This isn't a bad poor man arms warrior weapon. If you haven't gotten another decent poleaxe/axe this can work for a while. I was able to pump out 1700 dps with this in heroic VH.

This is a good weapon for DK tanks. It has just as much HP and actually more avoidance than Argent Skeleton Crusher. The only downside is that you look like a twat while wielding it.

But @ lvl75, you can get a better weapon; De-Raged Waraxe
According to the dps sheet on elitistjerks compendium, the harpoon gives 1605 dps, and this axe gives 1615 dps(if hitrating isnt capped before you equip this, and you are blood spec).

The stats on it are great, compared to the standard Hunter weapon Legacy, if BOTH weapons are enchanted with the Enchant 2H Weapon - Major Agility (+35 Agility), the upgrade over Legacy is as follows:

+598.5 HP (nice!)
-8 MP5
+49 Attack Power and Ranged Attack Power
+1.41% Hit Chance (nice!)
+0.40% Crit Chance
+58 Armor
+0.98% Dodge (pretty nice)

As for melee capabilities, changes are as follows:
Legacy 319-479 Dmg @ 3.50s ----> Harpoon 449-675 Dmg @ 3.60s

I thoroughly recommend every hunter to get this weapon on their way to 80. You'll be Revered at Level 78 when you can use this Harpoon, as long as you do all Kalu'ak quests in Howling Fjord and Dragonblight.

DKs get parry thru a passive ability called forceful deflection http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=49410. this gives us parry based on str. so an easier weapon to get even prior to this would be the http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41816

so yes its a nice weapon but agi is junk for us and str is god

yeah they have that but your going to find your dodge chance leaving your parry chance in the dust. You need a ridiculously high amount of parry rating to top 15% at 80 however, your dodge will be around 24+, so this or the Dreadlord's blade are probably the best two of the best two handed tanking weapons until nax. (talking about DKs)

this is the best weapon for druids that just lvled 80 , since u will already be revered with The Kalu'ak if u have done all their quests in Boreon tundra , howling fjord and Dragonblight

If you're a SV hunter looking for straight DPS gain, http://www.wowhead.com/?item=35649 gives more attack power than this, even without any +stam. However the +hit from the harpoon should help on getting hit capped faster.

Bottomline, SV hunters away from the hit cap should get the harpoon but, once the hit cap is reached. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=35649 is a better option. Last boss from regular VH dropped this twice in a row, shouldn't be too hard to get. Or course that I'm not taking into account heroic weapons.

For DK blood dps spec according to this compendium
Whale-Stick Harpoon gives 1605dps, cant get until lvl78
De-Raged Waraxe gives 1615dps, can get already at lvl75

These are the best weapons to get until you hit lvl80. Its 10dps less, but its 10stm more. And since I already got the polearm now that I found out, I wont be changing to this, but it sucks that I could have had this for 3 lvls already. Get De-Raged Waraxe @ lvl75, dont wait to get its equal @ lvl78.

P.S. a post got purged, dont know why, because its fact, nothing else.
