DK, he feared me once before I took him down. If you have Cata LFR gear you should not have any issue. Anti-magic shell on CD and a ghoul out for good measure.

I just Solo-ed as an Arcane Mage 85 with pvp gear - key is to stay right close to him. Did mirror-image half way through, orb, spammed Arcane Blast. Took 5 times before I figured out to be right up close to him. Good Luck - mm-m-m

So, is this guy's theme jazz or rock? Anyway, I tend to dance in the middle of the fight. One, because I'm soloing him on heroic at level 100. Two, because why not?
