Avatar of Xolotal is a reference to the dog breed, xoloitzcuintli. The xolo is one of the oldest breeds native to the Americas and it was believed by the Aztecs that this breed would guide the deceased safely through the afterlife. The breed was named after the Aztec god, Xolotl, who appeared with dog-like features, and was associated with lightning and death. Xolotl was tasked with guarding the sun as it traveled through the afterlife each night. The name "xoloitzcuintli" can be broken down into two parts "xolo," in reference to Xolotl, and "itzcuintli," translating directly into "dog."

The Zandalari clearly have some Aztec influence, and this mob is just one tribute to that.

Unfortunately the model of this mob isn't very accurate, as xoloitzcuintli are typically a hairless breed, though a coated variety does exist. Still, it is a beautiful model, which, unfortunately is NOT tameable.

I just used Beast Lore on him, and sadly, he cannot be tamed. Sad times.

Soloed as 120 feral druid. The guards to his cave hit harder than him...

He has 259k health at level 120. His melee attacks deal 2.4k to 3.1k physical damage.

I noticed three abilities that he uses:
1) Ferocious Bite: similar to the feral druid ability, on hit physical damage; deals 5.3k to 6.1k damage
2) Call Thunder: he channels this ability for a few seconds, spawning blue swirls on the ground around him where lightning will crash about a second later. Each bolt deals 3.1k to 3.6k nature damage. Easy to dodge. Cannot be interrupted (maybe if he's displaced?)
3) Arc Lightning: simple lightning bolt spell; deals 4.6k nature damage. Interruptible.

He's in a cave thats pretty close to Warport Rastari. There are two wolf guards outside of the cave that are pretty hard to solo if you aggro them both at the same time, so try to pick off one at a time. Cave entrance is at 49.59, 59.12.

TomTom seems to occasionally bug in the BfA zones right now, so unfortunately to be given the correct coordinates in TomTom you'll have to actually be in Zuldazar when you type the waypoint command in.

Hmm I must be doing something wrong :(
I'm at the cave entrance and walk in, after a few steps I get teleported back to the road. Tried it several times, every time tp to road. What am I doing wrong?

I came here trying to determine if 梭羅塔爾的化身 was going to be soloable, which I questioned because the two guards in front of the cave entrance (called Son of Xolotal** 梭羅塔爾之子) seemed to take quite a while to kill for a non-elite/non-rare mob. The rare itself is, indeed, very easily soloable.

One of the things I wanted to point out was that during the fight with 梭羅塔爾的化身, he casts a spell called 喚雷. If you can stun it while it's still casting (noteworthy: there's no channel for this spell that's made apparent under the enemy nameplate), then it will stop casting it, which will cause less of the floor space to be covered in dangerous ... uh ... puddles of lightning?

Also, I'm calling dibs on the heavy metal band name "Puddles of Lightning", so don't even try to steal it from me.
