Tank and spank fight, but watch out for his totems. Assign 1 person to be on totem stoping duty.

Totems:
1.) Earthbind: AE root.
2.) Nova: after a few seconds deals AE damage. Kill it ASAP
3.) Healing Ward: Heals about 3-5% of his hp a tick. Kill it ASAP.
4.) Stoneskin: Reduces melee damage done to him.

Done this fight on Heroic mode last night. It's pretty much the same as it was before in terms of technicalities, just have to watch out for the Fire Nova totems which inflicts around 6000 fire damage on the people it hits now.

Other than that, he doesn't hit the tank very hard; especially not in comparison with the trash mobs in the instance, and people hit by the Nova can be patched up without putting too much stress on MT healing.

He has a fairly large HP pool, which will drag the fight out a little, but just make sure that you take out the Healing Ward totems and he'll fall eventually.

As one of the posters correctly pointed out, it is the trash in these instances which on Heroic setting is less forgiving. The bosses especially here in Slave Pens we all did on 1st take last night.

One thing to note about his fire totem though - the boss only has slightly over 8k mana so it takes a short time to drain/burn it if you can spare a person for this task. This prevented him from casting the fire totems.

Heroic mode:

DO NOT DPS the fire totem.... period. It has about 10 seconds till it goes off. Have the tank simply move him about 15 yards away from it and let the fire totem explode. If you are DPS'ing the fire totem you'll find people die and this encounter is pretty hard. Otherwise I've had one instance when it was 3 manned, mage, prot warrior, holy pally.

Real easy fight if you punish those totems.

I usually MT but since the OT (64 pally) only had a slow 2h I OT, dualwielding, and focused on the totems. When no totems were up, I dps'ed him ftw.

So, not a biggie as long as you spank those totems as stated above.

Ive found that if u have anyone who can drain mana, do it. Cause when he is out of mana....he caught throw totems

As the article above says, this is an endurance battle as Mennu has 77k health (Normal mode). We did this with a Protection Paladin tanking, a feral druid dpsing and a Holy paladin healing. The most crucial aspect of the battle is taking down and keeping him and party members out of range of his totems. The earthgrab totem isn't a huge deal, but the healing ward heals him significantly if allowed to stand, which makes a long fight even longer (a dps can keep watch for the earthgrab and healing totems and take them down asap). The Corrupted Fire Nova totem hits for 2-2.5k to anyone within its range either on a timeout or knockdown. We just pulled him into the nearest hallway and the tank pulled him back and forth as and when he dropped the nova totem. It wasn't 100% crucial that no one take that hit, but made it a LOT easier on the healer and her mana store to not have to heal us through an extra 2k damage.

We have faced him 6 times for the Spellfire Longsword, and of course everything else dropped!
Princely Reign Leggings and Wastewalker Shiv dropped once, and the Tracker's Belt and Vest of Living Lightening dropped twice each, respectively.

I don't see this mentioned by any other comment here, so I'll go ahead and throw it in. The stoneskin totem does not work like normal Shaman Stoneskin, at least it did not on the Heroic mode Slave Pens run I just went on. It seemed to also be reducing all the spell damage he took as well. I'm not sure if Normal mode version works the same way. It's not a very big deal since the totem should just be killed ASAP anyways, but I thought some people might find this to be extra motivation for knocking it out a little faster on at least Heroic mode.

Funny fact about this guy is that he drops a nice enhancement shammy belt in both normal AND heroic, though the heroic belt is just slightly better than the normal...

Notes for SOLO at 70:
I (feral druid) killed him, 15 minutes of fighting in which I could have done much better. Me:
~80k damage in
~200k damage out

1- Clear the mobs at the bottom of the ramp.
2- He can be kited (you should have boar's speed or cat's swiftness on your feet anyway ;)).
3- If you go up the ramp you can drop from the middle of the ramp without taking fall damage and use that time to bandage/heal.
4- You can charge/intercept the totems from a distance to gain distance on him and, again, use the time to heal.
5- Hearthen elixir seemed to work great.
6- A macro that might be useful (and work) to destroy the totems:
/target tainted
/target mennu's
7- I couldn't avoid his lightning bolt thing but others may have better luck.
When he started casting the lightning bolt I'd cast regrowth on me.

This fight is incredible simple. This is what I consider the best tactic:
A. Get a rogue or other melee class to kill the totems he drops.
I. Don't attack the Fire Nova, just move away.
B. He hits like a wimp, so the healing is easy, unless the fire novas are hit or the tank doesn't move away from them.
I. Just tank and spank, my healer actually helps DPS on him :-)

Don't know if anyone else encountered this, but when my group took him down I used my Priest's Mana Burn to kill off his mana. After doing this I noticed something interesting, His mana regen rate is incredibly poor. I Burned him down to zero mana and he was regenerating 2, maybe 3, mana every 5 seconds. Suffice to say it made the fight incredibly easy since he could no longer drop any totems. Anyone want to verify if this was just random luck or if he really has horrific mana regen?

(This was on Heroic Difficulty with a group setup of Warrior (Tank), Dps Feral Druid, Priest (Me), Priest (Healer), Warlock)

Solo'd as a 70 mage on heroic mode.

He's quite easy and it's a matter of outlasting his mana, unless you want to be extremely vigilant about killing his healing totems.

I used mana pots, but it's definitely doable without them.

i changeed a little totem destroyding macro to make this. Works good just not sure how this works on Corrupted Fire Nova Totem for other totems it is great.
p.s. other clases can change Moonfire with some other rank 1 instant cast spell

I two maned this fellow as a *well geared* 70 Fury warrior, with a prot pally healing. I was controlling both characters, basically just spamming Holy Light on my pally, staying in battle stance, killing totems as they spawned, and using spell reflection on all his Lightning Bolts. Took a bit of time, but wasn't very difficult, I don't think my pally ever went under 60% mana.

I tried to solo this guy on heroic with my level 70 hunter using the ledge. He used to have a strange path and that way you could just kite him around without getting hit.

But is seems they have change the path, he just walked off the ledge for some strange reason.

Anybody got the same problem?

Soloed(on heroic) with a level 80 protection warrior. 23K armor, 25K health unbuffed. Had to pop last stand right at the end but I got it done.

Soloed on heroic as a level 80 feral druid tank. Extremely easy, spam mangle and keep lacerate, FF, and demoralizing roar up. When you hear the sound of a totem being dropped, check to see what it is. Kite him away from a fire nova totem, but swipe/autoattack the other totems.

You'll probably have no need for cooldowns, but in case you do, there's no "best time" to activate them. Just use them whenever you need them.

For those that are high level (preferrably around level 80). I found this mob very easy to level weapon skill on.

He drops healing totems and stoneskin totems. So basically you can never kill him with auto swings. Heck he is a chore to take down when you are down right serious cuz of his constant totem drops and 77k health. This mob is an ideal candidate for weapon skill level up!

The best class to do this is Pallys, DK's, Shamans etc. any class that you can occasionally heal yourself. If you get a bit low on health just heal. He hits for 250 a swing on plate. Rogues, I think he is immune to blind and such so bandaging might be a task for you if you get low on health. He is immune to certain stuns too which also makes him harder on rogues.

Pallys (hint), buff youself with sheath of light, you will heal most of his swings. Flash of light and Divine plea every now and then and this guy is nothing. I literally fixed myself a sandwich, ate, watched TV for 30 minutes and he barely took me below 80% health.

So far this is the only guy I have found to level up weapon skill on my Pally.

this guy is quite a challenge if you want to solo the instance. took me a while to beat him as a lvl 80 ret pally with mediocre gear

Very easy Boss. I can solo him. No particularly dangerous abilities, just be careful tat he dosen't pull the group at the end of the ramp to you.

He is the evil guy who betrayed the draenai to the naga.

in my experience farming this boss for the Spellfire Longsword i must have killed him about 20 times or more until it dropped, i honestly think its a lower droprate that mentioned but if u want it be prepared for a long farm

I do a lot of solo dungeons. Started when I was about lvl 65 w/Blackrock Detention. Anyway with patience you can watch the trash mobs routes and run thru w/out aggroing any and dont worry bout the slaves unless you actually run thru 1. They pull w/mobs but when mob dies they head 4 home. And the mobs at the bottom of the ramp dont aggro if you come at an angle and follow him up and charge him there. Now, this guy was a very tough scrap for a 72 Night Elf Warrior solo. Killed me 2 times. 1st I was at eye lvl n didnt see the totem behind sprout w/heals. Thot it was gonna be a slam n all of a sud he shows 40% health again. 2d finally noticed his immune to concusion/stun n disarm n Intimidating shout too late to help my own health prob. 3d times the charm tho so I scope him from slighty overhead, hit charge n it was on. 1st hit w/devistate, revenge n shield slam. His tote sprouts so I change target to tote n its n easy 1 swing n back to smiley. The best dps mode I have is w/revenge, devistate, shield slam n heroic strike. The most important thing tho is do the totes fast or its nini. Its a long n pretty cool fight tho n very rewarding (for my own ego) when he does flop. Punch yer adds just before you charge n doit thruout if u can...if yer solo you'll need evry ting yu got cause he has MASS health n tote heals if you dont hit em fast nuff. Was gonna pass after he got me the 2d time but aft lookin atda map again...if he dont go the rest cant be got to. His path is up and down the only ramp to the others. So noticing all the other notes b4 mine I feel pumped...Did the Slave pens solo but if you try it plan on at least 3 hours and if you get miffed about bein killed by these bosses, plan on at least 5 dies but at least they dont respawn n you can go get repair at your leisure. The drops r of course, for a solo, epic but below my lvl but made real good G atda AH. Now it wud be perf if i could get a pet that healed. In the end IT IS A POSSIBLE SOLO BELOW 80. Just dont dawdle during the scraps and be PATIENT n scope the trash mobs paths n runthru em if you can so you dont get to a boss with damaged armor. Peace :)
