One of the most powerful potions when used right, FAPs make the user immune to nearly all stuns and slows. Meaxxna's webspray and a few other abilities are exceptions, but overall it's a very powerful tool. The mats are quite affordable, so using them in PvP is not unheard of. There's no reason to believe these won't scale well at 70.

These are very awesome for a druid flag runner in WSG. Just sneak in, hit FA, grab flag, and pop cat form sprint to make it out the tunnel. Once outside, hit travelform and you're home.

If you're a gnome, this is a great complement to Escape Artist, especially if there's a good chance you'll be immediately resnared. It takes you most of the way to the vastly more expensive Living Action Potion. Escape Artist only works on movement impairing effects, not stuns, however.

Best use of these (for BGs, anyway), is to wait until you have a movement impairing effect on you, eat a FAP, then pop you PvP trinket to break whatever CC you have on you.

Makes it function like a 30s Living Action Potion (which is much more expensive, rare, and lasts for only 5s).

These are amazing for tanking Hyjal trash waves that contain Abominations as a Paladin or Warrior. Normally the Abominations knock you down (meaning you can't block/dodge/parry) and you'll quickly get owned - these allow you to tank more of these otherwise weak mobs. It's literally the difference between living and dying if the Abom's get free of CC.

Also, potion mastery Alchemists can get procs while making this.

It is highly recommended to have herbalism,for most of the herbs required for the majority of the above consumables sell rather high on the AH,or are rare (see Wintersbite for Frost Oil).Fishing also helps,especially for producing Blackmouth and Stonescale oils with Alchemy.Add Cooking to the mix,if anything,for the extra profit added by Dragonbreath Chili and Savory Deviate Delight.

I just found out that these do not make a warlock immune to banish (while in metamorphosis), nor does it keep you from being feared by a paladin's turn evil spell (also while in metamorphosis).

I'm hoping that's a bug because otherwise it's friggen fantastic!

This potion recieved pretty buff in 3.0. With the rework of potion cooldowns (one minute CD upon leaving combat) you can use this thing twice as often (when timed properly). This bumps the uptime from 25% to 50%, which can make difference between life and death.

On the other side, if you are not going to leave combat (e.g. busy tank-like FC in WSG), it is actually nerf and the uptime may be lower than 25%.

I made a YouTube video called Naked Flag Runner showing the utility of free action potion in running the Warsong Flag. I started off stacking speed, resilience and stamina and ended up way overpowered when I used free action potion. So to make it fun I began to run it in a pink dress and progressed to underwear and a fishing pole. From the video you can see that the chains of ice landed on me but did not slow me because it is a movement impairing effect but the DK death grip was still effective on me because it is not a movement impairing effect. The horde ran out of DKs to death grip me and I survived the few attacks they landed before I was able to sprint off and remove the DOTs with cloak of shadows. Most of the credit goes to the free action potion. The other items I utilized were the rogue talent preparation that finished my CD on my sprint, the rogue glyph of sprint that increased my sprint speed by an extra 30% and these level 60 PVP boots that increased my sprint time from 15 seconds to 18 seconds. This combination gave me a 100% speed increase for 36 seconds instead of 70% speed increase for 15 seconds. I hope you enjoy the video and good luck running the flag.

Surprisingly it's not mentioned here but these are extremely useful in Zul Gurub to avoid the terminally annoying axe wielding trolls that knock you back ad infinitum.

While levelling alchemy on my alt warlock I made these from orange to green for my warrior so that he could, for once in his TBC life, kill a frost mage*. It was funny also to see the expletives in garbled alliance language of the mounting number of rogues continually trying to disorientate me as "Immune" repeatedly flashed over my avatar.

I would recommend that anyone who has alchemy and herbalism make these and carry a few around as, beyond the situations mentioned above, the usefulness of these potions is seemingly endless. For example, I wonder if it would prevent Archavon's knockback after he stamps, similarly would it affect Icehowl and Gormok's stamps? For Icehowl it could mean 9-10 seconds of raid dps upstime that would otherwise be absent, I must try!

*He can as Prot in WOTLK, we shall see after the warbringer nerfs next week!

This potion is pretty much the only way to get anything useful done in wintergrasp if you have 10+ tenacity, unless you're a paladin.

Edit: nice example today, the door to the relic was down and with only seconds left on the clock the 10 alliance that were there had no chance to reach the relic, until I used my FAP and just ran past the 50+ horde that were standing in the doorway.

I made a ticket about it, and recieved the enlightening news that the potion is useable at levels 80-84, but isn't useable at level 85...

Then I had that crushed that it isn't supposed to be used at all above level 80. It's an intended change. Oh well, was amazing while it lasted. Now only "real" use is leveling, and if you're up to it, twinking.

EDIT: *old* it now just decreases the time it lasts now appropriate to your lvl.

Yes, this item is nerfed, however it is still usable at 85:

# Alchemy: Free Action Potion now lasts 30 - (Player level - 77) * 3 if the player is above level 77. That's 30 - 8 * 3 = 6 seconds at level 85.

That's right, 6 secs of immune movement at 85.

DOES work at 85, lasting 6seconds. Just now tested it.

Further testing is needed to see whether drinking a FAP causes you to drop the flag. I only had the one potion however.

As a Gnome and having access to Escape Artist. You can use this AFTER you pick up the flag by using this macro:

/cast Escape Artist(Racial)
/cast Free Action Potion

This clears any existing snares and then uses Free Action Potion to prevent further.

Even though this is only a 6 second duration at level 85, it is still hilarious in battlegrounds. Especially in warsong gulch as a druid flag carrier. Good luck keeping up with a druid that is completely immune to snares or stuns! :D

At level 83 it lasts 12 seconds. You can't get across the the Warsong field in 12 seconds but you can get to your healer.

For those who don't feel like doing the math out, the formula says:
For every level above 77, subtract 3 seconds from the total duration, to a minimum of 5 seconds, with a maximum of 30 seconds.

So these no longer decrease in effectiveness as you lvl, just stop working all together after X lvl, meaning they are super good for lvling in BGs at any lvl.
