I also got this my first LFR run, was a bit disappointed at first since I thought my full up Sha-touched staff was probably still better. I hadn't caught the fact that I could put the prismatic socket on this though... I appreciate that comment. So I tried putting the prismatic on this DSS staff, put the same brilliant rare gem in the prismatic socket as I had used for Jin'ya, and used a purple with +80 Int and something else in the blue socket. You lose some Int but gain SP. Net change in SP in my case was from 26,714 for Jin'ya to 27,148 for the new staff. So I believe the Dinomancer staff is slightly better if you put the prismatic socket on it.
I have to confess I was about to transmogrify this when I caught a glimpse of a spirit head bursting out through those little doors, lol. Now they have me hooked, I keep watching for that, and it doesn't happen often. Cute.

I just got this tonight. I replaced my Jin'ya, Orb of the Waterspeaker with legendary gem and prismatic socket. I put a prismatic socket on this new staff and it's better. Very cool design on it. Kinda sad cause I spent 13 weeks getting Jin'ya, Orb of the Waterspeaker and upgrading it and I got this staff on my 3rd LFR run lol.

As per April 10 hotfixes, Elemental Shaman are now eligible to receive caster staves that give a bonus to Hit in LFR and bonus rolls.

This staff genuinely scared the crap out of me the first time it opened up; the ghost-troll face was completely unexpected when i was staring at it, on the character selection screen.
