kinda hard raids boss.
the stun is really annoying and is hard while lots of allys attack you from all directions.
did a guild run with 10 guildies and like 20-30 randoms and we downed darnassus and exodar but stopped on stormwind.
right now preparing for a raid on this guy.
btw there is a rumor that main faction leaders give 16k honor is it true ?

Doesnt sound true. Total War on Haomarush has downed every Alliance boss and it they did give that honor alot of honor grinds would have been easier. Anyway this boss is about good healers. If you can pull with just him and then start slamming him he is easy. Got 20 manned its just a matter of having good healers and quick dps

See I hate the bull HP scales the post on this site. Bolvar at 25,000? I've healed him for 14000 with a LoH and his health bar hardly moved. not to mention he gets he for 700-1400 like 6x every 2.6 seconds. thats 4200-7000 damage every 3 seconds pretty much.

Bolvar has like 1,700,000HP and they're giving HP scalings of 7000 or some crap on Khadgar, you can't even fight him how would they know, oh and like 42,000 on king Magni when it's known he has about 600,000HP I wish Wow head wouldn't post BS HP scales. If they fought but HP meter was flipping back and forth estimate, but don't post complete bs.

And I think he use to give that honor back in beta

he got a retribution buff. it hits for 200 per time now. plus i think he actually heals himself now.

we jumped in when the dragons were chopping him. they ticked him to about 75%

The main problem with him is not that he is hard, he don't have much in term of damage spells really (just cleave and normal hits), but rather the 30-80 alliance players in the back room, which is a major problem in crowded servers.

I heard that his stun is called "High Lord's Justice" and will affect the whole raid. I never knew that he healed every 5 minutes, I've seen a video where a guild called Los Banditos Locos downed him (and most other alliance bosses for that matter) and he never healed, or stunned, once.

killed him last night, as with every other alliance faction leader after our instance servers crashed.. so we took our TK raid to ally leaders and served them some tauren sandwich.

Ideal strat for this would be

Have a protection paladin on add controll tanking all guards near the entrance to the hall and warlocks using SoC on him

then as your running up have your main tank ie: warrior/bear druid stand in the hall to the left (just in the doorway because if you go to far up that hall he both evade bugs and spawns heaps of guards

seeing as your tank is there ready to tank the boss get your ranged dps to take down the named npcs next to him (with your prot pally still picking up the guards) once all the named npcs are down get a misdirect on your main tank to Highlord Bolvar Fordragon and have him pick it up

he heals every once and a while.. this is like a mini enrage timer though

the hardest part of this fight when you tank him in the doorway is to have half of your ranged dps in the hall at MAX RANGE (so they dont take the stun) and nuke the boss after your tank has steady aggro of it

and the other half of your ranged dps on what we call gnome duty, which is to snap any alliance that tries to interfere

fight takes about 5 minutes and is really easy for a raid in T5 :P

As Varian Wrynn is shown in the comic to be making his way home from Kalimdor, he will likely free Bolvar from his commitments as regent. This would be a logical step, as Wrynn will reportedly be taking a larger role in Azeroth, and is even said by Blizzard to perhaps become the Aliiance's Thrall equivalent. We can thus conclude that Bolvar will be able to journey to Northrend himself.

well we downed him yesterday with 2 (almost) full raidgroups and our group didnt tag him so we killed him but got nothing...
so im still really curious what is the real price of swatting him...
do we get 15k honour? 2k+ gold? Otherwise it's NOT worth the trip...

btw beating him and getting nothing really sucks...

who Saurfang attacks and gets killed and has his soul stolen

I believe Saurfang the younger is not lost yet, he can still be saved because of this. If the Lich king decided to resurrect Saurfang as a Death Knight, he might be able to come back to the horde, but as a Death Knight of course. As for Bolvar, I believe he is permanently lost, and the Alliance will jsut have to deal with the loss of a great Alliance hero.

He's in a few scripted events. He has at least two in Stormwind, and three in Northrend.
With Northrend, it depends what "phase" you're in for dragonblight, and he's no longer in Stormwind at all.

He is no longer in the throne room in Stormwind,
Nor is the WOTLK lead up with the scourge invading stormwind still happening (nor will it ever happen again)

After the Wrathgate event, there is a certain conversation between Alexstrasza and Korialstrasz.

Korialstrasz says: My Queen, do they know?
Alexstrasza the Life-Binder says: No, my beloved.
Alexstrasza the Life-Binder says: Ashj zila gul kirasath lok ante il lok buras danashj Gul gul
Korialstrasz nods.
Korialstrasz says: They will not.
Alexstrasza whispers: Come to me, <name>.

But due to a bug, some players can speak Dragonic and it is confirmed that Alexstrasza actually says

Alexstrasza: They must not discover the fate of the young paladin. Not yet.

The "young paladin" probably refers to Bolvar Fordragon and thus, we can assume he's still alive. This is still only speculation.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Gryphon##DELIM##

Scene for Wrathgate, cloudy and dark.
Fire creates light.
Unfortunately, that glow you see might just be light from the fire, there is also ash drifting up into the air too if you look carefully.
So, hopefully, he was saved by the cleansing fires of the dragons. What happens next is unknown.
... or its just fire. The fire fueled by burning paladin corpse. A paladin I really liked.
Here's hoping for the 'Not-dead' option.

This is just a theory on my part, but I think his title of "Highlord" might actually be a military rank of sorts, possibly the next step after grand marshal. Highlord could actually be the equivalent of the real life General Of The Army, meaning he leads Stormwind's army (it might actually be more correct to say he lead Stormwind's entire military though).

In a sense, the highlord rank is probably inferior to both a Grand Admiral and Supreme Commander; a Grand Admiral would lead the Alliances' navy and a Supreme Commander would lead the Alliances' armies.

He also technically holds the regent lord title, a human, dwarven and highelven/bloodelven title given to a temporary leader to rule in the absence or inability of the monarch at the time.

*MINOR SPOILER*

With Varian's return hes no longer a regent lord, but still holds the highlord title. With Bolvars death we have yet to see who our next highlord will be, although I guess thats not for us to worry about.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Gryphon##DELIM##

After the first defeat of the Lich King in Icecrown Citadel, new statues are added to the central water fountain in Dalaran. There you can click on part of the new edifice and watch a video showing the aftermath of his defeat.

Hardly a spoiler any longer. (Of course, any one using Wowhead is spoiling one aspect of the game or another.)

Highlord Bolvar Fordragon was a venerated warrior of the Alliance and served as the Regent of Stormwind following the disappearance of King Varian Wrynn. After the treachery of Grand Apothecary Putress at the Battle of Angrathar the Wrathgate, Fordragon was believed to have been killed, either by the Forsaken Blight or the fires of the red dragonflight.

However, Fordragon survived, his body altered by the dragons' flame, and was tortured by the Lich King in an attempt to break him to his will. However, the noble spirit of Fordragon resisted the Lich King's deprevations. After the death of Arthas Menethil, the mortal host of the Lich King, Fordragon demanded that Tirion Fordring place the Helm of Domination, containing all of the powers of the Scourge, on his head, so that he would forever be the jailer of the damned - imprisoning the Lich King within the Frozen Throne once more and containing the threat of the Scourge.

Funny thing is, there was a dragon in Spyro the Dragon (the first one in the series) with the name of Bolvar. Wonder would've happen to SW and whatnot if Spyro hadn't come along.

He's a hunter, you can tell by the Feign Death he does and that immolation trap he put on himself for the looks.

Considering he's not the SW leader anymore, this info is outdated and pretty much useless, but I figured I would say it anyway, if only for historical purposes.

From what I found, back when he was the SW faction leader, he was probably the most difficult boss (At least Alli) to defeat. Back then, the only entrance to SW was the front gate meaning the Horde had to run through, or make a warlock filled with soul shards (Keep in mind back then, 1 summon = one shard) and a few others go in to one of the hidden rooms on the side ahead of time.

The next part that made him difficult is that all the BG masters were behind him (Keep in mind this was back when you had to que from the BG masters), so there would be a fair amount of players, a lot of which were PvPers.

And third, as far as faction leaders go, he was one of the tougher ones, boasting a cleave and shield block (Or was it wall?), as well as a ret aura and the ability to self heal, top that off with an AOE stun which made it easy for players to wreck you.

No Horde raids on my server were ever able to kill him, but then again, my server has a ton of terrible players (Blade's Edge).

In case anyone wants to know what he's wearing (RP purposes, transmogrification, just looking fancy or to leave them to collect dust in your bank, whatever the reason), I've managed to put together what I believe is the closest look-alike set there it. Note that there's a mix of cloth, mail and plate, so if you're going for a mog... Sorry.

Belt: 帝國鎧甲腰帶
Shirt: 金黃鑲鈿窄衣

Was affected by a spell, placed by Onyxia herself so he'd be somewhat mindcontrolled. When the spell broke, he'd fight along side you (and your group), when the royal guard turns to their true dragonic appearance. He could basically solo the whole event-thing, if I recall correctly.
