This helmet is hilarious AND practical. It can indeed cook food while you are kneeling. The kneel has a 10 second cooldown and a 5 minute duration so you too can become a permanent campfire if you so desire.

EDIT: Turns out while kneeling, you cannot use the helmet yourself to cook but others can use you as sort of a mobile campfire. My dreams of using a fire upon my head to bake cookies has been dashed.

It also cannot be transmogged onto normal pieces of gear however I was able to turn this helmet into the appearance of a and vice versa.

As of this writing (6-21-17) Helm of the Fire Festival is now "cosmetic" and able to be transmogged.

*Note* Today is also the first day of the Fire Festival.

Sadly, it seems the holiday items such as these will only be "moggable" during their respective holiday events.

Confirmed. The event is now over.
This item and all related holiday items were not only removed from my wardrobe once the event was over, they were removed from my active mog.

Sadly, that means no transmogrifying heirlooms to enjoy this mog year round)
