Unless you are in desparate need of the defense, the difference of 3 Hit Rating, 4 Stamina, and 2 Strength doesn't really make up the difference between this cloak and Platinum Mesh Cloak, which is better due to the dodge rating (37 to Saronite Animus' 29 parry rating) and its superiority to parry when it comes to avoidance.

Despite the name (the Saronite Animus is involved in Vezax's hardmode), the ilvl indicates that this is a normal mode drop.

While I hate to be argumentative (kinda :p) those trinkets add a total of just over 5% before DR. You'd have to have a pretty special set of gear to have more than ~31% dodge (assuming 18% parry), and that's being very generous since at that level 5% would be subject to an awful lot of DR. Hence my comment of viability - while it could well be theoretically possible I still respectfully disagree with your original post - parry will never 'come out ahead' in any real situation.

Your original comment suggested that the main reason (before Ulduar) to not gear for parry is because it led to more parry-hastened boss swings (and since this mechanism has been removed for the majority of cases, that it isn't "that much worse of a stat "). While I agree that in fact it does through the mechanism you described, the effect is tiny at best. The main reason for not gearing for parry is that it has lower avoidance per rating than dodge, which you seem to realise, except for the most impractical of gearsets, thus the point is moot.

TLDR

This is a solid upgrade to platinum mesh cloak / cloak of the shadowed sun
What you lose in dodge you gain a whole lot more in other stats.
