Ranja is a very cool looking, all white rare Bear found in Tiragarde Sound at approximately 68,64 atop a small rocky mound. Not only does it look really nice because it's an all-white bear, but it's got a seriously mean look on its face. Very easy to kill solo, as most rares are. I'm playing on my hunter while typing this, and I'm always curious about which mobs can be tamed and which mobs can't, so I dismissed my wolf and set the ice trap to give it a try. I honestly thought I wouldn't be able to tame it, but to my delighted surprise, you can tame it!

I was looking at the spells for the pet, and one of them is called "Rest" (I looked for it on wowhead so I could link it, but I couldn't find the right spell... if someone finds it, feel free to comment with the ID and I'll fix it!). When you command your pet Ranja to Rest, it kinda falls over and goes to sleep- you know, as a bear does. It's cute! I don't know if other pets have this ability, but I assumed it was unique because as you come up to the rare, it's asleep with the green floating ZZzZzzzZZz's, and those show up when you command the pet to Rest.

Anyway, I just wanted to let folks know that this rare bear is, indeed, able to be tamed as of the writing of this post. Of course, Blizzard likes to take away all the things we find fun in this game (like the oil-stained wolf from Wrath. RIP Oil-Stained Wolf), so be sure to go tame this pet while you can!

I found him today at 68.32, 63.36 and tamed him without any problems. I only used the ice trap and tame and then he was mine. : )

Am I the only one who feels sad killing this guy? Something about "The Last Chillpaw" because it means when you kill him, the Chillpaw are extinct :(

This may just be subjective, but this bear pet seems to attack and fetch much faster than other bear pets and also responds to the fetch command more reliably compared to Osca the Bloodied.
