With my current gear, around ilvl330, this increases my damage resistance from 56.18% to 57%. That means I'm taking about 2% less physical damage.

For comparison, the passive on Throngus's Finger, with my gear, increases total avoidance from 24.4% to 25.5%, resulting in about 1.5% less.

Obviously Throngus's Finger has another effect as well, but as low as the armor may look, armor in general has actually decreased in Cataclysm. This is a very good reliable mitigation trinket.

This does seem a bit under budget, even for an armor trinket.

For a comparison the Unidentifiable Organ still gives 751 more armor.

Edit: Unidentifiable Organ finally got nerfed! Call of Thunder now provides 598 more armor, making it an actual upgrade.

amazing trinket for the chimaeron fight... the 10k health you get from this proc in addition to the static damage reduction from armor make this excellent.

Got this in pair with Throngus Finger.
Still lying around in my backpack because it plainly sucks imo. I prefer 札布羅克斯的幸運齒 over it (Tank Pala).
Don't see it being a good trinket.

I prefer to Wear Leaden Despair and Za'broks Lucky Tooth than Throngus' Finger and This.

Yea, now it IS a minor upgrade to ye old organ. It only took nearly 100 item levels and there are greens better than it... but it IS a minor upgrade now! Wewt!

p.s. Heart of Thunder still sucks, badly.

edit: outside of the chimaeron comments, of course. Giving us one fight mechanic in the game it is useful for... and still gets beat by DMC: Earthquake... which incidentally is also only useful on that fight lol.

Perhaps we're looking at it wrong.

A few things come to mind looking not only at the items stats, but also Asaad's loot table- it would seem a bit odd for a dungeon boss to drop 3 pieces of tanking gear (this, Thundercall and Billowing Cape). Given that it shares a cooldown with Battlemaster trinkets, perhaps therin lies its use- pvp. The health boost could be rather helpful. On the reverse of that, 3 of the 4 tanking classes (dunno if pally's have one) already have an ability to increase their health, but to a muce more effective degree, so a trinket to do the same thing would be a pale comparison to a different trinket.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, and it's just a really mediocre trinket.

The the effects stack. My warrior has the regular version of this and popping this trinket and last stand together he went from ~60k to ~88k. Plus using them together got me an extra 2k out of the trinket. If you have something like DBM that warns you of a large magic burst then this plus a resistance trinket could be a good combo.

Very good for blood dks, popping it and spamming death strikes gives a better shield compared to normal.

This is great for the Chimeron encounter in BWD. Because u need to be above 10k hp to not get "killed" so this will prevent a death on the 99% reduced healing Phase. Worth keeping for that very encounter!
