For Alliance this is easy to get just go to Westfall and kill the Defias people untill it drops.

For Horde its kind of hard to get in Westfall especialy when you are lvl 10 to 15, for curious rogues who want this cool looking mask, the road to Westfall is simple but difficulty because of the mobs walking around in Strangletorn Vale, there are 2 ways to get to Westfall.
1: Take the Zep to Strangletorn Vale and walk through the jungle to Duskwood and then left to Westfall. ( verry dangerous for low levels ).
2: Take the Zep to Strangletorn Vale and walk to the beach in to the water and folow the coast but be carefull there are Crocolisks and Water Elementals swiming around so stay deep in the sea.

Once in Westfall the best place to farm is near Jangolode Mine for those who dont know where it is, its all the way up Westfall near the north coast.
The mine is full with lvl 12 to lvl 15, the most highest dropper is the Defias Trapper so i recomend to kill those and dont miss them, but also kill the other Defias people they drop also, there is 1 problem with the Jangolode Mine, an Alliance quest is in that mine so you might see a Alliance walking around, Rogues use Stealth when you see somebody, cause they might Gank you.

ONLY Rogues can use this Mask, so if you are a Warrior and you want that mask, stop dreaming then cause it is a waste of time.

and i was lvl 22. so it maybe takes 1 hour for young rogues.

I went to westfall to rack up wool (at lvl 28) and it droped form i think the 12th one i killed so it made me happy(more so becuse i didnt even know there was a rouge only mask at the time and becuse it hides my jawless face).

If you're a noob like level 15 or less, here's what I would recommend. (Horde only.) Take the zeppelin from either the Undercity or Orgrimmar to Grom'gol. When you arrive there, take off all your armor/weapons that have durability. Run out of Grom'gol into the raptors so you die. When your ghost arrives at the graveyard talk to the pretty lady. She'll give you ressurection sickness. Run out on the road to Duskwood. You will probably get kiled by the panther. Run and rez. Stealth. Once in Duskwood, get killed by something. Tak to lady. Get rez sickness. Run or sprint west into the river go accross to Westfall. Wait for your rez sickness to go away. Put your gear back on. Ready to roll.

I found a easier way for horde to get ahold of the red defias mask. 1) Take Zepplin to STV.
2) Once there instead of going through lvl 40 and 20 zones, just take a long swim up the coast. after about 20minutes (probly way less) youll be in westfall.

If worn on night elf or gnome male, their eyebrows will disappear!

This is due to the eyebrows of both being linked to their facial hair. To prevent clipping errors most headgear that covers the jaw will disable facial hair, and in their case eyebrows too.

I finally got this mask on my level 1 rogue bank alt. Heres a way to get the mask on level 1s:

-Turn XP off
-Persuade a higher level friend to help you
-Invite him to your group
-Turn free for all loot on
-Both go to Moonbrook and let yourself die
-Stay in spirit form as he/she kills the defias mobs and loots to check for mask
-As soon as mask drops rez and loot it

Tadaa, you've got the Red Defias Mask on your level 1 alt. Pretty cool :)

This item is definitely still available post-Shattering in 4.0.3a. In a single run through normal Deadmines after the patch, I had two mask drops from non-elite Defias Diggers and one from an elite Defias Squallshaper.

It seems that Horde players may need to run the actual instance to have a chance at the drop, whilst Alliance players also have the opportunity to pick it up during questing.

I wish there were 2 slots for head items and 2 slots for cloaks. So you could have a mask like this, along with a helm, or goggles (for engineers). For the cloak you would have your stat cloak, and an extra slot for a mantle or shorter cloak with a graphic on it (much like a tabard) that would overlay the stat cloak. This mask would look excellent paired with something on top of the head as well (it would sure improve the look for trolls).

Such a shame because it's a historic item imo and it looks very good with most other items.

I get a bunch of these killing defias knuckledusters, henchmen and pillagers in the phased event in sentiel hill after you've gone to the king in Stormwind after Hope Saldean is revealed to be Vanessa VanCleef.(at that point there's a bunch of defias fighing the guards in sentiel hill instead of gnolls) Sad to say they're a gray item(cannot be tranmogrified) and can only be worn by rogues.

This is the kind of thing they should've kept in the game. It's still in the game but only from the three Grave Robbers found in Duskwood. They should really have kept it as a normal drop for people levelling etc, but it wouldn't help, because they messed it up. Now most levellers have heirloom helms, so this item would be of no use. I remember the good times when you had this helm from level 10 to 25.. Despite what everyone else has been saying, you CANNOT get this item in the phased part of sentinel hill. you MUST get this item from mobs in deadmines. I grinded from the beginning of level 16 to level 17 in sentinel hill on my Pandaren Rogue and it never dropped. although i did get a few rare items, a few uncommons, and even a gold or 2 from pickpocketing and looting.

EDIT: Actually, nevermind my previous statement. must just be a REALLY bad droprate. Was grinding them for a another Deadmines axe, but this dropped instead. however i only got one, so i dunno how peopl claim to get *tons* of these in a short time. i'll try to submit a screenshot with it on my Pandaren Female.

I can confirm that this is still obtainable in patch 6.1 from the Deadmines despite the comments about it only dropping off Graverobbers in Duskwood (Cannot verify that). I just got my Red Defias Mask to drop within my second run on Glubtok room off of the Ogre Bodyguard.

You can solo farm this off of Kobold Diggers in the first room of the Deadmines, regardless of level and gear (although you need to be at least lv.10 to enter the instance). Here's how:

1. Go to the Deadmines instance. Horde characters can get there by taking a Zeppelin to Stranglethorn and stealth-swimming north along the coast - stay away from the beach and near the surface, and you shouldn't encounter any mobs at all.

2. Once inside, use Throw to aggro the ogre-kobold pair manning the cannon, then immediately click on the cannon to man it yourself and spam the ogre down. The cannon should be at around half health if he got some good hits in.

3. Shoot at another group. Cannon blasts root the mobs for a moment, if you land some good shots they might even die before reaching you, if not - you should at least be able to get one pack safely.

4. If your cannon breaks while you're killing a pack, don't panic. Pop Evasion immediately and do your best to kill the ogre; kobolds do very little damage so you should be able to finish them off.

5. Loot and leave the instance once either the cannon or three packs in its range are dead, reset, rinse and repeat.

Loot:

Once looted, will not re-spawn for that character.
