Near the end of the Second War, the black dragon Deathwing traveled through the Dark Portal to Draenor. Believing the world to be a relatively safe haven for his offspring, he secreted away a cache of black dragon eggs. Following the war, Ner’zhul recklessly opened multiple portals on Draenor, and the magical stress tore the planet apart. The energies released in this catastrophe altered Deathwing’s eggs, resulting in the nether drakes: partially corporeal and partially ethereal dragons who possess the ability to shift between the astral and physical planes. Without Deathwing’s guidance, these otherworldly nether drakes are just now finding their own way among the blasted ruins of Outland.

He is a Nether Dragon, and from what he says, he appears to be the first Nether Dragon in existence. The Dragon eggs in Shadowmoon became Nether Dragons, and the Dragon Eggs in Blade's Edge grew up to be normal Dragons.

I have looked high and low for information on where to buy more drakes. Many sources cite this guy yet he won't sell them to me. The correct vendor is Drake Dealer Hurlunk. He is on Netherwing Island in town.

If the color of his humanoid form reflects his actual dragon color like most dragons, he is a red netherdrake. I want one.

Hi, Perhaps you are here looking at Bathamus because you think he sells additional drakes. He does not, instead you should find this fellow: 龍之商人荷刃克 keep in mind you would still need to be exalted and have the Netherwing quest wrapped up, this NPC (Hurlunk) simply sells you additional colors. Hurlunk is within the Dragonmaw camp, a short walk to the north from the repair/armorer.
