If for whatever reason you don't want to go the level 1 pet route, an easy two-pet strat I've used is:

Boneshard: any, 1, any
Ikky: any, 1, 1
Direbeak Hatchling: Anything that deals immediate damage like Predatory Strike, as this is just a backstop against the rare chance you need to finish off a sliver of health.

Open with Blistering Cold
(You're hit with Mind Games)
Choose option 3 ("Lock out ability slots 1 and 2 for 9 rounds") OR just pass until Mind Games expires
Switch to Ikky
Black Claw
Flock

Ikky may, rarely, die, but the combination of Blistering Cold and Ikky's debuffs should still finish him off.

Creepy Critters

This might be a bit of RNG due to Call Darkness. I only needed one attack with the Dust Bunny to finish off Wretch. Still lots of room for some error. I only ran this once, so may have gotten lucky.

Trashy Family Reunion, Counterstike, Dumpster Dive
Blind Rat Sneak Attack, Crouch, Call Darkness
Dust Bunny Flurry, Dodge, Burrow

Trashy
Dumpster Dive (Got lucky and mind games missed because I was unattackable)

Family Reunion (Trashy dies 2 passes into Family Reunion)

Call Darkness (Wretch missed Bite here)
Crouch
Sneak Attack
Mind Games Mechanic (selected 1 for 25% damage to team)
Sneak Attack (Wretch landed feed here but only got 161 hp back)
Sneak Attack (Blind Rat dies here - Wretch was at like 350 HP)

Dust Bunny
Burrow (Wretch dies here - Dust Bunny was at like 75% HP)

If you have a mechanical pet you can absolutely wreck this dude in one try. Double or even triple up on him and watch him melt :)

I found I only needed Specimen 97 to defeat Wretch.
Best to use this strategy:
Burrow (Avoids Mind games)
Crouch
Batter -4 times (avoid using Burrow for one extra round after cool down)
Specimen 97 dies and comes back
Burrow (Avoids Mind games)
Wretch dies

In my battle with Addius today I noticed that the Mind Games attack may be random...you don't know what the attack will be, I guess? Today it was replaced with 背水一戰, but maybe there's a list of other attacks it could be.

It's an easy fight anyway, but it's a fun wrinkle and I haven't found anyone talking about it.

This pet may be glitched. I noticed on several battles while trying to gather all the single pet family achievements that this pet will sometimes be attacked three times in a row unprompted. Based on his abilities and your choices during mind games, this could happen if you are stunned for five rounds, but I never chose that option. I have only noticed it using pets with arcane attacks.
