Currently there are 3 Lich King's in the Scarlet Enclave. The first can be seen on top of Ebon Hold when first starting your death knight. When you get the quest http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?quest=12778 he will 'move' to death's breach and gives you the quest to finish of the scarlet crusade http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?quest=12779(you won't be able to find him on Ebon Hold anymore). Afterwards you will be send to Browman Mill.http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?quest=12800 You will fight an epic battle http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?quest=12801(very fun to watch) and eventually an event will take place. At the end the Lich King will show up again.

In Warcraft 2, Ner'zhul was a crazy Ogremage, possessed by a rebel Legion Sorceror, who re-opened the Dark Portal, destroying Draenor, and killing himself. The spirit moved into a human in Warcraft 3, turning the human into an undead Necromancer, starting the Scourge. Frostmourne is actually separate from Ner'zhul's spirit itself. It was merely a tool of corruption. It wasn't until later that Ner'zhul actually possessed Arthas, becoming the Lich King. It's a really interesting story.

Ner'zhul was an Orc, and a Shaman, not an Ogre, nor a Mage ¬_¬

furthermore: he was anything but crazy, he was one of the single most intelligent Orcs to have ever lived by some accounts, considering he is the one who united the scattered clans and formed the very first Horde. Also, he was not possessed by any "rebel legion sorceror", he was tricked into making the first blood pact with the Legion, which then used thier newly aquired Horde to wage war on the Draenai ( Kil'Jaeden's revenge on Velen ). The key word here is tricked, not possessed, and tricked by Kil'Jaeden no less, not some "rebel sorceror".

even-further furthermore: the re-opening of the Dark Portal did not blow up Draenor, because, incase you didn't notice, in warcraft 2's expansion, when the portal was re-opened, we WENT INTO DRAENOR, it had not exploded. it was the opening of multiple other portals ( which you can find ingame as we speak in Nagrand, Zangarmarsh and a few other locations ) that caused too much stress to the planet and was the cause of it's implosion. Infact, a full TWO YEARS happened inbetween the events of Warcraft 2, and the destruction of Draenor.

even-further-than-that furthermore: Ner'zhul did not turn into a human necromancer, that is Kel'Thuzad and he is an entirely different character. Kel'Thuzad himself, has an evil soul, and it took little more than promise of power to convince him to serve the Lich King. Ner'Zhul did not brainwash him or possess him. Kel'Thuzad willingly serves the Lich King.

I-dont-know-if-this-is-possible-but-even-MORE-furthermore : the opening of the portals is not what killed him, because he's not dead...
Ner'zhul was caught in another dimension/world immedaitely after fleeing through one of his portals from Draenor ( it was this act, Ner'Zhul and his followers using the portal, that caused magical backlash and tore Draenor apart, forming Outland ), by Kil'Jaeden himself, and was tortured for his treason, his body was destroyed, and what was left of his soul was sent to to the Icecrown Glacier where it was bound to the Lich King armor, sealed within a massive block of glacial ice.

You are right about one thing, it is a very interesting story, it's just a shame you don't have a clue about it.

also jus another addition there is a quest in the game i read somewere that you have to go find what people are saying is arthes's heart but when you get it the guy examines it and says somthing like "arthes is no more" and some other stuff to say arthes is gone
