As an Enhance shaman, this trinket is glorious. It removes all need to gem for expertise, or the need to wear lower quality gear, just so you can hit the expertise cap. With this trinket and the T9 gloves (for draenei anyway), you only need a small amount of expertise to hit 26 expertise rating. In my case, this freed up 2 gem slots and a ring (that ring from ToC5 normal).

The other effect can also stack to 5 almost instantaneously for Enhance shamans, due to WF procs, SS, etc.

Me being an assassination rogue this trinket is fantastic cause i won't need as much expertise from armour. The thing about it is it gives you exactly 10 expertise allowing you to switch between combat and assass (mind the talent from combat giving you 10 exp) without much trouble: just swapping a trinket.

he means he can just swap to grim toll for example and go combat...
so he gets exact same amount of expertise from talent, doesnt overcap.

If you are a dual wielding class and you are very much below the expertise (soft) cap then maybe this is a good trinket.

For the rest of us, we can only dream that some minor version of Death's Verdict will be added to 10 man.

Underrated trinket.

People overlook Expertise because it's essentially just Hit Cap 2.0 and they "don't like it," even though a dodge is generally the exact same effect as "miss" (which everyone and their mom hates and thus caps hit.) Refusing to cap it when you can is nonsensical. A guy running around undercapped on Expertise wearing Mirror of Truth over this is an idiot. It's stat weight is quite high for all classes that benefit from it. (Slightly lower than hit, I know, because of attack that use spell hit, of course).

On-use effects usually proc less AP than random chance procs because they have a guaranteed multiplicative value that coincides with other effects, i.e. Hysteria, Gargoyle, Death Wish, etc. Using my main for an example, I usually want to pop Gargoyle at the end of my first runeset, or to coincide with a Heroism. I can simply pop the trinket and the AP bonus goes to my Gargoyle at a time which maximizes DPS much more than randomly getting 1200 AP some other time. Not to mention the fact that the on-use effect is 20 sec. vs. the 10 sec. from Pyrite Infuser. I'll listen to the argument that other trinks are better, but trashing this one as borderline useless makes no sense.

What it boils down to is for 6.5% boss dodge chance (26/26 expertise), 26 expertise (214 expertise rating) to cap. So if your below that, the expertise is useful, regardless the AP buff is pretty good on this.

Belt of the Merciless Killer recently dropped and now im over hit capped and under capped in expertise, so i'm gemming expertise, I'm hoping this drops to gem agility on my mutilate rogue.

This trinket is only really good for 2 specs: assassination rogues & fury wars, because they are the only 2 specs which might be expertise lacking. Every other class & spec should probably pass on this trinket b/c they have talents or glyphs to get their expertise from, and there are way better trinkets out there for you.

If your curious about other ways for you to get your expertise, I will list them:

Rogue:
Assassination: NONE
Combat: Weapon Expertise
Subtlety: NONE, but dead spec is dead so who cares

War:
Prot: Vitality
Arms: Weapon Mastery Strength of Arms
Fury: NONE

DK:
Blood: Veteran of the Third War
Frost: Tundra Stalker
Unholy: Rage of Rivendare

Pally:
Prot: Combat Expertise
Ret: Glyph of Seal of Vengeance

Druid:
Feral: Primal Precision

Shaman:
Enhance: Unleashed Rage

Now considering plate dps & fury wars also get expertise from racials like
Dwarf: Mace Specialization
Human: Mace Specialization Sword Specialization
Orc: Axe Specialization

Assassination rogues are really the only spec who do not get any expertise from talents, glyphs, or racials, and would benefit from this trinket the most. However a fury war (especially those that are not orcs, dwarfs, or huamns) are not far behind.

As a semi-retired player who enjoys the occasional PuG, this item was like a godsend.

I have had no luck previously in Uld or ToC, and I was still using thrusting bands from Naxx for the expertise. This little lady has replaced my Mirror of truth and allowed me to finally dump my old bracers. :)
