This helm is badass but http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41386 Is better a lil better or rather a super minor upgrade imo.

with the recent change to the item.
Spike titansteel helm now has

97 str
meta ( 21 crit rating 3% crit dmg )
blue ( 16 AP 12 stam )
socket bonus + 8 crit rating
60 hit
44 crit

thats 73 crit rating and 97 str compared to 72 crit 100str 59 hit. the only upgrade is the 3% extra crit dmg for the meta socket. thats my 2 cents

In all honesty, this helm is very lackluster. I was wearing a Spiked Titansteel Helm gemmed with a Relentless Earthsiege Diamond (21 agi and +3% crit damage) and a Balanced Twilight Opal (+16 ap and +12 stam). Upon "upgrading" to this helm, my ret paladin saw the following net stat changes:

-10 AP
+0.03% crit
-1 hit rating
+138 stamina
Loss of 3% crit damage bonus

Is 1380 health really worth the loss of a meta socket? Some ret paladins might say yes because of Seal of the Martyr/Seal of Blood, but let's not be ridiculous. I have 18.5k health unbuffed without this helm on. Is the extra 1380 health really going to save me from my own idiocy if I keep getting JotM/JoB crits when my health is dangerously low? No. The 150 stamina is dead itemization. For DW warriors and DPS DKs it's even more useless.

Very disappointing ilvl 213 dps helm. If you already have a gemmed and enchanted Spiked Titansteel Helm don't bother with this.

since this has waaay more critical as Spiked Titansteel helm, and i didn't want to lose any critical i can now replace my +16 crit gem and throw a +41 str in, wich is about +40 AP if you do your maths (+42/minor run speed meta) which will take me up to 3.4k

which i would gem with
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41285, http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40022 (using a red/blue gem to give both the socket bonus, and to make the meta requirement, this helm having one of the better socket bonuses ive seen so far)
giving the following stats:

105 str (97 + 8 from gem)
60 hit rating
73 crit (44 + 21 form gem + 8 form bonus)
1821 armour (30 ap from 3/3 armoured to the teeth for fury warriors)
3% crit damamge

ok, so you lose 1 AP from amroured to the teeth, if you go with titansteel, but you gain 5 str. and you gain 3% crit damage, and you even get more crit and hit out of it. The only way Fire Scorched is possibly more benefitial to you is if you lack great amount of health. But I would suggest anyone with the means to get this, and not titansteel, has plenty of stam from all the other gear out there.

Shame titansteel looks $%^&.

Why is everyone putting that bad purple gem in there helms? It really doesnt make any sense except for maybe a DK, cause I dont play one. For a Ret pally or Warrior you wanna throw in a http://www.wowhead.com/?item=39996. The 12 stam gives you very little health and 8str only gives you 16ap where as the Bold Scarlet gives you 32ap untalented. So you put in a purple for +8 crit that equates to a whoping 0.17 crit. You should rarely gems for crit over strength(especially for a Ret pally).
