This drop is what i believe to be a possible Tier 7.5 set?

It looks somewhat ZA'esqe and i think it could make a good stand for DK tanking gear... Though not having played DK yet i cannot gaurantee my beliefs.

I play a Warrior tank and even I have to say this is perfectly itemized for a death knight tank.

Before you get on my nuts, I know it's great for any tank. But with all the parry and expertise it works out very well for someone wielding a big slow two hander.

Likewise Valorous Dreadnaught Legguards. Oddly, the valorous legs, despite being 13 ilvls lower, have:

marginally more stam (up to 175 with gems)
Comparable avoidance (43 dodge rating on the valorous vs 33 defense rating and 12 parry rating on these)
18 more more strength

And that's before taking into account set bonuses, and the fact that the valorous legs have 2 sockets and are thus more flexible.

The only thing these have going for them is a tiny amount of armor and a nice bit of expertise, suggesting that they are either a very marginal dps/tps upgrade (considering the strength difference, there's still probably a noteworthy increase) or simply not intended for warriors. I'm all for well-rounded tanks, but for any warrior with the valorous leggards I don't think it's worth wasting your time with these unless nobody else can possibly use it...

These are lacking the avoidance that http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40446 have with the replacement of a little more stam, armor and strength.

Parry is not a a stat you should be taking over dodge when tanking, and neither is expertise. Dodge is the much more valuable stat.

The few hundred hit points will mean nothing on a raid boss that is hitting you for thousands of hit points. That extra chance to dodge the hit all together is much better for a tank.

Heh I know that parry is much more expensive than dogde, But hell I would rather parry than dogde. Pick these up if you have the chance I say. There might be encounters incoming were you will need the threat egde. Keep diminishing returns in the equation as well.

Expertise does nothing for damage that you take, it only aids you by reducing your chance to be dodged or parried.

When a mob parries an attack you make their next attack is significantly hasted, resulting in more damage taken. Therefore, reducing a mob's chance to parry will in fact reduce the damage you will take if you are attacking from the front, ie. your main tank.

Up to a certain point parry rating may be more desirable than dodge for DK tanks - only so far as their Rune Strike is concerned though.

Parry rating can be a more desirable stat for any tank that is able to parry if they are suffering heavy diminishing returns on their dodge. In WotLK avoidance stats such as dodge and parry were changed in that the more dodge or parry rating you have, the less you get out of each point. This change was made partially because of a rogue's ability to stack agility and avoidance to the point where they could become un-meleeable allowing then to tank bosses like Gruul, Mother Shahraz and Illidan.

Just thought I'd bring up an interesting point from Royal Seal of King Llane page:

The amount of dodge you need to get in order for Parry to be better is downright obscene. Parry given through Defense Rating counts toward DR, and DR hits Parry at worse ratios than dodge anyway. You'd need around a thousand dodge rating without any parry rating for parry to be seriously competitive.

Due to the extremely high amount of defense on these legplates, they can be useful to wear as a part of your frost resistance set. While wearing resistance gear, you lose a significant amount of defense rating, and these legs can help make up the difference and help you more easily remain uncrittable.

So don't immediately vendor/disenchant these if you happen to get a better pair :)

Paladin's can't use expertise as well as Warriors and DK's can. This should go to a pali after the warrior and DK tanks have theirs

Incorrect, paladins use more expertise then DK's do. DK's use spells mostly so hit rating is better, these are better for a pali tank because not only do we use one handed weapons that attack faster then a DK does, but theres abilites that aren't considered spells such as hammer of the righteous. Yes, paladins use spells but expertise is more important for a paladin over a deathknight.
