As an FYI, if you hate Void Torrent as much as I do, you can hide behind the tree to avoid it. Alternatively, if you're a rogue, you can Cloak through one cast (which immediately ends the cast for some reason), but unless you can burst him down, he'll cast a second one before your Cloak cd is up.

Another way to avoid the void torrent mechanics is to stand right in the middle of his hitbox. This isn't always available, but it beats the alternative for the melee class.

If you stand exactly inside his hitbox circle, you can avoid his ability completely and still hit him while he is channeling.

POV: You're here because after 5 years Blizzard still did nothing to make this guy any less miserable (and unfair) for melee. The other comments from 5 years ago have the right idea! Stand inside his hitbox! Blizzard clearly didn't change much in the time passed between OG Visions and today 😂
