I have killed approximately 50 of these and the Wayward Algans for 3 days running now to attempt to determine how their loot table works, and they seem to have some sort of cap on them. It seems after looting either Manapearls from them for the day (each being a unique hidden quest for Lost and Warward) it will lock you out of further pearls, or there is a flat # cap, but at some point these WILL start dropping nothing but the grey Blemished Pearl item. Based on my testing thus far, I would say it is most likely you may receive pearls from each of them once per day, whether this was a stealth hotfix or not I am not sure, but it seems to be the function now.

It heals itself with Algal Bloom. Interrupt this cast if you don't want to spend a long time fighting it.

Killing both 迷失的海藻團 and 固執的海藻團 have a chance to rarely spawn a 岩藻跛行者.

I've come to the conclusion that these guys either have an extremely small drop chance for pearls, or you can only loot pearls from them once a day. I have spent the last 2 hours farming them (And farming a ton of herbs) and they only dropped pearls one time. I've killed at least 100 of them in the 2 hours I've spent flying around their spawn locations. Maybe they were dropping a bunch before, Blizzard must have put in a hotfix on them. All I'm getting now are gray trash items.

GG guys, no more algan farming. It now has a loot cd, reset daily. Killed 7 of them, only the 1st time got "good" loot.

This mob and another one called Wayward Algan have a chance to drop Mana Pearls(Lost Algan gives 3, Wayward gives 2) and 1 Benthic Item each day.
Its not guranteed to get it on the first kill everyday so you might need to kill multiple to get your pearls and benthic for the day

There is a 3rd Version of this mob called Disturbed Algan that only spawns as part of a Daily Quest called Plug the Geysers, loot lockout is the same for this mob

They can only drop pearls once per day. When you get pearls from a Lost Algan, it triggers a hidden daily tracking quest with ID 56916. You can check whether or not you've done it with this script: /dump IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(56916)

Note that Wayward Algans trigger a different hidden tracking quest, so you can get pearls once per day from both.

If you are trying to farm them, it isn't the best macro and I'm sure there's a better macro out there but this is the one I use to farm them while flying around:

/target lost
/target Wayward
/tar Rockweed Shambler

If you hit the button multiple times while flying around and there's one in range, it will target it and will show it on your mini map of its location. Hope that helps!

The drop rate on Prismatic Manapearls is worse than I thought. I've killed about 40 and only got 7 so far.

You can add this to RareScanner for when you're flying around Nazjatar.

Settings -> Interface -> AddOns -> RareScanner -> Custom NPCs

Then add both ID #151166 and #152549 for Wayward Algan and Lost Algan, the two which will help spawn the Rockweed Shambler.
