Feral glyphing primer:

For solo/leveling, Glyph of Mangle + Glyph of Berserk + Glyph of Rip is ideal.
1) the only mobs that will survive long enough to get a Rip off at all are bosses/elites, and
2) many of said mobs are immune to maim, so you won't be using Shred after a Rip in any event.
3) as the duration of an encounter increases (up to 3 minutes), Berserk's dps contribution over time approaches its absolute minimum (~5.55% glyphed); for shorter encounters, this burst dps gain would still be more beneficial than glyphed Shred (even if Shred spam were possible).

For dps in groups, Glyph of Rip + Glyph of Savage Roar are essentials, and Glyph of Shred is arguably better for bosses, but in practice is typically outdone by Glyph of Berserk against small pulls/trash (or any high-mobility/multi-target encounter); here's why.
1) Berserk (glyphed) takes only 20 seconds of use every 3 minutes to increase your total dps for that 3 minute period by (1/9 * 0.5) =~ 5.55%,
2) Shred (glyphed) relies on keeping Rip up on all targets at all times for any dps gain at all and must also offset the 1.39% total dps loss due to not having Glyph of Berserk. This is achievable on single or even double-target boss encounters, but typically falls behind Glyph of Berserk in all other instances.

In Mists of Pandaria this glyph has changed.

OLD: Glyph of Bloodletting - Each time you Shred or Mangle in Cat Form, the duration of your Rip on the target is extended by 2 sec, up to a maximum of 6 sec.
NEW: Glyph of Shred - While Berserk or Tiger's Fury is active, Shred has no positional requirement.

In Warlords of Draenor, Glyph of Shred has been removed. It's description used to read:

While Berserk or Tiger's Fury is active, Shred has no positional requirement.

From the 6.0.2 Patch Notes:

撕碎 no longer requires the Druid to be behind the target and is now available to all specializations. Shred now deals 35% more damage in addition to having double the normal chance to critically strike while stealthed.
Ravage has been removed and its effects have been incorporated into Shred.
