They drop off the Muckshell Clackers in Dustwallow Marsh.
The pendant dropped at 59,49 for me. I checked out the other area, but for a lvl 35 quest i didn't see the point of taking on lvl 44 mobs. so i found the lowest lvl muckshells i could find and got it on the second drop. I went from 40% into 39 to level 40 and got it on the same kill that put me up to level 40. This took forever. Up to 70% no rest, from 70% to level 40 was rested. So do some math and figure out how many I killed :(

Now, see, I was just the opposite, I got mine on the second kill. This is one of those evil quest items where some will get it right away and others will end up grinding for hours. It's definitely worth it though, even if you have to grind.

I don't think they did change the droprate. I've been trying to get this item and I've killed probably 30+ already and no pendant. This quest is much like Humbert's Sword.

This necklace is a very rare drop... i think i got mine near my 100ish cause it took me near 1hour and i got 4bars by killing those.
Guess i was just unlucky
Anyway worth the time ( 2quest of 3k xp + blue ring )

Do not be fooled by WoWHead's drop rates, of course. It records what the mobs drop when any 1 player kills that mob, so when a player who doesn't have the quest doesn't get the drop for x amount of kills, the drop rate goes down.

Post 2.3, all the muckshell I found were level 35-36 and gave crap for XP. I killed about 20 and gave up.

Logged 142 kills at level 42. >_< Seeing that Sidely and I both are both hunters with the same problem, I tried killing the mobs with my pet on passive... didn't make a difference.

You guys must be very lucky, spended 3 hour allrdy to get that pendant still no luck (50 huntard)....this is one of the q´s which blizz has planned to kill people to get huge amount experience...if he doesn´t die for low drop rate before that :)

Ok - I am feeling the pain of others. I spent nearly 2 hours killing these things and nothing... very frustrating as I want to compelte the chain quest. The good news is hanging around the cliffs near the water NE of Mudsproket I get to kill Hayoc (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=14234) and get some decent green drops for the level.

Now, I am assuming the Razorclaw is extinct and the pendant is now a random drop from one of the normal muckshells. Still, the drop rate seems very low. I am using the addon "Questhelper" and I notice the icon for the pendant seems to move around the map from time to time. At first I thought it was telling me which muckshell had the pendant but then I was in the blackhoof village for another quest and it said the pendant was there. Glitch?

Well low, low drop rate for me, took quite a few kills.

Positive from all of this is it was quite satisfying using my Mastercraft Kalu'ak Fishing Pole not just because of the water breathing, but the satisfying *THWACK* it makes slapping lobsters around as well.

Just want to say that i tried to get this last night for 4 hours killing over 250 muckshell; today ive tried for about 2 hours and i still have not got it so im now giving up :( on the plus side you can atleast make alittle money of the things they drop.

Like everyone else has said the drop rate for this darn thing is ridiculous. Honestly I wouldn't even bother with this quest if you don't want to be killing things for 20 minutes or more. Got disconnected from the server, logged back in and got it in two kills LOL. Very frustrating quest though due to the drop rate.

Took forever, logged on here to see wth was going on, then decided to go more south where the pincers are. 2nd pincer kill. Might have been lucky, but figured I'd share.

Took me a lot longer than i expected. I got to a point where i figured i´d look on wowhead, to see if there was something fishie, or a piece of information I needed. Got back on the game after reading it´s rare drop, got it in less than 10 kills. Rough estimate of total kills is 100-ish.
