Wendigos are great for grinding early on. I've been grinding there on my pally, and I started at level 7. There's some decent drops, and two of them aren't much harder than one if you get an add. It's nice to train here at early levels if you're training skinning/leather or mining, as you can skin the Wendigos and there are some mining nodes scattered around the Grizzled Den.

Note for mages:

If you think you can solo one of these without using frostbolt on it first, do so. It does hit them, but theres sort of a half and half chance of it resisting.

There wil be a wendigo in Wrath of the Lich King too, but the Northrend version is much bigger, has horns in an other style and has shoulder pads.

According to it:

Though rarely seen, the wendigo's existence is evidenced by the fierce, primal roars that echo across Northrend's mist-shrouded peaks. Many believe these reclusive, cannibalistic creatures are the primordial cousins of the wendigo that populate the mountains of Dun Morogh.

The wendigo of Northrend dwell in bone-littered caves and venture out only to hunt. They are ferocious and aggressively defend their lairs, food supply, and young from any perceived threat. Adventurers who do not wish to be added to the wendigo's bone-mounds would be wise to run at the sound of their savage bellows.

As a lvl 5 gnome rogue, I would call these mobs rather overpowered for there lvl xD I can't get near them with stealth, there aggrorange is big, and I can easyly get 3 of them on me fast and die xD
