For DK blood dps spec according to this compendium
Whale-Stick Harpoon gives 1605dps, cant get until lvl78
De-Raged Waraxe gives 1615dps, can get already at lvl75

These are the best weapons to get until you hit lvl80. Its 10dps less, but its 10stm more. And since I already got the polearm now that I found out, I wont be changing to this, but it sucks that I could have had this for 3 lvls already. Get this @ lvl75, dont wait to get its equal @ lvl78.

Excellent upgrade for my Axe of Frozen Death
I'm currently lvl 77 BEDK (Unholy spec) and I've just finished all the quests in Grizzly Hills, Dragonblight, Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord (Except for group quests in Dragonblight). Now, I'm heading to Zul'Drak, and I WILL have this axe.
If we compare these two, we will see that De-Raged Waraxe has
39 Sta
24 Str
19 Hit
26.5 DPS
more than Axe of Frozen Death, while the last one surprisingly has 13 Crit more.
You can ask me, why do I still wield Axe of Frozen Death, but I can assure you that you won't find anything better unless you go to instances (while I, personally, think it's rather useless to go to instances before high lvl). If you do not believe me, you can compare AoFD to ANY other two-handed weapon obtained through questing in GH, DB, BT and HF, and you will see that none of them match AoFD, if we speak only about effective DPS for a DK, Arms Warrior or Retadin

And I absolutely love the way it looks on BE's

This weapon is a great value when compared to the amount of time to invest to get it. It is a respectable quality end-game item, and requires a 'Ring of Blood' type quest series to complete. The quest series is fun, and relatively easy, with a properly built 5 man. Many times, there is an excess of 80s that haven't done the quest yet so many groups have overkill dps to complete it. The quest series give a huge amount of xp overall, also, in a very short time.

Did this last night was easy but you need:

A tank, healer isnt important to have gear/spec but i was tanking as arms (lvl 75) got critted 6 k by some of them so its usefull to have a tank in your Group

Not only does it look awesome (if only there were level 80 weapons that used this model and texture...), it hits ridiculously hard as well.

As a Unholy/Frost DK I saw a ~200 DPS increase going from the Axe of Frozen Death to this weapon. If you manage to get this at level 75 you will tear mobs apart within seconds.

You will probably keep this for a while.

For Orc DK tanks that have http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=20574, this is probably one of the best (if not the best) tanking weapons you can get outside of heroics and raids. 5 expertise skill is the equivalent of 40.95 expertise rating (or approximately 41 expertise rating). Since having this weapon adds crit (minor bonus for DK tanks for threat compared to hit, strength, and expertise, but still welcome) and hit rating as well as a nice amount of strength and stamina, with some good weapon damage to boot, makes this an amazing starting tank weapon for heroics, especially if you have the passive mentioned above.

I would suggest to anyone using this weapon that you immediately get Greater Savagery http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=44630 enchanted on it. This weapon will last you from 75 to 80, and very likely well into 80. The enchant will make leveling a breeze and contribute a noticeable amount of damage to your overall dps in groups. Also, the materials for the enchant are relatively cheap.

*edit* If you have a surplus of materials you could put Massacre http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=60691 on it instead. However, for most players I would suggest the previously mentioned Greater Savagery.

Aye, one of the best two handed weapons for its level! Get this baby as soon as possible because it's easy to get and most will end up using this until you hit 80 like I did. This axe is still pimp without the rage. :P Although, I wouldn't waste any costly enchants on this puppy cause you will eventually replace it; I agree a simple titanium weapon chain will suffice.

De-Raged Waraxe is from The Champion Of Anguish

Hammer of Quiet Mourning is from Wanted: Ragemane's Flipper

Two different quests but both are in Zul'Drak. Actually though, the hammer is the best for its level for tanking and the axe is the best for its level for dpsing. I'd pick up both.

Strange, I've obtained this weapon for my lvl 75 ret paladin yesterday, I've had my ol' http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28442#created-by switched to it, (+17,1 dps +19 str, greater minimum/maximum hit), but even after I leveled up my weapon skill, the character panel showed, that Stormherald still have 10 more maximum hit, and I wonder why, I have executioner enchant on Stormherald, so no +AP, the exe got more max damage, more str, so I have absolutely no idea why can I swing Stormherald harder...

I'm really sorry that I didn't get this Axe right when I hit level 75, because that was the level I spent a lot of time doing PvP. :P

I used this axe well into level 80, until I finally replaced it with the Ironsoul. It's definitely the best weapon you can get pre-80, as far as I can tell (Aside from the Bind on Account gear that takes a lot more effort to get).

4. kill animals
5. kill anything else you want
6. dont kill me
7. after you relized this wont work, youll notice your completely badass without the rage anyways

Oh sweet rejoicement this model has been reused for a new 5.2 lv 90 wep, now we can finally get this beauty for our high-lv's again. Though it is dropped of a rare elite/boss, it is still back!
