road up & down the cliffs & didnt find him - came out to read these boards & windowed back to find him beating on me.

My loc was 64,30. Can't say I saw him spawn there but I didn't see him anywhere near me & in the time it took me to read this thread he was hitting me hehe.

Solo'd at 69 shad priest. He does hit pretty hard though (460 - 600'ish) for me as a clothie. I was able to just tank him with my shield a couple times & heals. Dotted & nuked him down. Did blow shadowfiend & mana pot,

Solo'd as a 63 feral druid. Only had to use Frenzied Regen, and bash once. No real problem.

I died earlier to him when he snuck up on me as I was fighting 2 warp stalkers. I almost had him after a long fight and the same 2 stalkers respawned. So I decided that even though I didn't have the quest, I needed to get revenge to show him who's boss.

He is easily soloable as a shaman if u have Earth Elemental totem. Killed with ease as a elemental shaman, the elemental can tank very well... use elemental mastery and just spammed lightning bolt/chain/earth shock. No idea if it is easy as a enhance or resto...

Also soloable as 65 prot warrior (sword+board).
Keep demo shout/thunderclap up.
Concusion blow and bandage when you get to 80%.
Keep chipping away in defensive, stack x5 sunder, spam devastate, shieldbash when available (mix some hs when you can).
Concuss and bandage again at 50%.
Repeat until you kill it. (~4min total, no pots used)

Just soloed this as a 66 resto shaman. I had no problems either, other than I got jumped by a couple adds during the fight. If that hadn't happened, it would have been a very easy fight.

Soloed as lvl 64 shadow priest with 431 spelldmg, +117 spell crit rating and 11mp5, 4.2k hp and 6.4k mana. So you should be able to do this to if your'a shadowpriest cause I only lost 10% hp and 30% mana...PS. dont stay shadowform the whole time, go out in the end to do a couple of flash heals/renew.

Barely soloed a sa 65 acrane/fire mage (42/14/0)
Had to use a mana pot+Flame Cap+Adept's Elixir and had 1% mana and hp when he was at 2% so i just kited him with Scorch xD

Im 63 demonlogy warlock, it was very Easy to solo. Health Funnel and dots = felguard 95% me 90%...Stonegazer 0% peace of cake

Soloed as Level 63 Shaman, was a bit hard.
Personally I had: 5400hp/3708mp/745AP/22,35% crit/2754 armor (without totems)

You can do it with this setup:
(take 1 potion with you, I personally had from a quest I did earlier with me)
1) Grace of Air Totem, Healing Stream Totem, Searing Totem, Stoneskin Totem.
2) 2x Windfury enchants on Dualwield (like I did :P)
3) Use Lighting Shield in the begining, and Water Shield later in the fight.
4) Pop Shamanistic Rage and trinket (or similar, if you don't have it).
5) Just nuke with Stormstrike and Earthshock.
6) On a certain point you need to cast 3-4 Lesser Healing Waves, then in the end use the potion.

You should be able to kill it, I personally didn't have luck with crits this fight, so I had to heal 3 times and use the potion to survive, barely with 200 hp.

Soloed as a 64 Combat Rogue. Open with a CS, blow your Bladefist's Breadth (hopefully you have it) then with about 1 sec left on the CS, blow your Charm of Alacrity (again, if you have it). Also, Blade Flurry wouldn't hurt to pop with the CS on. Time your Evasion to begin when the Charm wears off. Also, make sure you DON'T blow your AR too early. Save that for when Evasion wears off and you are low on CPs. Blow the right after you pop a 5 pt Evis so that you can get your CPs up for a KS to give you a chance to get more than half a bandage in. After all that, should be fairly easy to solo. I only have somewhere around 920 AP and 6k HP.

Solo'd with a 64 feral druid, started out in cat form with pounce and two shreds, but had to shift out and heal with him pounding on me since i couldn't hibernate because of the dots, so it's probably best to start out in bear form. Stun, enrage+frenzied regeneration, then after that I only had to shift out and heal once, pretty easy.

Killed him easily as a level 65 Undead Shadow Priest. I just kited him with Shield up constantly and keeping dots on him at all times. I even got an extra crocodile on me early on, but I just feared it every time it got to me. Also, Inner Focus + Devouring Plague helped me out a lot. I also got chance to stop and recast Vampiric Touch, and even got off a few Mind Blasts/Mind Flays.

Should be easy to solo as long as you keep him dotted and keep shield up at all times. Also, try to use the terrain to your advantage. Run around trees to screw up its path so you can get some breathing room.

Soloable for a 64 Prot Pally. Resisted my Hammer of Justice twice but is not immune. Got two adds, a wolf and a basilisk, and still scraped by with a couple heals. Dev Aura, judge and seal with light if you have to, pace it, and it's pretty easy. Not a quick fight, but not too difficult. :P

I finally encountered this big ol' red basilisk at 64,29 (right beside the river / waterfall) after running up and down amongst the green and purple basilisks for what seemed like an eternity. Couldn't manage to solo him as a 64 shadow priest, but might be able to do it with potions; he ended up 7k health each time.

He seems to be immune to Psychic Scream, which is a right pain.

I just did this solo at 66, ret pally. I had BoW up, and started off with judge > seal of crusader > keep up seal of vengeance so it can stack 5 times, I did that for about a minute, then I judged seal of wisdom to get some mana back and kept seal of vengeance of up again. I only potted once and he got me to low health but thats it. Pretty easy :)

just solo him as a lvl 63 combat rogue near the waterfall, got killed the two first times because of adds, at 3rd try i cleared a area started off with cheap shot and evasion built up 5 points did expose armor then turned on adrenaline rush and just spamed sinister strike until he droped, not that hard if u dont get adds

Easily Solo'd by a 66 Hunter.

As a Beast Master as soon I sent my pet in I used Beastial wrath and Kill Command, as my pets health got low I used Intimidation and healed my pet. He has quite a bit of health, but only took me about a minute or so to take him down. At a lower level I'd have to say bring a friend with you.

Also, you may die because of the other beasts roaming.

Soloed, L70 fire mage. Just found a spot that he'd walk to without mobs, and do what fire mages do well... Burned him down. Pyroblast, fireblast, scorch for the 5-stack fire thing... Just don't hold back, and he doesn't even need kited.

Hey, don't leave warriors outta this - it's very solo'able by a warrior too.

Did it at lvl 66 - Hybrid Arms/Fury Spec...fighting in Battle Stance with Retaliation. I have about 24% crit, using Axe of the Legion and Grunt's Waraxe.

This guy doesn't really hit hard. To make things easier, use Thunderclap + Demoralizing Shout. Use any sharpening stones, strength scrolls, etc. Bring a pot just in case. I was actually near death by the end with no pots nor scrolls in use...ended up @ about 630 hp 0.o' (closecall)

I just got jumped by this guy at 60% health on my 64 druid. No problem for a feral to solo. I started cat form and shifted out, potion, barkskin, heal, bearform untill I was at about 1.2k health, then repeat, no problems at all

Ye this one can be soloed as a warrior too.

I'm prot warrior lvl 64 and I had power word: fortitude +79 stamina though, and +20 str from a scroll. Used one potion and had about 500 hp after the fight. Might not have needed the potion though since didn't use either last stand or regal protectorate item (+900 health for 15sec).

much easier than i thot. 63 BM hunter and he never got my pet below 1/2 health. just keep mend pet on. he hits slow so mend pet can keep up. if he starts killing pet alot or does kill pet, just cc him and heal/revive. bird quest

Just soloed on a 64 shadow priest. Opened with Vampiric embarace, touch and shadow word pain, then mind flayed him. Spent the rest out of shadow form, in Power word Shield casting flash heals, greater heals and mind blast. Kept my dots on him and was able to finish him off, but just barely. No pots, though.

I (67lvl Shadow Priest) managed to kill Stonegazer by myself only by using Power Shield, Embrace, Touch, Pain, Mind Flay, Blast, Death, while in Shadowform.
After a while, my Shadowfiend helped me a bit. And before I know, I had killed him. I used Flash Heal only twice near the end. Easy..

As a 64 Enhancement Shaman I set up a totem park before the pull consiting of a Stoneskin, Grace of Air, Mana Spring. Drank up - buffed weapons with Windfury and Flametongue. Pulled, dropped searing.

His health dropped a little slower than mine, but a few lesser heals sufficed and he was killed.

He patrols along the edge of the world inbetween the Arrakoa Camp and the Firewing Base.

As a decent geared feral druid, this is rly easy.
I just pounce him, getting full combo and do Rake. Then I change to bear and he dies when I'm still at 70% hp.

Put down mana spring and grace of air totems, pulled him with lightning bolt then put down earth elemental totem. Let the elemental tank, healed it as needed and used searing totem just for some extra DPS. Not too bad really.

Soloed as a 65 mage... must be frost mage to do it + requires potions.

used 1 major healing potion and a mana ruby and soloed him.
I used arcane intellect and molten armor as well as Adept's Elixir I got from Zangarmarsh quest, + there are no hostile mobs around 60.0, 26.1, so I would pull aggro just after he crosses the river.
Do not use frost nova during this fight as he is immune and it is a waste of time.

Make sure Ice barrier is up
Pull aggro with arcane missiles and then summon water elemental. you can run from him and just use fire blast or arcane explosion for a few seconds, then ice block to drop aggro. he will move to your water elemental, so debuff iceblock and use cold snap, then use arcane missiles until the water elemental dies. Use potion any time after this. continue with fire blast and arcane explosion until he gets within melee range again. Then summon second water elemental and ice block to lose aggro. Debuff iceblock asap, use mana ruby and buff with mana shield and ice barrier. From here, if you timed ice blocks and cold snap right, you should be able to finish him with either arcane missiles or AoE.

DS/Ruin lock at 64 (not dmg buffed at the moment) with resto shaman completed very easily, didn't need much heals either. The problem was finding him though!

Being immune to Roots made him a bit tricky.

Had to get help to take him down as 65 Feral druid...he hit hard enough and and had enough health that i had to pop out once, and that was w/ a priest helping.

Took a while to find him, but he's the only reddish basilisk around.

Soloed today as a 63 Elemental Shaman. I used Elixir of the Sages and Adepts Elixir, and popped a Major Healing pot during combat. Use Elemental Mastery and start with a Chain Lightning. Move to Earth Shock and just cast through. I didn't pop either of my damage trinkets either. Make sure to keep up Water Shield unless you have a good mana pool with some mana regen. At 6.5k mana I didn't even get a low mana signal. I ended the fight with around 2.2k hp and 1750 mana.

Soloed as 65 shadowpriest, he walks kinda slow so you can just put up dots run mindblast, use pw:s and nuke him down. You can pre-shield yourself so you can use 2 shields after eachother which makes it realy easy (used no pots or anything).
Immune to fear.

Solo'ed as a 64 Swords Combat spec Rogue. Used deadly poison on both swords, drank an elixir of agility for the added agi+crit, and ended up using 1 health pot. Highly recommend starting off with cheap shot, 1 sinister strike, popping slice n dice, when he gets out of cheap shot use evasion and adrenaline rush go form there. Fairly easy with all cooldowns ready.

He is immune to Blind so don't bother trying to blind+bandage.

I soloed Stonegazer as a level 63 warlock (affliction spec) I used my fel armor, adept's elixir and managed to heal myself with death coil / siphon life and drain life. Void tanked the first 20 % and I ended up with 26 health left, so I was kinda lucky ^^

soloed as a 63 warrior, took a few tries but got just before he got me. buffed up strength before hand, then just pounded him for all i was worth. if you're questing solo, at least try fighting him once...you'll get a good idea whether or not you can do it...it's not as hard as it looks. try and get him somewhere fairly clear though...lots of other mobs around to join the scuffle

LOOT:
Chunk o' Basilisk - used to cook Blackened Basilisk, which is a cheap consumable to help people in the leveling process. Both cooking and "real" levels. :)

Dampscale Basilisk Eye - these eyes aren't used for cooking, but for quests. Completing Voren'thal's Visions by giving 8 of these eyes you'll get 11000 XP if you're at the right level range for the quest. Completing it you will get a followup quest, a repeatable, called More Basilisk Eyes, this will not give you any XP - it will grant you reputation to the Scryers (+250 per turn-in) whilst decreasing your reputation with Aldor (-275 per turn-in) - these eyes were worth ~1 gold each before the arrival of Wrath of the Lich King - now their sellvalue has decreased as only achievement-hunters are hungering for them.

You're going to need 1344 of these to get Neutral with Scryers.

36000 (Hated) + 3000 (Hostile) + 3000 (Unfriendly) / 250 rep (per turn in) = 168 turn ins of 8 eyes each time. Prepare for some serious grinding and ask friends/guildmates for help.

Before the switch, I recommend saving up these eyes and higher level scryer turn in items (Firewing and Sunfury Signets, Arcane Tomes) so you can still use the benefits of Aldor shoulder enchants in case you replace gear.

Stonegazer's Blood: you will need to loot Stonegazer's Blood in the quest "A Cure for Zahlia" - read the rest of the comments for more information about this one.

SKINNING:
These guys yield 5 different kinds of leather - heres a list for you:
Knothide Leather Scraps (5x = 1x Knothide Leather)
Fel Scales
Knothide Leather
Crystal Infused Leather
Nether Residue

ABILITIES:
Glare is a 2 second cast stun ability special to the basilisk in the Terokkar Forest-zone, it will make you freeze for 6 seconds during which you cannot move or attack.

It is a spell from the arcane school of magic, therefore resistable as other schools of magic are too. It comes with a 45 second cooldown, so you'll be glared most likely only once/zero times per combat.

Tip: the cast is only a meleerange ability - it will cast it for 2 seconds, and it can't move while casting - take a step back and the spell will FAIL! Casters wont have to do it on purpose, as they'll keep the range in any case anyways, right casters? Good job.

Managed to solo him as a frost mage the trick i used was to put my water elemental on stay then i ran abit of a distance had my elemental attack stonegazer once it got to my pet i unloaded it on then he had to turn and run all the way to me once he ate through my sheild i iceblocked let him run all the way back to my water elemental and repeated.

Wheeee! I had fun with this guy. Soloed as a 66 kitty druid. Kill the rest of the mobs around him, throw up Rejuv and Regrowth, switch into kitty form, don't have to stealth but it's better if you do. Faerie Fire Feral, Maglespam, and Rip when necessary. I found Rip better because Ferocious Bite just does raw damage and bleed seemed to do more.....

Also burned Bladefist's Breadth, and Charm of Alacrity. And burned Barkskin because I somehow aggroed another Basilisk >_<

Easily soloed as a 62 warrior, used a healing potion just to make sure, and buff food, but otherwise, nothing special. Maybe 1/3 blue items, 2/3 greens, was pretty easy though. But Bloodthirst was really useful, focused on Bloodthirst and then Cleave, then repeat as necessary, and of course anything else that showed up as a special move.

Stonegazer has a respawn time around 10 minutes. I killed him for my quest and waited for him to respawn, to see how long it would take. He patrols the whole ridge but spawns at 64, 29
